alcohol

Avatar f tn Alcohol is a known vasodilator, meaning that it opens up your blood vessels, which can cause a drop in blood pressure. This in turn causes your heart rate to go up since your body tries to compensate and keep up the blood pressure. It is also common to get dizzy from low blood pressure.
5955551 tn?1377316619 I basically agree with HesAPooka, but I'll give a little more detail. The usual recommendation -- for people who are in good health and who have no heart problems -- is to limit alcohol intake to one drink per day for females and two drinks per day for males. Males are expected to be able to handle more alcohol than females, because their livers usually produce higher amounts of alcohol dehydrogenase, which is the enzyme that detoxifies alcohol.
Avatar n tn they are unlikely to be a migraine equivalent, but it is possible. There is one type of migraine equivalent called confusional migraine. This is said to occur exclusively in children but has rarely been seen in young adults as well. The symptoms of confusional migraine include a period of confusion and disorientation (usually a few hours but in some cases of up to 2 days), with or without agitation, sometimes followed by vomiting, which is relieved by sleep. Headache may not be prominent.
Avatar f tn Five ounces of wine is equivalent to 1 1/2 of 80 proof distilled liquor. In other words alcohol is alcohol to me & I wouldn't risk it.
Avatar f tn Those oh, so, tasty mixed drinks...can have the equivalent of anywhere from 1 - 6 alcohol servings (or more) in one glass. Read up on what it is you intend to imbibe. This is definitely a case of what you don't know can kill you, and possibly someone else.
326176 tn?1239515689 Sorry to see you haven't gotten in helpful insight. I can't help but respond to suggest an EF of 30% should be survivable unless it is just a point on an every decreasing EF. What has your doctor told you about the EF causes and expected future performance? I am one who believes moderate drinking of alcohol would have negligible affect on the EF. Here I use moderate to be one, maybe two classes of wine or equivalent a day.
Avatar n tn I'm not to sure really but I just read an article where they are using there newborn sons cord blood to rewire there first child's brain by replacing stem cells in order for him to be able to walk. And I think... say your child would develop cancer they could use this blood to treat it and it is an equivalent to bone marrow.

Avatar n tn Hi alcohol can cause low blood sugar levels for some due to its effect on the liver. But even more it can cause those person with diabetes to pay less attention to their health and blood sugars. This does not mean you can never drink alcohol, But it should be taken in moderation only. When you do have a first drink (remember moderation) do it in the company of a trusted friend so you can safely see the effect it has on you.
Avatar n tn Hi fahadali2008, hope you are feeling better and able to have some sleep? Since when were you taking Lexotinal for sleeplessness and how much useful was it? Had it been prescribed by a doctor? Can you say the reason for stopping the use of this drug completely? Did you have any serious side effects of the drug? It is better you consult your attending physician or consult a sleep specialist before abruptly stopping the drug to be advised on the alternate medications.
Avatar f tn Yes, alcohol affects blood sugar level - Each and Every time it's consumed. that being said, High blood sugar and high blood alcohol content would be 2 separate elements measured in Your blood. 80% of the alcohol from EVERY drink goes directly to the blood stream and, THAT is why You have high blood alcohol content. Four drinks would put everyones' blood alcohol above the legal limit Alcohol is harmful to the body - as is diabetes.
Avatar n tn Pho that I should have mentioned. I drink the equivalent of 12 oz of alcohol a day and have done so for many years. Thanks!
Avatar n tn by lionsfourme, 1 minute ago Had sex with a stripper with not a great past sexually. Lots of drugs (cocain) alcohol.. I tried to use protection during the sexual encounter but the condom slipped off during the act. Might have been 1-2 minutes of exposure. I stopped and put a new condom on and completed with the condom on. What is my risk for HIV? Should I consider PEP since I'm in the window period.

Avatar m tn Diagnosed with fatty liver 6 years ago. Also have gout. 44 years old 5-10 / 200. My favorite beverage is fermented fruit juice, which I make by storing and opening commercial apple juice in the fridge for weeks. Then I just mix with water 1/2 and 1/2. Gets nice carbonated pop going but I really don't consider this to be alcohol. I've basically been drinking this for the last 3Y. Aside from that, I drink a beer every 6 months. Maybe some wine every 2 months.
Avatar m tn To put that into perspective, taking 25mg of klonopin would be equivalent to taking 500mg valium - a presposterous dose, and MUCH, MUCH more than ANY reputable MD would prescribe due to concerns about respiratory and other CNS depressant effects. Very commonly combined with other CNS depressants such as alcohol, barbituates, opiods, etc. would lead to serious respiratory failure, including coma and death.
Avatar f tn Eat foods that are high in antioxidents this will assist your liver with removing toxins from alcohol. Exercise will force blood in to the muscles pushing out the toxins as well. Do this a long with the water and you will be feeling and smelling much better. If you ever drink again you will smell like this forever so don't do it! lol j/k I wish you the best!
Avatar m tn Is it possible to have an equivalent test result when you have not been exposed to the herpes infection? Can a virgin have an equivalent test result?
