Avatar f tn I am a 26 year old woman and i have been using the birth control pill yasmin for the past year and a half. Since then i have been experiencing mood swings and bouts of depression. I have also gone from 138 lbs to 120 lbs, i am 5'6 and 120lbs makes me look as though i am starving,i have very little appetite i have tried tonics to regain the weight but nothing seems to work i am not happy with my weight at all and how i feel. please help!
Avatar f tn I have had a weight problem all my life, and had gastric bypass in 2005 and lost over 130 pounds, so have not noticed weight as an issue for me, because I ahve other issues weight-wise and it would be hard to know if Yasmin was affecting my weight. I know when I have a period I can gain up to 10 pounds of water weight when that happens. My doc says there is no discernible reason for me to stop taking them way up until and into menopause.
Avatar f tn I gain weight very easily usually and struggle to maintain it off, but Yasmin never caused any problems in this respect, I'd say on the contrary. Spironolactone which is used to treat hirsutism or hair loss is a diuretic, and therefore it will actually help you not to retain water (I have this problem). These are the most common approaches and none of these will lead to weight gain.
Avatar n tn Hi my gyno put me of birth control pills to help get my ovaries producing hormones again and she said they would help releve some of the other symptoms...excess hair, acne etc. But I just started taking them two weeks ago and I feel sick to my stomach all the time, I feel exhausted tired....I am really over weight so that could be the cause of the tired feeling. But I just feel sick...has anyone else felt this way with these pills and are they really help full with treating symptoms??
360318 tn?1340393363 I take Yasmin birth control. Been on it 2 years, with a 6 month break and started again Jan 31, 2010. I've never had any problems with it. Always started a period, slight cramps (nothing horrible) and periods last 2-4 days with light flow. My moods, well I'm generaly a moody person to begin with, so I don't know if my moods have really changed since starting it. One thing is, if you have a history of blood clots or if your over 35 or smoke, then the pill is not for you.
704655 tn?1228685706 Hello, I also have dealt with the same since I was 19 I am now 28. My doctor have only prescibed birth control "Yasmin" to help control or even "cure" my facial hair from under my chin; However, I can't say that the Yasmin didn't work because I never really stayed on it long enough to find out b/c of the side affects. Nevertheless, you may be a different make-up than me. My body just couldn't handle it.
682098 tn?1236908245 I was on birth control for years and used in continuously for months at a time (Yasmin) and it didn't stop my endometriosis.
1447404 tn?1284604228 Birth control can sometimes cause weight gain...but not every woman is the same. I never had weight gain with Yasmin. Sleepiness is not a side affect of metformin. And also, not every woman who has PCOS has diabetes. As far has the birth control, it did lighten my period and made it shorter as well. I never had breakthrough bleeding with it. My body reacts to medications very well...I've never had any bad side affects from anything I took.
Avatar n tn got way longer on it- I used to only bleed for 4 days on Aleese, then gradually this increased and due to weight gain and water retention switched to Yasmin...well after a year on that I was bleeding for 8 to 9 days (still bleeding even while taking the 'active' pills) also I started getting cramps and what not and my dr kept saying that should not be happening since you only have a withdrawal bleed...
5121963 tn?1363905257 Hello! I had endometriosis, cysts, tumor and blood thickening on my right ovary and and it was removed during laparoscopy 8 years ago. I had smaller problems with my left ovary, so after the lap and in the next 5 years I was on YASMIN pills for stopping the endo from growing. After these 5 years I had a punctuation done, because one of the cysts became bigger and after that I was on ZOLADEX shots for six months (in a condition of menopause - awful side effects!!!).
Avatar n tn what birth control doesnt make you gain weight cause im 15 and just got diagnosed with pmdd and i need something that will help me with that and also keep my weight stable.....
Avatar n tn Does the birth control make you gain weight? I heard you can get implanted birth control but I don't wanna get that!!!
Avatar f tn Any reason why your doctor didn't put you on meds? I take metformin and yasmin birth control to regulate my period. You have to go back to your doctor for treatment. You cannot let pcos go untreated.
Avatar f tn 2 years ago I started a birth control pill called Yasmin and was on it for 2 years. During this time I was on and off it as it gave me alot of symptoms which included being very emotional, weight gain, low libido and more. These symptoms didn't exist when I started Yasmin, not until probably 6 months in, is when I started noticing that my body wasn't liking it. So I stopped it completely last year around August.
9690628 tn?1406826013 hey guys which is a great one to get I want to get the one they put in your arm but I heard it has a lot of weight gain...
Avatar n tn She can be treated with birth control pills to regulate her period and to decrease the production of hair. The best birth control pill would be Yasmin which contains a progestin called DSP which will decrease production of testosterone. Although, Yasmin can help decrease future hair production, the current hair can only be removed by electrolysis or plucking or removal.
Avatar f tn Hey what kind of birth control are you considering after birth??? Has anyone ever been on the depo shot? How did your body react? Avatar n tn Oh, I'm so sorry your daughter is going through this at such a young age. I really don't know what may cause her to bleed so much so often. What other symptoms does she have? Does she have excessive hair growth? Weight gain? Anything else that might indicate PCOS? Have the doctor see her so that they can run some tests, maybe an ultrasound or something. Good luck, honey.
Avatar f tn Which kind of birth control works best? I also dont want to gain weight from it.
Avatar f tn After pregnancy your doctors recommend you to go on birth control. But I'm going to try the IUD a few my friends told me it was good, no weight gain or hormones. No complications. I wouldn't do the shot it has a lot of hormones and makes you gain weight like crazy. At the end it's all about what you feel comfortable with.
