bloated stomach pain under ribs

my upper stomach just under my ribs feels really uncomfortable and bloated, when i press it it goes in, it feels like its filled with air. its quite big and sticks out under my clothes. i dont know what to do.

Wow, you sound like me. Pain in my center chest (sternum). Slight pain under ribs. Belching. Also I have bloated feeling. Went to ED and mentioned "chest pain". Wow that was a mistake, But, they did check everything having to do with the heart and all came back normal. Do you have any more info on your problem?

The sternum is painful (mostly all the time)and hurts to push on it. I also have slight stomach and under ribs pain. LOTS of belching and a bloated feeling. Went to ED and they did blood work, ekg, etc. I am under lot of stress at the moment. This seems to me to be a stomach and or esophogus issue. I have been taking prevacid for years and never had this problem before. Last night I took a vicodin and it felt much better. Maybe took care of the pain or relaxed me to stop worrying.

hi ive had pain under both my ribcages seems like a heavy feeling, its worse on the right side and when i breathe in deep my left side feels weird almost as if something is stretching, im getting an upper GI endoscopy soon but all my blood work has turned up normal, ive also been very constipated lately for about 3 wks and my symptoms all started with mild heartburn that went away and is now mainly the ribcage pain and the constipation, i also belch all the time...any ideas on what it might be?

You dont give much information, where does it hurt him? right under ribs can be gall Bladder, also GERD causes burping and pain in middle of the stomack also where the esophagus is located, you can get meds for this, give us more to go on.

but man, i have to waddle when i walk since it hurts, even to lift or move my legs, and i have pain under my ribs as well and eating feels like it stretches my stomach or something and is uncomfrotable... well if pregnancy makes it worse i'm praying it gets worse then! : ) In the past it got a little better and in the first pregnancy i stayed hugely bloated and uncomfortable until a couple of weeks after the mc... Walking around also helps clear gas. Pain under right ribs with gas can be due to any inflammatory bowel disease like Celiac or Crohn’s, IBS or due to food intolerance. Pain under right rib case can also be due to pleurisy, asthma, or any other lung problems. Usually this is accompanied by lung related symptoms like breathlessness, cough etc. If all these are ruled out, then laparoscopy should be done, especially if you have a previous history of any abdominal or pelvic surgery.

I'm only 24+3 and for the last week and half I can't sit or lay on either side without this horrible pressure of pain under my left ribs.. It doesn't feel like his foot stuck up under there but I can't do anything bout it. Mom said it could be my organs needing a place to go and they chose there... Anyone else have this?? I can only describe the feeling of bloatedness as sore,burning sensation like a balloon about to burst. The pain under my ribs however is as if someone is poking a sharp object into me?? At times it takes my breath away.......i feel it pretty much all of the time but more so after food intake.i take laranoprazole 30mg a day....this takes a little pressure from the top of my tummy away although unsure its doing anything else.

I visited the doctor who told me i have a hiatus hernia. He felt it. I am booked to some tests at the end of april. However I doubt that is the sole problem. Reading up the symptoms. I don't have them. My pain resembles the hiatus in that I get the bloated full feeling after even a small meal ( however not always, this comes and goes). This attack wont go. I am in constant pain. Mostly on my right side high up, where I imagine my liver is.

hi, i have been having pain under the ribs on the left side for years, it used to happen after eating vinegar, very oily food, etc, now almost constantly., and worse after those foods. it feels like bloated and even the floating rib feels very sensitive. sometimes the pain goes to the back or up the ribs.

I also have pain in my right groin area, a hollow/bloated/pressure sensation between my ribs, distended stomach, right side and lower back pain, light-colored stools, occasional nausea but no vomiting and nighttime itching. Gallbladder removed in 1997 and I am Non-celiac gluten intolerant and on a gluten free diet. The pain is worse after eating but is constant. Taking Protonix, Amitiza and IB Guard for IBS, which I've had since my teens. EGD and colonoscopy from 2013 were normal.

In Feb 09 I started to have pain under my right ribsRib cage pain, hida scan showed low % fuctioning rate, so they removed it. (MAY) 1 week after surgery I awoken with screaming pain. Lasted for 6 hours then went to ER. They told me it was inflammation from the surgery and sent me home. The pain has not went away since!!! Everyday I have had a stomach ache all the time. The pain is in the lower left side under my ribs. The pain is a cramping pain and sometimes there are sharp pains. 3 days ago my stomach visibly looked strange. In the beginning i thought maybe I had gained weight but my stomach bloated outdated almost like a bung, it has now gone down a bit. My feels a bit stiff. I don't know what it could be because I eat a relatively healthy diet and go to the loo almost everyday..

Like right above my baby bump there is an indent and then my actual stomach right under my ribs sticks out too. Is this normal??

Off and on for a couple of months now I've been having this pain in my upper right quadrant, sometime to the right of my navel, and most times just "under" my ribs on the right side. In June I had an endoscopy which revealed mild esphogitis and mild gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. (At that time it all started witha horrible bloated feeling all the time.) So, the gastro doc thought he had the answer.

It gets worse after food or any drink that isnt water sometimes I burp and it hurts in my chest and I burp up stomach acid.. My stomach is bloated most of the time.. wearing a girdle seems to ease my symptoms also.. My grandmother has a peptic ulcer, I dont know if thats hereditary, I have a couple sousins who take medicine for IBS also.. Im just wondering if anyone knows what these symptoms are and if they are related to the medicine or the diet or if it might be a medical condition..

hi,i know this might sound silly,but it could simply be trapped wind,,as i get it alot,sometimes i feel like im going to explode,and my ribs hurt,and as u say a sence of pressure,but if u think about it,when ur gut is full of gas,ur stomach swells,but ur ribs dont move, so the stomach must press against the ribs,,but u could always go to see ur gp, just to get it checked out,good luck, viv

Im having pain under both ribs . Could this be the baby ? I'm 25&5 and he is very active ..

With my first I had that pain about 25-30 weeks and was told the baby was under my ribs. It last 3-4 days and was gone. I was crying cause of the pain!

There is dull pain that starts right where my ribs meets and radiates down both sides of my stomach. The dull pain is also in my back. I can't eat due to extreme nausea(I have a weird phobia, so I refuse to get sick). I burp and my stomach rumbles and flutters a lot. This is worse at night, and no matter what, I usually wake up around 2am feeling sick..I jump out of bed grab a Sprite or water until the feeling subsides. I can't lay flat on my back or stomach.

I feel like there is a huge air bubble in my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this or anyway to help this feeling.

I have lately been having a dull pain under right ribs now and then but daily for about four days. They want to start treatment in April.
