Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol impairment chart

alcohol

Avatar n tn If someone has a blood alcohol level of 4.5%, does this mean that they are intoxicated?
Avatar f tn Basically, ammonia levels are of limited use for diagnosing cirrhosis or hepatic impairment. I would also think some other results of your blood work would have been out of range if you are cirrhotic or are suffering significant liver impairment. I haven't seen vertigo cited as a symptom of encephalopathy but it may be. I think you would be experiencing more mental issues that just a little forgetfulness which I think we all have to one degree or another.
Avatar m tn What is the most accurate correspondence between the Snellen chart and prescription in diopters? Someone else in this forum posted the following: - 1.00 D = 20/100 - 2.00 D = 20/200 - 3.00 D = 20/300 and so on and so forth till... -10.00 D = 20/1000 There was no source for this chart. Thus, I have no idea how credible it is. I suspect there are better estimates out there.
Avatar f tn When the EF (ejection fraction indicates the amount of blood pumped with heartbeat), it almost always is the result of a heart wall impairment. A damaged heart wall is unable to contract forcefully and as a result a low EF. Normal EF is 50 to 70%. Damaged heart walls can be the result of a prior heart attack that harmed heart cells. Heart cells can be damaged due to toxins (alcohol, drugs medication), due to blocked vessels, prior illness, etc.
Avatar m tn While most people are familiar with the short-term physical effects of alcohol on the human brain, few people realize some of the long-term effects of alcohol are permanent and incredibly disabling to the brain, and can cause physical and mental impairment for life. The effects of alcohol when a driver gets behind the wheel, places the lives of others as well as his/her own at risk.
Avatar n tn alcohol W/D is a medical emergancy A person in alcohol W/D may experience frighting Hallucinations and DT (delirium Tremens) a syndrome characterized by restlessness, fever, sweating, disorientation, agitation, convulsions, and death, seizures. severe acute alcohol ingustion can cause Hypoglycemia (low blood suger).
Avatar f tn 28 days post exposure to vaginal blood on hand. washed with soap and water. no obvious open cuts or sores but dry, cracked, winter skin. headache (possibly due to very high blood pressure?) neck feels swollen but can't feel any swollen glands. need to test ASAP. stress level off the chart. which test is most accurate the soonest? Avatar f tn She was also telling me that he was supposedly on medication and that concerned me because he was drinking and if he is on medication for a speech impairment should he even be drinking alcohol at all or might it be okay if he only drinks socially? Could it possibly be that he shouldn't be drinking because he on medication in general not based on the the fact he is taking the medication for a speech impairment.
Avatar n tn My body has adjusted to low blood oxygen I work full time and lead a reasonble life,is it best to leave well alone even though I am very breathless and must admit am getting a bit worse or try steroids as has been suggested.
Avatar n tn That condition is almost always assoicated with a lack of sufficient blood/oxygen to the area in question. Many individuals have a lack of blood flow to the area due to occlusion of coronary arteries. Also, there can be a depletion of oxygenated blood due to low oxygen level in the blood. Or there could have been an episode of a silent heart attack sometime in the past. That was my experience.
Avatar f tn However, it is sure that alcohol can cause quick impairment of brain when taken with Paxil. The hangover caused by consuming these two simultaneously will be worse. Also, this practice causes a craving for alcohol. It also causes anger and anxiety. It is also important to know that this combination will lead you to very painful experiences." http://www.paxiloral.com/paxilandalcohol.html Not only are you acting out in a very negative way, but you're starting a bad habit.
1328576 tn?1275061930 Hypokinesis is an impairment of heart wall movement and often the result of blood perfusion to the location of the impairment. The seriousness relates to the degree of impairment, location, and underlying cause. How was the diagnosis of hypokinesis determined?
283921 tn?1218525506 Talk to your doctor about alternatives for lowering BP. I have have read that sugar, caffiene, alcohol, and stress can increase blood pressure, so try to reduce or elimate as many possible sources as you can. I have read that Omega3 fatty acids may decrease blood pressure. I have read celery, garlic and onions may reduce blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Essentially she feels it is not anything to be overly concerned about and feels that I can just go on to lead a normal life without any impact on duration or quality. My blood pressure is low and always has been. I did not find out which specific cardiomyopathy it is and wondered if you would be able to suggest which you thought it could be? Everything else in my heart looks to be normal. Thank you Jessica My echo did say: Normal LV size with low normal systolic function.

Avatar n tn Either way there is an impairment of heart wall movement (hypokinesis), If the cells are in hibernation, a restoration of good blood flow can revitalize the heart cells. Seven years ago I had had a silent heart attack, enlarged left ventricle, occluded vessels, an EF below 29%, congested heart failure...There was a stent implant of one vessel and medication to date has returned my heart to normal size and the EF is 59%.
Avatar n tn s legal definition of disablity. The definition of visual impairment or legal blindness is that with best correction your better eye must have a visual acuity of 20/200 or worse. Or your best corrected visual field at its widest must be no more than 20 degrees. Please, note that the definition is WITH BEST CORRECTION in the BETTER EYE. That means with corrective lenses, glasses or contacts (although, for a field test glasses can not be used, because they restrict your field)!
Avatar f tn Hypokinesis is an impairment of heart wall movement. That condition will reduce the heart's contractility causing less than normal cardiac output. Normal output is approximately 55 to 75% (ejection fraction) of the left ventricle during the pumping phase. Usually hypokinesis is the result of a prior heart attack and/or heart muscle disease caused by viral infection, excessive alcohol or drugs, medication, genetic, etc.
Avatar m tn I'm a 37male and started checking my blood pressure at local pharmacy a few months ago. It is averaging around 168 over 95. The chart on the machine says that it is high. Should I go in or is it only borderline? I had a physical about 3 1/2 years ago and don't remember anything then. I was in a for a procedure (vas) a year and a half ago and it was a slightly high but they considered it "nerves". Thoughts?
Avatar m tn Hypokinesis means heart wall impairment. Perfusion is blood flow. Inferobasal is the heart wall location. When there is a decrease of blood flow (ischemia) that can/will effect the heart wall movement (hypokenisis). It appears you have slight heart wall impairment due to heart vessel blockage medically referred to as CAD (coronary artery disease).
Avatar f tn s ability to adequately pump blood into circulation or the impairment is of less significance and can pump enough blood/oxygen to meet the damand. The defect is global rather than a specific area of the LV. Hypokinesis is often caused by a heart attack. However, the contractile function of the heart can sometimes be restored after the initial treatment of a heart attack by treating the blockage(s) with medication, angioplasty or bypass surgery.
