Avatar f tn My 90 yr old mother has suffered two MIs in the past month while visiting in NY and after a short rehab has to return home. Is flying an option? She has had low blood pressure and was administred dopamine to bring it back up. She also has bad leg circulation so sitting in a car for 20 hrs is not an option.
Avatar m tn I am a student at Brown University in Providence, RI, USA doing a project on constant blood pressure monitoring. Instead of using a blood pressure cuff, you'd wear a patch or a bracelet-like device that would monitor your blood pressure 24/7 and you'd be able to track your measurements on your smartphone or computer. Do you think such a device would help you monitor your condition better? What are some current problems people have with their blood pressure cuffs?
Avatar n tn A GPS ankle monitoring bracelet cannot be worn when getting an MRI under any circumstances. The resolution may be hard or easy, depending upon whether the charge is federal or local, and whether the supervising officer is a pre-trial services officer or a parole officer. Generally ankle bracelets are prescribed by Federal pre-trial services officers in lieu of confinement when the patient allegedly is an escape risk.
Avatar f tn What you should do, is asking your doctor for a 24 hour blood pressure monitoring, which will give a more correct picture of your blood pressure and how it changes when you are anxious, calm, asleep, etc. The focus on how important normal blood pressure is, and how dangerous high blood pressure is, can make anyone anxious and produce false blood pressure results. And 149/80 is just mildly elevated. Anxiety will make the blood pressure increase in everyone. It's a normal response.

Any doctor, dentist, or emergency medical care provider who treats you should know that you are taking Coumadin. You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to.
Avatar n tn As dm suggested, it is critical that he sees an endocrinologist ~ someone who specializes in diabetes management and complications. He should be closely monitoring his blood sugar levels to try to diminish the possibilty of neuropathy and other possible complications from erratic blood sugar levels. Alcohol and diabetes are not a good combination and he should have an open and honest discussion with his health care team about his use of it.

194838 tn?1303428544 You might want to test your fasting blood sugar first thing before any food which should be under 100. Then try two hours after a meal, do a different meal each day. Those numbers should be under 140. This is very useful to tell you which foods you can eat which allow you to be in target range and which spike your blood sugar too high.

Avatar n tn I agree with Michelle, it's important to examine what the quivering and irregular heart rhythm is. As she said, most cases of irregular heart rhythm is fairly harmless extra/premature beats. But with hypertension, chance is higher that she can have runs of atrial fibrillation, which may need treatment. A cardiologist will probably measure her heart rhythm during a long interval (for example 1 week) with a portable monitor.
