Blood alcohol markers

Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol markers

alcohol

Avatar m tn Because it is sometimes difficult to obtain an exact history of alcohol consumption, laboratory markers of chronic alcohol misuse have been established and are frequently used. One of the best markers for chronic alcohol consumption is serum {gamma}-glutamyl transferase (GGT), which has a relatively high sensitivity and specificity. Because measurement of this enzyme is easy and inexpensive, it has generally been used for early detection of chronic alcohol misuse.
Avatar n tn My health problems came out of nowhere. In December of 2016, I started having mouth ulcers. In March of 2017, I had a perforated intestine which turned into sepsis. After getting out of the hospital, I've had neutrophils that get low for a while (0.1 or 0.2) and I have to be hospitalized on IV antibiotics. hospitalization happens every few months My colonoscopy showed that I had ulcers in the lower colon, but the markers did not quite fit Crohn's ulcers.
Avatar f tn when dr says all went well sounds encouraging,,,perhaps the blood showed elevated white blood count,,you have every right to ring Dr and ask exactly what was off w blood work..to be certain there is no cancer ask if they did a CA125 test,,this is a marker for female cancer, the fibroids should be gone Id asume removed w uterus.no free fluid is aways good functional cts are almost always begnine...
Avatar f tn My OB called me this evening cause I wanted to know how my 20 week ultrasound went and she had mentioned to me that she had noticed a soft marker in the heart, no where else. Soft markers are suppose to indicate down syndrome.... Has anyone else had there Dr tell them about these soft markers? Should I be worried? She told me not to stress, but it's on my mind for sure..
Avatar f tn So there is pain, swelling, damage and signs its all been chronic for years. Yet I have zero inflammation markers. My ESR is 1 and my CRP is 2. To me that seems abnormally low for a healthy "normal" person. So how can this be? My platelets are normal. I have almost dangerously low blood pressure. Anywhere from 55/90-65/100. Only other weird thing is I have panic attacks my red blood cells are abnormally smaller than average and Im always freezing.
Avatar n tn This is just a thought. Im due for routine blood work next week. Ive heard that tumor markers can be effected by many things, both benign and cancerous. I was just wondering, as I had a biopsy a couple of months ago which left a rather large hematoma (which I still have although it decreased a little), is it possibe that a tumor marker can pick up on a disturbance in the breast such as a hematoma, and think it is a "real" tumor? Does that make sense to anyone or am I being paranoid?
Avatar n tn ve notices also after taking a small of alcohol I get pains in my blood vessels that would last for 15 mins. also very weak. They pain at times would be in the center of my arm at the blood vessels. I'm fine laying down and most of the major test are laying down. I haven't had a MRA . Do you think this test would be a test I should take. I would like to be in a spell when I have a test so someone could detect my problem.
Avatar m tn I have had several rounds of liver focused blood tests and my total bilirubin has hovered at 2.5 while all other markers have been normal. My doctor believes I may have Gilberts disease. I've had two ultrasounds since 2013 and both have shown a perfectly healthy liver. However, the one I had 10 months ago showed a 3mm sludge ball in my gallbladder versus polyp.
5009178 tn?1369953775 If the markers are still there on the 14th then we will do the blood test that pulls the babies dna out of my blood, and they say that test is 99% accurate where as the screen was only 90%. So we're kind of waiting on the next two weeks to see how things go. Sorry for the long response but it's a bit nerve wracking waiting. Good luck to you momma!
Avatar f tn Like you, I was worried through the pregnancy about it, but I found out a lot of things that made me feel much better. First, the soft markers are different from the markers for Downs. Soft markers are VERY common. One u/s tech even told me that most of the babies she scans has at least one of the soft markers, and the extreme majority do not have Downs. So basically, soft markers are a load of **** that doctors tell you about just to scare the &*#^ out of you.

10501840 tn?1410617455 The doctors found a mass in my liver, They drew blood work for CA 19-9. The tests says flag range and the number say 0-35. Is this normal??? And they drew some more blood work for afp, serum, tumor marker. It says flag range as well and the numbers are. 0.0-8.3 is this normal or do i need to go further on with my test???
Avatar f tn I am not too familiar with blood alcohol, but I would think that maybe you could have been dehydrated and that could have caused the reading. Try drinking more water next time.
Avatar f tn next step would be something like Imuran, then Humira). Have you gotten any blood tests recently? C-Reactive counts, Sedimentary rate, and White Blood Cell counts can be markers of imflammation or a change in something. Vitamin D will probably be low if you're not absorbing anything in your gut (i.e. frequent diarrehea). Personally, if you're at 15x a day, I would go find a different GI. Pentasa just treats the inflammation but doesn't go systemically if its a greater problem.
