481269 tn?1208280771 It worked great for me loosing weight. But, I do have 2 friends that mixed alcohol and phentermine and it was NOT a pretty site. It can increase some of the side effects of phentermine. It makes you have the ability to drink a lot more than you are used to, and it actually made both of my friends crazy in behavior.

Avatar m tn Yes weight, I weighted about 245 at 6' 5", overweight by about 35 pounds by current USA standards. My sleep doctor (Pulmonary) said he could see some constriction in my throat due to excess weight. I have lost about 20 pounds and I think that cured my mild OSA. I will have to take at least another recording Oximeter test to confirm.
283921 tn?1218525506 Talk to your doctor about alternatives for lowering BP. I have have read that sugar, caffiene, alcohol, and stress can increase blood pressure, so try to reduce or elimate as many possible sources as you can. I have read that Omega3 fatty acids may decrease blood pressure. I have read celery, garlic and onions may reduce blood pressure.
Avatar m tn I finally started a blood pressure medication which brought it immediately down. Others are able to start by controlling their blood pressure through life style changes. Things like maintaining proper weight. Know the target BMI and where your partner is. Begin trying to eat healthy. The DASH diet is a great thing to incorporate. This is similar to the Mediterranean Diet, Basically, less red meat, more fish. Less processed food, more vegetables and fruits.
Avatar n tn When demographic data mentioned above were subjected to multiple stepwise linear regression analysis, liver weight (LW) was best predicted in younger people (16-50 years) by body weight, age, and gender: LW (g) = 452 + 16.34 × BW + 11.85 × age - 166 × gender (r2 = 0.381; gender: 1 = female, 0 = male). In contrast, in elderly people (51-70 years) LW was best predicted by BW and age only. Gender was not a significant factor. LW (g) = 1390 + 15.94 × BW - 12.86 × age (r2 = 0.35).
1102792 tn?1285925260 ve realised that most of my probs are caused by heavy alcohol and cigs consumption, my heart doesnt seem to be able to take the pressure of beating very fast which i believe is caused by acetlydehyde an alcohol metabolite, and narrowed arteries, due to heavy smoking, also i am very sensitive to salt, infact reducing salt in my diet has more effect on my bp than all the drugs i am taking combined, when i cut down salt in my diet my bp drpped from an average of 130/80 (wihtout alcohol consumtion)
Avatar m tn whenever I drink alcohol (just 1 drink). Before going to bed my blood sugar is about 110 whether I drink alcohol or not. But my fasting glucose is between 140 and 150 if I drink alcohol and it is from 115 to 125 if I don't consume any alcohol the previous night. In summary the dawn phenomenon is exasperated by alcohol. But every thing I am reading is against this. I'm wondering if any one has any logical explanation for this.
Avatar f tn So I see that alcohol seems to definitely make pvcs worse. As I love my glass of wine each night, I'm trying to choose between giving that up completely, or going on the metropolol. What is everyone's experience with that med? Is it pretty helpful? Would I have to abstain from alcohol anyway, while on the med? I'm also wondering about the effectiveness of biofeedback. I've read that it can help with blood pressure and irregular heatbeat. Does anyone know anything about this?
Avatar n tn The only way to know if some other medications will help or not is to find the cause of high blood pressure. Recent head injury, hyperthyroidism, renal artery stenosis (by dopplar studies or MRI), abnormal kidney function (by kidney function tests), hyper function of adrenals, Cushing’s syndrome, abnormal liver function etc need to be ruled out. You should consult a cardiologist for high BP.
309783 tn?1271958229 He drinks at least 80 units of alcohol a week and virtually never eats, often going 48 hours without food. He usually suffers with loose stools because of this. Last week however, he started bleeding spontanteously from his anus, obviously not associated with constipation or straining. What could be causing this? I am so concerned and want to convince him to go to the doctor. Eloise.
Avatar f tn Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the build up of extra fat in liver cells that is not caused by alcohol. It is normal for the liver to contain some fat. However, if more than 5% - 10% percent of the liver’s weight is fat, then it is called a fatty liver (steatosis). WHO IS LIKELY TO HAVE NAFLD? NAFLD tends to develop in people who are overweight or obese or have diabetes, high cholesterol or high triglycerides. Rapid weight loss and poor eating habits also may lead to NAFLD.
Avatar m tn What you need to keep in mind, though (especially we young people overreacting on adrenaline) is that both alcohol and beta blockers reduce blood pressure (hence our heart rate seems to increase with drinking to compensate) and we can get dizzy due to low blood pressure (in addition to the alcohol;). I took my 15 mgs of Pranolol today and I'm going out for a beer today. It's never been a problem before. Ask your doctor though, just to be completely sure.

Avatar n tn Regular exercise that increases intensity can cause a release of CPK into the blood stream. Weight lifting and running are two types of exercise that can increase blood levels of CPK because there is mild damage caused to muscle tissue involved in the building of new muscle tissue. However, your doctor can perform (well he could have anyway) that indicates WHICH CPK levels are high; whether it is skeletal, brain or cardiac.

Avatar f tn BAC would be in hours spent drinking, body weight and number of drinks consumed in a certain timeframe.Your blood alcohol level would've been @ .32!that is triple the legal limit for intoxication!did u drive urself home?
Avatar m tn A person can have a condition such as NAFLD or hepatitis C infection for example and still have normal blood levels. Further testing is required to assess the resulting damage to the liver caused by these conditions. Which by the way, are commonly asymptomatic conditions themselves.
Avatar m tn I think it has to do with the fact you are not 22 anymore, are overweight, have high blood pressure and going on what is a hard walk for you while still having alcohol in your system. Any type of physical activity if you still have alcohol in your system is bad. Seriously... You want help..drop the excess weight, don't exercise while still having alcohol in your system.
Avatar m tn wouldn't that mean there was more alcohol than blood.
