The Paxil IS helping you and this is why you no longer have to eat to feel better....good for you! One thing to help lose the weight is to eat every 3-4 hours, healthy snacks. Fresh fruit, handful of nuts, yogurt, chicken, vegetables, and exercise. Eating every few hours keeps your metabolism at it's peak.
Avatar f tn Once you stop taking them, etc you regain the weight. In order to lose weight and keep it off you will need to change your behavior and thinking. My advice would be to put your energy into understanding why you overeat. Dr Gould has some programs available for that. You could check out his recent blog entry by clicking on the expert activity part on the right of your screen. Or visit another of his sites at: shrinkyourself.com which has a lot of useful info.

Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
1835320 tn?1326270501 Hi everyone. I've been having weight problems since I was 11 when I discovered hormon problems. I am 22 now. I went to see my gynecologist a few days ago. He said the hormons are good now, not perfect, BUT better. My maximum weight was 100kg. I did this big diet 3 years ago and lost 22kg, so went down to 78kg. Since then, I've been having ups and downs but now I'm 93kg again and I can't lose weight and stablize. I always lose some and then gain it back. It's tiring.
Avatar f tn Yes, that meant some weight gain as I started eating enough, and I did binge at the beginning. I have that craving now less and less, as I've come to understand how much I need to eat (it's a lot more than I expected!). I also used to get a feeling of excitement when I ate something "bad" (usually in hiding), and without any off-limit foods, that is diminished.
Avatar n tn While I have been trying to purge less, I guess my eating habits have stayedthe same and I have gained an EXTREME amount of weight since february. I am 6ft tall and never been "underweight." But in february I was 160lbs and now I am almost 200pounds. I cannot continue to "recover" while gaining weight like this. It cannot be healthy. Yet, I don't know how to lose weight now that I am trying to give up the one thing that almost heped maintain my weight. PLEASE HELP!
847452 tn?1239851915 Girls your age are the population most at risk for eating disorders...most people with bulimia never lose much weight, and people with binge eating disorders usually gain weight. Starving during the day, binging at night and sometimes purging will keep your weight pretty much stable, doctors know that. Another thing...when you have an abusive parent it is -crucial- to have an external support network.
Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I used to have a bit of an eating disorder, hiding food, binge eating, and very self conscious of people seeing me eat, my weakness is definitely crisps. Any advice would be great because it's all I ever think about and it's taking over my life.
1341830 tn?1276119609 I've been a binge eater since about second or third grade. Right now I'm gonna turn 30 November and I have two kids under the age of 4. I am 5'3 and weigh about 245 pounds. I can exercise but it's my binge eating that has me worried. I really feel like I cannot control it. If I do try to control myself and not eat...I can't stop thinking about it. I'll think about it till I can't take it anymore and I'll give in and eat. My eating habbits absolutely horrify me.
Avatar f tn , depressed) mood states, interpersonal stressors, intense hunger following strict restriction of caloric intake, or it may be related to body weight, body shape, and food. Binge eating may temporarily reduce depressed feelings, but disparaging self-criticism and depressed mood often follow. Often times, episodes of binge eating are accompanied by a sense of lack of control, especially early in the course of the disorder.
Avatar f tn I have oesteosporosis and I binge eat. Binge eating has never been a problem in the past because I have always been very thin and never gained weight, until now. For years my weight has been between 102 & 106. I'm 5'3". Over the past few years I have gained 15 lbs. and it keeps adding on. I can't believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me.
Avatar f tn Instead, I tell myself that overeating will increase my metabolism and may help with weight loss later. Or I tell myself that all dieters fail on occasion. A binge-session may stave off a dieter's burn out. My goal is to reroute that path in my brain, so I stop punishing myself for overeating. Don't get me wrong. I also take responsibility for these failures. That's why I have to log them in my food diary.
Avatar f tn It just has made me feel so depressed. Every time I try to lose weight I fail. I have issue with binge eating and don't know how to control it. My doctor gave me phentermine but it made me very ill so I stopped taking it. I have seen many doctors and just about all of them tell me to lose weight and try a different medication to reduce symptoms. It doesn't help that I have been taking prednisone but the more I gain the more out of control my asthma gets.
Avatar f tn frame), I was diagnosed with an eating disorder (anorexia with binge eating). Instead of slowly reaquainting myself with food at small portions during the day and allowing myself to accept my appearance in the mirror, I got frusterated and ( I hate to say this) overdosed on some pills. I'm doing okay now, as I was hospitalized in the ER for 5 days, and had to consult a therapist to get me back on track. However, my doctor had to change my medication to Celexa/ Geodon.
Avatar f tn t have hypothyroidism or insulin resistance, both of which are known to make it difficult to impossible to lose weight... I have them both, so weight loss is always a struggle for me. For thyroid function, you should ask for Free T3, Free T4 and TSH and for insulin resistance, ask for fasting blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c. Because of your age, I'd also suggest that you also get checked for PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), which also makes losing weight very difficult.
Avatar n tn Now a senior, I am back to watching my calories and get sucked into thinking about food and my weight constantly. I want to lose 30 pounds and people think this is ridiculous because I am a healthy 5'8" and 155 pounds. Needless to say, I failed and strayed off my healthy eating and felt so guilty, thus I threw it up. I continued to do this 4 to 5 times a week for almost two months. And now I just stopped.
Avatar n tn You have to eat fewer calories than you burn if you want to lose weight! Protein-rich foods keep the hunger away. And the fuller you feel between meals, the easier it is to avoid binge eating. A daily whey protein shake with either berries or a banana and ice and water will help keep the hunger away. I recommend buying whey CONCENTRATE not isolate!! concentrate is healthier. when dieting you can't just lose weight at your belly or back. google exercises for the core.
Avatar f tn But I'm not over weight! I'm 'Supposedly' Underweight but I really don't believe that at all!
877379 tn?1259664623 I feel like since my main problem is now binging, that I cant have an eating disorder because binge eating disorder is not ok for me to have. I feel like I would be a failure if I was diagnosed as that. I dont think she will stop eating junk food and food always seems to be around when we hang out. any ideas for any activity we could do that is "food free"? isnt there sugar in almost everything? I would love to be able to just eat a little and then stop.
Avatar f tn OK--so I have decided that I want to lose weight. Not a lot just 12 lbs. I know it doesn't sound like much but I have been struggling with about 20lbs since I had my 3rd child. I just can't seem to get back on track. The problem is that I have very little self control! Saddddd but true. Anyway I am a nurse, so I am on my feet all day. I am in the military, so I do exercise regularly. I know what I should be eating--I just can't seem to make it happen.
639965 tn?1228344380 can someone who's overweight/obese be Anorexic? Since I was a teenager i have made myself throw up after meals. I can go a couple days without eating. My body doesn't tell me i'm hungry anymore so I tend to forget to even eat sometimes. I don't over eat i'm more of a porportion freak. when i do eat though I don't eat the healthiest. I'm not loosing any weight but I'm staying around the same weight.. I don't even know if i have an eating disorder. .
Avatar f tn If it's something you can't help yourself with, you definitely should see someone professional to talk to about it. And you're right, your baby needs all the nutrients it can get, make sure you're taking a prenatal as well as eating. Really, if you're eating right, exercising, the scale is only going up because of baby weight.
