Avatar m tn His left knee can only bend about 20 degrees before sharp pain sets in, while his right knee can bend about 60 or 70 degrees before feeling pain. He's been seeing a physio but the severe pain and limited range of motion in his left knee bothers me. His knee feels stiff and sore and he struggles to move the left leg. I'd like to hear from an orthopedic expert, are there any obvious "mistakes" that can be made during this kind of surgery?

159619 tn?1707018272 I have had many knee injuries over the past few years with considerable chronic pain. MRIs of both knees show tears in the meniscus, bucket tears specifically, as well as grade II MCL tears. In addition to the soft tissue damage, both knees show degenerative OA. I have just relocated and started seeing a new Orthopedic surgeon and he is recommending doing arthroscopic surgeries on both knees which is scheduled for February 3rd.
Avatar n tn Others will post But I honestly do not know much at all about foot pain and problems. Does the medication help you with the pain? What does the doctor say as far as options you have?
Avatar f tn During the day, I can handle the pain except for some very hard, fast stabbing pains that make me stop in my tracks for a few minutes. But at night, the pain, which is like a very bad toothache from just above my knees to my ankles, keeps waking me up. my hubby wants me to take a Percocet before bed so that I can sleep through the night. I'm wondering if I increase my activities at my gym, will this help or hurt the healing process?

Avatar f tn I had bilateral knee replacement done in 2008. I went through the operation with no pain. Now, it's a different story. I have jolts of muscle and tendon pain. By that, I mean, if I take a step I get a jolt, which sometimes throws me forward. Sometimes, when I am walking I get a spasm of pain, then it will go away. I do not have constant pain. My walking is not very straight. Anyone with this kind of problem?
Avatar n tn I could not walk properly for almost 3 months. I persisted to have Bilateral Knee pain, however my Orthopaedic felt it was nothing really much and did not see the need to probe further which I thought was utter nonsense. I've also had a blood test taken to determine if Osteoarthritis was the cause. However, the test turned out negative for Osteoarthritis. I had an X ray done as well which did not reveal anything significant.
Avatar m tn Had bilateral total knee surgery 3 months ago. I have persistent burning & numbness in both knees. Escalates at night. Nothing I have tried to alienate the pain has helped.it is maddening.
Avatar m tn My worry is whether it is really epididymitis or something else relating to nerve. I have pain in my left foot, left knee, left genitals, left hand. The pain in left hand and left genitals are severe at times. Infact I can see the pain in my left hand progressed. Now I'm having numbness as well in my left hand. The pain all the way radiates to my left cheek sometimes.
Avatar f tn The only way to describe this pain is, it feels like a tooth ache pain in my left hip, and the pain also, shoots down my leg causing my knee to fold up under me. My doctor sent me for a MRI of my lumbar spin, and I have the report, however, I do not understand how the results figure into the problem I am having. Can someone explain these results? Please. Lumbar alignment is within normal limits without compression fracture, subluxation or vertebral body marrow lesion.
Avatar f tn I had my right knee TKR in June 2010, I cannot recall what the pain was pre-op, but I do know that it is very bad and has been since surgery. I have fairly good function with the knee and am able to do the work I love (I would be very depressed to lose that) but work is the whole of my life as it HURTS during the work day and it takes the rest of my day to 'recover' somewhat. I have pain in the night quite often and pain upon waking.
Avatar n tn Facet joint pain doesn’t generally go below the knee, if yours is going below the knee, it could be related to your so-call not definite nerve compression at this same level. All these things are related in a way, but one problem might be causing one pain and another could be causing another pain. It’s complicated. And urinary changes can happen with problems with the spine and nerves, I’ve experienced it too. What stage are you in your treatment, have you been to Physical Therapy yet?
Avatar f tn When I was 36, I was told that I had DDD, Lumbar stenosis, & disc space narrowing, protrusion on S1 nerve root. I had my back fused in 2000 when I was 38 on the L5-S1. It relieved a lot of pain & only had issues a few times a year. In 2008, I started having more pain, longer durations & issues that I had never had in past before fusion. Family doc put me on prednisone off & on & it did help at least 70%.
Avatar m tn t know the cause of my knee pain my main complaints are obvious knee pain rt hip pain and mid back pain and clicking pain in my upper back I get numbness in my legs from sitting for no more than 5 mins and sometimes it is hard to move
Avatar f tn t smoke, rarely drink. During the night and when I first wake up, I am experiencing excruciating bilateral knee pain. I noticed the pain about 4 months ago and it is worsening. I know it sounds crazy but I have to pull myself up, using the wall and toilet with my arms, to get up from the toilet when I get up to urinate in the night. As the day progresses, the pain is still there but not as intense as during the night. My knees are also swollen at all times, L>R. I walk for exercise.
Avatar f tn I had bilateral PF Makoplasty six months ago on December 9, 2014, at age 57. Recovery in the first few weeks was exceptionally fast, and I am mostly thrilled with the results -- I have great flexion, can sit back on my heels, and can descend stairs, jump up and down, and do lunges and squats to 90 degrees without sharp pain, though I generally have an 'awareness' and some soreness in my knees with these movements.
Avatar f tn I can’t believe he didn’t see it for what it was... I was in pain, chair bound and miserable. I found a dr who beil3ved in me. I believe you. This dr told me that 50 of the aspirations do not show infections. He and my pcp could see it was infected. Your leg is infected. Antibioditics will not help as a tried oral ones.. I had a temp knew put in and it was a sphaf infection. I had to get a pic line before I got the perm one in.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm and 18 year old girl and have undiagnosed knee, hip and back problems. When I'm doing stances in karate sometimes one or both knees will just not bend past some random point. I can't bend them and my instructor can't. He got down and pulled pretty hard on my lower leg and my knee didn't move at all. It doesn't hurt when it happens it is just frustrating. Any ideas on what might be going on would be great and very much appreciated.
Avatar m tn The PFS could explain your knee pain, but that would be all. You could have bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome (which could explain the wrists). Sorry, but I would have to see all the x-rays and do an examination to do you justice. I hope you are seeing a Orthopod and having a Radiologist reading these films. I would like to hear the end result when/if you get one. Best wishes, jd1963!
Avatar f tn Hi-A little over one yr ago I had my right knee replaced. I hadn't been able to bend my knee for about 4 yrs before the surgery - I have osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and degenerative bone disease - so the dr and I decided on a knee replacement. I can bend my knee now, and I've had the knee xrayed since the surgery and it looks ok. I ride a stationary bike every day for excercise. What I don't understand is why I am having SO much pain in my knee?? It's really very depressing!
