Again, sometimes you will still fall prey to the eating voice and go off track, but in my expereince, you have less of that and more successful days. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if the ephedrine has directly caused the depression and binge eating/bulimia as I never had these problems prior to taking it, and if this is the case, will and SSRI even be the best option to help me get back to normal? I am also scheduled for cognitive behavioral therapy.
Avatar f tn When I drink even a moderate amount I do not binge and purge. Also, I always get the urge to binge and purge during the evening. I am thinking of going to a professional but I really want to do this by myself, I was wondering if this could be due to a chemical imbalance?? I have always had problems with depression as a child and was anorexic for sometime as an adolescent until I discovered bulimia.

Avatar n tn Is anyone out there a binge eater that would like to get into contact to help recovery? I've had eating disorders for the past 10 years...anorexia, bulimia, recovered on my own for a bit, but now after starting a career and having more stress in my life, I'm not normal anymore. I binge. I went on topamax for a bit and this helped but didn't like the weird side effects and I know I can't rely on drugs my whole life. I'm 26 and just want to be normal with food.

I do not like to take medicines...therefore I stopped taking Meridia, but sometimes I take one for a few days when I believe I'm eating too much....but as soon as i stop taking it, I go back to the same old habits. Do you know of something similar that I can take w/o the same side effects...

Avatar f tn I have been binge eating for the past several months. It is getting out of hand, I am embarassed to talk to my doctor about it or anyone else for that matter. What is causing this disorder, I am not sure of. It could be a number of things, so to pinpoint the core would be very hard. When no one is around, I overeat. Whether it be chips, pretzels, popcorn, or chocolate. I will eat it. There are weeks where I will be craving a particular food and I will go out and buy it everyday.

1341830 tn?1276119609 I've been a binge eater since about second or third grade. Right now I'm gonna turn 30 November and I have two kids under the age of 4. I am 5'3 and weigh about 245 pounds. I can exercise but it's my binge eating that has me worried. I really feel like I cannot control it. If I do try to control myself and not eat...I can't stop thinking about it. I'll think about it till I can't take it anymore and I'll give in and eat. My eating habbits absolutely horrify me.

Avatar f tn The best thing to do is not have junk food in the house, if you can't stop with eating a single portion. Replace the chips, cookies, etc with fresh cut up veggies, such as carrots, celery, radishes, broccoli, or cauliflower. You'll get the same crunch, but you'll get nutrition instead of the fat and empty calories. If you need the salt, sprinkle on just a tad of sea salt to add a bit of flavor.
Avatar f tn It is not uncommon to be depressed, not eat for periods of time and then go for binge eating. However, the feeling of wanting death points towards a higher level of depression. You need to consult a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders. Also depression would need to be treated side by side. Please consult your parents, maybe your school or college therapist and some else whom you can trust and who can talk to your parents. Please try and see a therapist as soon as possible.
847452 tn?1239851915 I think that there is definitely a possibility of u having depression and/or an eating disorder. Eating disorders are often linked to psychological disorders, and having a verbally/mentally abusive mom could definitely cause it. By attempted, do you mean you stopped yourself from purging, or you tied to purge and couldn't get the food up? Has anyone noticed these cuts, and have you talked to anyone about these things?
Avatar f tn Of course prozac at high doses (60-80mg) has proven to be effective for bulimia and binge eating. However, in 1/3 of the cases it causes weight gain. Using a low dose of abilify (2-5mg) to augment your antidepressant could support decreasing obsessive thoughts and suicidal ideation. You could consider this first before changing your anti-depressant. You also might want to research topomax as a medication to help curb the desire to binge. I hope your find this input helpful.
