This started six months ago, I saw a dermatologist for general acne (very mild), she decided to prescribe me with tretinoin which in my opinion royally ****** me. I broke out badly, she never told me about a "purge". During that purge I got redness around my mouth, chapped lips, and a stuffy nose. I completely stopped tretinoin at that point.
Every since that day I have had chapped lips on and off (every 1-3 days), along with redness in the corners of my mouth.
A small but definitive localized spot above my lip (philtrum) has been red, flaking, in pain, and at times a little bit itchy since January. It has never fully healed for a long period of time, and has always required some sort of lubricant in order to keep it from drying out, flaking, and turning more red. At times, it looks completely normal....for a few hours or while being medicated.
After about a week, burning is near constant and off and on, also noticed a slight sore on my inner lip. There was a tiny bit of light kissing during my stupid adventure.
I am +10 days out and today went to a clinic and got STD testing, shots.
No warts or legions appearing.
No pain when I urinate.
No pain when I ejaculate (I tested).
The sore on my lip is actually generating heightened anxiety as I now think I've ruined my life.
Since I found out I had hsv in 2013, I've had two OB..one in July and one in nov. ..i then had another in jan 2014 and haven't had another one until now sept2014...why do u think I don't get them often? And when they come, it's only one tiny lump...it doesn't even form to a bump..it's more like a little cut with inflammation and honestly it doesn't give me any problem except if I wear tight undergarments or wash too hard. Why is that?
As far as I know I have always had cold sores on my lip. Are ALL cold sores HSV or are there different kinds of cold sores? If HSV why has my long term partner never contracted through kissing. We don't do oral sex. Is this easier to catch from oral cold sores?
Hello- i used to wax my lip but after a year if doing this, my skin above my lip became lighter. I know alot of people have a problem with the lip being darker from the rest of the face but my issue is the total oppostite. To deal with the problem i put darker makeup on my lip so you can't tell that my lip is ligheter from the rest of the face. I also tried tanning but that also didn't work.
now because of the slam, ive now had a sore bump on the outer lip... it swollen and very painful... ive tried all of my own home remedies and im alittle too embarrassed to go to the doctors. i am wondering if im over looking anything and if anyone has any remedies.
One is cheilitis grandularis. The other is cheilitis granulomatosa. Cheilitis glandularis affects the lower lip almost exclusively, although it has been reported to affect the upper lip. It presents as black marks due to puncta of the salivary gland swelling. Then viscous clear secretions and crusting may be there.
I suggest you to consult a good dermatologist and get a culture sensitivity of the fluid sample from lip and biopsy of the lip done to confirm the diagnosis.

I am 16 years old and I am overweight, I do not eat healthy at all. Ever since the beginning of the year I've had this itchy patch of skin above my lips. During the summer it went away, but when I school started back up I got it again. This time it's worse because it's around my lip and a little bit on my lip. Vaseline does nothing but keep it moisturized.

All you have to do is leave your lips dry and put no chapstick petroleum or moisturizer on your lip. The patches that show up on your lip are trying to form a scab on your lip to heal and replace your skin underneath this will take a while so your mask will be your best friend because it won’t look pretty.

There is a red rash on the far sides of both my eyes and the skin is slightly broken, mildly irritated and burns a bit. The bags under my eyes are now wrinkled and look streched with dry patches throughout. I have had this happen before twice in the last 5 years, but have not had any diagnosis or had this much irritation. m lips stays dry all the time and since its winter time almost the whole time I feel a kind of dry lip sensation.i have to keep applying lip balm every few hours. currently I am using nivea lip balm.
just to mention i have a chronic dry mouth problem.

It is right at the base of my gums where the inside if my lip meets, and there is actually a few of them right there on the gum and inside lip. I'm no stranger to canker sores but this one is actually causing my upper lip and the bottom of my nose to swell and the entire area is extremely painful. Everything I've read has said that canker sores would not cause that to happen but I've had it before where the canker sore has been in the same spot and caused the same reaction.

it started last year, when i noticed a bubble inside my lip, right by the front lower teeth. every day i was irritating it with my tongue, occasionally biting it. the bubble would disappear, then come back again. Shortly after i stopped ( a week ago) taking the medicine my left outer lip on my vulva became very swollen, however the swelling went down day by day and is now gone. My bottom lip and the inside of upper lip have turned black it has been that way ever since i was 16. I never had this problem before i was 16. I am 18 now and they are still black i have tried lemon juice but i don't think it would work. can you please help me and tell me what to do i am very concerned!!!!
