Avatar n tn This is a very low blood alcohol level where the average individual appears normal.
Avatar n tn I am a 40 yr old female, I recently had my yearly blood work done, and the results on it was all in range except my Ast level was a 9, and my alt level was a 4, which on my labs are below (out of range), I tried looking on the internet, but all I read are meanings for high level (out of range) results, My doctor says as long as the others are in range, there is no concern for those levels, I was a heavy drinker in my 20's I now drink about 6-7 beers on Fridays and Saturday, could these resul
Avatar f tn Yes, alcohol affects blood sugar level - Each and Every time it's consumed. that being said, High blood sugar and high blood alcohol content would be 2 separate elements measured in Your blood. 80% of the alcohol from EVERY drink goes directly to the blood stream and, THAT is why You have high blood alcohol content. Four drinks would put everyones' blood alcohol above the legal limit Alcohol is harmful to the body - as is diabetes.
Avatar n tn Also pls decrease his alcohol intake.Enzymes which aid in breakdown of alcohol are synthesized by the liver and so consumption of alcohol also adds to the extra pressure. Moreover, consultation of a hepatologist and a detailed investigational profile of the liver are necessary at the moment. Hope it helps.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn I was tested for heamochromatosis and was negative. So, was advised to donate blood once or twice a year to keep iron level down in the normal range.
Avatar m tn iam 24 years old.I think i have an erection problem.so i took blood test. my T level is 5.08 (my lab says normal level is 4.80-13.6). Is it normal for a guy of this age? what should i do?
Avatar m tn 0 - 42 U/L Optimal Adult Reading: 21. Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase or ALT is an enzyme found primarily in the liver but also to a lesser degree, the heart and other tissues. It is useful in diagnosing liver function more so than SGOT levels. Normal Adult Range: 0 - 48 U/L Optimal Adult Reading: 24 In your case,SGPT levels are greater than SGOT.
Avatar m tn My SGOT level is 171, normal range is 12-50. MY SGPT level is 105, and normal range is 21-72. I have been a pretty heavy drinker for years, which is most likely the reason for the high levels. Anybody know if I were to quit drinking altogether, would these numbers fall back into the normal range? Idfso, how long would that take? Problem is I like to drink, and I have never had a problem on account of it, but I guess I might have to quit if it is screwing me up.
Avatar m tn I would say that broadly this is an acceptable blood pressure for someone your age. Generally blood pressure targets in patients with hypertension advocate for <140/90 with slightly lower goals for patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. With many of my older patients, I am very interested in how they tolerate a given blood pressure.
Avatar n tn If someone has a blood alcohol level of 4.5%, does this mean that they are intoxicated?
Avatar m tn My SGPT level is 208mg/dl. Kindly let me know how to get it in range. And the diet to be followed. My company health policy says it has to be in range as required to be. What could be the cause for such high levels ??? A week before i had muscle spasm due to excess of weight lifting in gym. And as a result i ended up taking pain killer (Flexon-MR) recommended by a doctor. Can this be a cause to reflect the SGPT level high ???? Awaiting for your prompt reply Sir. Thanking you. Vinay.
Avatar f tn t really have a lot of symptoms - before that, my doctor was investigating why my cholesterol level was so high, as my diet/weight etc are all pretty good. I spent six months trying to bring the cholesterol into the normal range - and succeeded (although it's still on the high side - the doc was happy) just by cutting down on dairy foods. When my TSH level was discovered to be 5.83 (I live in France so the levels may be different - normal range is from 0.18 - 3.
740140 tn?1232426714 When I went into er they did a triponin test and it showed that the level was ok and then 8 hours later it jumped to the 9.2 level. I was just wandering if that is a level that is super high or what? I mean, how high can a triponin level get while someone is haveing a heart attack?
Avatar m tn The enzymes spill into the blood when the liver cells are damaged. The enzymes will revert back to normal range, if the insult to the liver is controlled. So, avoid alcohol and take the medications prescribed by your doctor. And recheck the values after 4 weeks. Was GGT done? Normal value for Glutamyl Ttansferase (GGT) is 8-38. GGT can be used to screen for chronic alcohol abuse (it will be elevated in about 75% of chronic drinkers).
Avatar f tn I had to go to the emergency room again last month and again, they did blood work. My glucose level was only 88. I am just wondering if I should be looking into this. Could I be diabetic? They never said anything about the high level. I found out when I went to pick up my medical records from the hospital. Also, both visits were in the morning so I hadn't eaten anything since the night before. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar m tn One blood level can't not be used to diagnose anything many blood levels related to the injury to the liver or poor function are needed to draw any conclusion. AST, AST, Alkaline Phosphatase, GGT, bilirubin, INR, platelet count, etc. So number are needed with blood test results. High could mention anything form slightly higher than the normal range to 10x or 100x normal values. Different values mean different things. In order to answer your questions we need real numbers. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Most common causes of isolated AST level would be alcohol use. If you are drinking abstain for alcohol and repeat the test to see if it improves. If it continues to be elevated, you may want to consider a hepatitis screen and a liver ultrasound (to evaluate for fatty liver or other anatomical abnormality). If everything is negative, I would periodically observe the level to ensure it isn't rising. It isn't high enough to warrant a liver biopsy.
Avatar f tn 29 oz) If you have 2 of that size within that hour your blood alcohol level will go up. If you have two in less than half an hour you will no doubt be over the legal driving limit. Women metabolise alcohol faster than men, and smaller bodies do so faster as well. So No, the Graves is not the issue. The amount and time of the drinking is the issue. I know from having been in the US the glass for wine is huge....here in Australia we have a law that it must be only 275ml or less.
