Common Questions and Answers about Bit lip injury

lip

Avatar m tn The next day or so, they began to burst and turned to the appearance of a non-serious injury (like that of a bruise) in appearance, and pained me like an injury does. Since yesterday, my upper lip has been healing, as it produces not little liquid similar to that of an injury anymore. It is now sealed up but appears like a healing injury. As for my sore throat, I hadn't felt nor now feel it at all while eating (like it doesn't exist).
Avatar n tn The worse injury appeared to be on my upper lip, but that is getting better. Is there an explanation for why my chin is still not getting better? Is there possible permanent nerve damage to the chin area? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Avatar m tn It was about 9 hours ago. Immediately after the injury there was a lot of blood coming from my nose. I went to the emergency room at a nearby hospital and they just gave me an ice pack. What I didn't notice at the time was that the side of my face that got hit was numb at some parts. I can not really feel the right half of my lips and some of the teeth there (when brushing). My cheeks seem okay, a little numb too. I also have a black eye now (the blood has pooled I guess).
Avatar f tn It did not have the tingling sensation that normally proceeds a cold sore, and feels sore- more like a mouth injury (like I bit my lip). Also looks different, not like a liquid-filled blister but more swollen, and with little white spots/bumps. I also have a few little white bumps on my upper lip - directly above it. I am with the same partner for 5 years, so I do not believe whatever it is, is sexually transmitted.
Avatar n tn Now, the skin healed but the cyst is still there - I can feel a little ball when I am pushing my tongue against the back of the lip, it also looks like a half-pea-sized pimple on my lip line. What do I do with it?
Avatar n tn You can apply a cold pack to the lip to reduce injury from the swelling. If it is not swelling anymore, no cold pack is advised. After the initial swelling, applying cold is not advised because it will reduce the blood flow to the area and slow healing. It is also important that you rest the lip. If it persists, have this evaluated by your doctor or dentist. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have an ulcer/lump on the inside of my mouth just below the bottom lip. It appeared suddenly then got smaller after a week and then stayed the same for another 4 weeks. I'm 28. Didn't think much of it until I did some googling, now starting to worry a bit. Meant to be going traveling on tuesday so not sure I can get to a doctor or dentist. Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn noticed a spot on lower left side of lip kind a looks like a blood cloth color something you would see after hitting your finger with a hammer by accident no lump does not hurt anyone have any ideas?
Avatar m tn Hi, no std produces symptoms the next day, maybe her lip balm. If you received symptoms the next day it would not be related to any std maybe an injury from the act itself.
Avatar m tn 3 weeks ago I was hit by a racquetball racket on the upper lip .The lip was not cut ,but bruised and swollen .The swelling has gone down but I have a small lump remaining .Since I was not cut could this be scar tissue or do I have to wait more time for the lump to go away ?
338416 tn?1420045702 Twice it was the dog, jumping up and running into my lip with his open mouth. Once I bit my tongue when I sneezed. All three times my face really swelled up - to the point where it looked like I was having an allergic reaction to something. The last time, when I bit my tongue, I was concerned that I would not be able to breathe through my mouth. This seems a little weird. I've never had this sort of extreme reaction to injury in my face.
Avatar m tn Hi, It doesnt matter that her semen might have came into my bruised lip? Not much but maybe just a little bit?
338416 tn?1420045702 Last year, while I was taking Copaxone, I would have the worst time with injury. If I bit my tongue on the side, it swelled up. If the dog managed to whack me on the lip, that would swell up too. Mosquito bites were the worst - the area would swell up and hurt. The swelling was all out of proportion to the injury. The doctor said it was angioedema, caused by injury, but couldn't find a cause. All that has gone away since I've been taking Betaseron. Well, here's my theory.
Avatar f tn Hello, Yesterday morning I woke up with a small painless bump about a centimeter from the corner of my mouth on my lower lip. It's on the lip itself, not the border and not inside my mouth. It's not red, it doesn't feel swollen, and it doesn't hurt, even if I touch it. At first I thought it might be a cold sore, though I've never had one before. I'm a very low positive for hsv-1, though I haven't confirmed with a Western Blot so it could be false.
Avatar n tn Since then, I have had a continous numb feeling in my left nostril, between my nose and upper lip, in my upper lip, and even in my upper gums. I can still move everything, but it feels like I recieved a shot of novicane in the area. Also, I think that I have lost my sense of smell in the notril that is numb. I light a piece of paper on fire and blew it out. I could not smell this when I plugged my right nostril and tried to smell through my left.
Avatar n tn or he bit it, bumped it with his chin or hand or caused some abrasion injury; resulting in inflammation. For it to happen so suddenly and only after oral sex I can't imagine it being anything other than minor swelling, it should go away in a few hours.
Avatar n tn m still suffering with the numbness and burning sensation in my lower lip, chin and lower teeth. Every day I pray this will be over but I wake up to the continuous pain. I have taken some advice on taking vitamin B12. I would like to know what the suggested dosage would be. Also, I was wondering if anyone ever tried acupuncture with any success. I would appreciate any advice.
Avatar m tn so I woke up yesterday and I had a fat lip, like I had been punched in the mouth in my sleep. I have no earthly idea how it got there. I also chewed way at the skin and now its slightly sore whenever I touch it with my tongue. I don't know what it is or how it got there. Any help?
654739 tn?1224333095 Hello, Your symptom of swelling of the upper lip without any prior injury is suggestive of Orofacial granulomatosis (OFG; also known as Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome or Cheilitis Granulomatosis). It is an uncommon inflammatory condition effecting the face and lips. People of all ages can be affected, but it is most common in the early adult years. In this condition, swelling of lip(esp upper lip) is present. Swelling of face and eyes may also be present.
Avatar f tn Hi, My upper lip from the middle and lower lip from the side always has some small bits of skin hanging there and after a certain time I have to remove them by peeling off. I think from that my upper and lower lip are swollen all the time. If someone looks at my upper lip it seems as if I have an injury there . I allply Vaseline every other night and it's effect is only in day but after sometime the lips get dry again. This has been happening from a long time (3-4) years.
Avatar n tn I split my upper lip and need 6 stitches about 2 and a half weeks ago and I got these stitches removed a week and a half ago. My upper lip feels stiff and I am finding it hard to smile as my upper lip isn't curving up. I am wondering is there anything I can do to make the lip less tight?
Avatar f tn I can assure you this is normal. I had the same sort of scab (from a clumsy mishap and bit in to my lip) dr checked it out and it's all part of the natural healing process . Nothing to be alarmed about. However do not pick or peel it off. To speed up healing you can take a shot glass full of warm salt water (sea salt or Himalayan) and swoosh it around. Definitely will sting but I found it actually helped with the pain and healing after.
1350085 tn?1279165453 Initially caused severe numbness, and rythmic shock-like pains through my chin and lip. Today after two corrective surgeries with bone grafting by an oral surgeon, the tooth is gone. Still partial numbness in lip, and stabbing pains at injury site, dull ache in chin, and pain when eating and touching. Much improvement after gutta percha removal surgery and microneurosurgery. Neruontin, hyrdrocodones, percocetes, naproxin, and clonazapam is recommended. 7 months post injury.
Avatar m tn Sounds like there was a traumatic injury to the nerve. The sensation should improve in that area gradually. Are you taking any medications for it? It may take up to 6 months for it to completely heal.
