Common Questions and Answers about Bloating while pregnant

gas

Hi, i have just found out 2 weeks ago that i'm pregnant. My test showed i was 5 weeks, and i recently just been for a scan and was showing a black shadow in the uterus but unable to rule out being eptopic at this stage because they could not see anything? I'm going back in another week for a scan but concerned because i look about 5 months pregnant i am really bloated and even had to invest in some maternity trousers for work. Is this normal?
The high levels of progesterone while you are pregnant cause gas and bloating. The progesterone relaxes the smooth muscle tissue of the digestive tract, slowing digestion and leading to gas and bloating. There are a few things that you can do to help with the bloating. Avoid large meals, eat smaller more frequent meals. Avoid carbonated drinks. Finally, exercise, like walking, will help speed digestion. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Hope this helps.

Curious about bloating.....if you were not bloated prior to taking thyroid meds but become extremely bloated about 1-2 weeks after taking them....what causes that? This has happened several times to me (when being place on thyroid meds). Bloating does not exist prior to meds and went away when I went off meds????? Dr. said it was from being slightly hypo but I do not believe that and know that is was not like that weeks and weeks before when levels were actually higher! Any ideas???
For the last 3 years, have had extreme bloating, not PMS bloating, but bloating and looking like I am 9 months pregnant. I eat very little and bloat immediately. I bloat no matter what type of food I eat, it doesn't matter. No one can find the answer. Last summer, I had an emergency appendectomy. While performing that operation, they noticed that my small intestine was blocked, so they took out a foot of my intestine.
I am having worse nausea, headaches and bloating than I ever had while pregnant. My stomach had gone down completely after the miscarriage, and now it looks just as big (if not bigger) than before. For all those that haven't taken Progesterone before: It stops bleeding by tricking your body into thinking it is pregnant. When you stop the medication, 2-4 days later you get a period. It is getting hard not to hope I am pregnant.
was on leveln for 5 months swapped to yaz due to bad mood chnges been takeing yaz for just 12 days now and have had thrush and extreme bloating been bloated for 4 days now feel pregnant and fat?
It is all in natures design to help our bodies make the most of what we can keep down while we are pregnant. It will go away, watch the salt, don't cut it out, but don't over do it. If you find yourself constipated, add some fiber.
I was on a very restricted allergy diet for a while, including no wheat, and while I didn't get to eat anything good, I felt amazing. Now I eat just about everything again, but I limit breads & pastas. I didn't see the 9 mo part at first...measure yourself before & after! I hope you are exaggerating a lot, but if not...def call your dr!
I was recently diagnosed with Gastritis, IBS-C. The bloating and belching never stops! Ive been into medications for a while but I quit. my belly is bulging and heavy. I have never felt normal again ever since.
yup symptoms disappear and then come back or just stay away for a while,im 10 weeks pregnant with my first and haven't had an ultrasound yet so im a lot worried! ive not been sick or anything only thing I have is missed periods, positive tests, bloatedness and constipation which also like your bloating has completely faded away and back to normal now! I don't even feel pregnant as of yet,but im told not to worry so I don't think you should either, you will feel better when you see them again!!
Has anyone on this site ever experienced stomach bloating ? I just assumed it was attributable to MS. The other annoying thing I have been dealing with is paresthesia mostly in groin area ... if you couple that with the lower back pressure/pain that I get from time to time, would suggest sacral nerves are affected perhaps?
I have had an abdominal problem for a while now and I have been to the doctor a few times and had several tests done and they still are not sure what is wrong. Lately every night I have been getting really REALLY bloated to where my entire abdomin is rock solid and I can't stand up without it pulling and it is really painful. It gets to the point where I look pregnant. Has this every happened to anybody? What could this be from or mean? How can I get it to settle?
i have done quite a bit of research, and i think what a lot of us are suffering from is something called Functional Abdominal Bloating. it is sort of like IBS without any of the other IBS symptoms; just the bloating and distention. i recommend you check it out and see if it fits your symptoms. the literature seems to recognize three reasons for these functional problems: dysmotility, visceral hypersensitivity, and some kind of disconnect between the brain and the gut.
I have had a lot of abdominal bloating, but I also get a feeling of fullness/heaviness higher up, closer to my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I tend to get a shooting/stabbing pain near the ovary where the cyst is located. Many times that pain radiates to my rectum. Is that normal? Could it be that the cyst is putting pressure on other organs? That seems hard to believe since it is only about 3cm which seems small to me.
Hi! I was woundering is it ok to get a massage while pregnant? I've never had one before and my back muscles have been realy sore, I thought a massage might help. I had back and neck problems before I got pregnant but now it seems to be more frequent and bothersome.

So ever since I was teenager I've always bloated after I ate but after I got married almost four years ago it started to get worse and I realized it wasn't normal. My symptoms have always been bloating after meals and constantly burping. The last couple of years they have worsened to my stomach constantly being bloated and hard as a rock. The burping has always been an issue. I wake up in the morning and I look normal but as the day goes on I get bloated and it gets harder.
I went with the doctor she went too and he is the type that doesn't like weight gain in the first trimester and he applys strict healthy diets. My friends daughter is now one and healthy and she was petite while pregnant. I wanna do the same but even if the doctor days it's fine idk.
Its so confusing because there have been so many women who have gotten pregnant while using a birth control contraceptive.

Also, since you produce more blood when pregnant, you are at an increased chance of bleeding. However, if you received a tattoo while pregnant, before knowing you were pregnant, there is little reason to worry as long as you went to a reputable artist who uses properly sterilized equipment and followed the after care instructions.
