Walgreens sales an anti bite nail polish. It is really good it helped me with my bad nail bitting habits. It taste nasty therefore when you try to bite your nails you quickly retract. At the same time it gives your nails a clear glossy look. Try it.

You Should get some nail envy. . It's a strengthing clear nail polish that helps nails not break. I Used it when I had gels forever and my nails were so thin and breaking off and it helped lots!

I probably had a moderate problem (bit my nails where they were always halfway down the nail bed but def more than a sliver of nail left). All I did was paint my nails with a nail strengthening clear coat EVERYDAY. Even if the polish was still there I'd reapply. This way I never got to the actual nail. I would bite/pick at the polish but not the nail til the nail got long and strong enough.

That means you can no longer go into nail or hair salons anymore too. I have a habit of biting my nails so I used to get the acrylics put on to keep me from doing that. Had to let them fall off because the fumes are so strong. Hair salons are worse if they've been dying hair all day.

There is a type of nail 'polish' you can buy that tastes horrible, to help people who bite their nails to stop doing so. You can buy that at almost any convenience store. You can also set a type of reward system for yourself to help. Put a picture of a pretty manicure on your wall and use it as a reminder to try to keep your nails looking nice. Once you have successfully grown out your nails and left them alone, treat yourself to a manicure.

No lol it's safe just don't chew with nail polish on...nail polish just makes me want to pick and chew at my nails.

Okay, so I wasn't sure where to post this so.. And I saw one past that was here and I figured this wasas good a place as any. So, I'm 14 years old and my parents yell at me any time I start biting my nails. I've been biting them all my life. But when I bring up the fact that they can buy me things on the market to help control my bad habit, they refuse and say I need to use my will power. Only problem is I'm not a very willful girl.

I asked my doctor at my very first appointment which was 8+4 weeks if I was allowed to get my nails down and she said it. Was fine and suggested wearing a face mask, so I did. It's the nail polish. Any color can stain the nail but red or darker colors make it worse. Applying 1 or 2 clear base coats will help in the future with this like steph4302 said. Good luck.

I've bitten my fingernails my whole life since i was a little girl until they bleed and hurt and i pick at my skin as well. It's awful. Nail polish and stuff to paint on nails specifically to stop biting didn't help... Nothing helped until i started seeing a psychiatrist who prescribed me OCD drugs, but i was already well into my 20s so I'm not sure what a pediatrician can prescribe... But ask your doc about obsessive compulsive disorder.

Is using nail polish dangerous I just paint my toe nails could it affect my pregnancy I am 20 weeks?

Ok this has happened to me twice n the last 2 years or so... When I wear nail polish longer than say 3 week or so, I go to remove the polish and my 2 big toe nails are most white, looking like they've been scratched up. Does polish really cause this?? I'm afraid to just cover over it with new polish for fear it won't go away. The first time I saw that I did not put any polish on again and it tooks months and months for that to go away.

I bite them CONSTANTLY and have tried everything to quit. (Fake nails, bad tasting nail solution, gloves, bandaids, nail polish... You name it) On top of that, I also pick the skin of my lips, bite the inside of my mouth, crack my fingers and toes and more! I just looked an article up about nail polish and although there are some harmful chemicals in nail polish you can still paint your nails. The article just advised that you don't frequent the nail salon much and if you do paint your nails make sure to do so in a well ventilated room.

Okay. So i covered my nose so i wouldnt smell the nail polish but i was able to still smell it i only got to two nails and now i am freaking out !!???
