Biaxin yeast infection

Common Questions and Answers about Biaxin yeast infection

biaxin

Recently I came down with an upper respiratory infection and the doctor prescribed me a penicillin to clear it up. I told the doctor that I had a yeast infection the last time I took an antibiotic. I purchased a probiotic but didnt take it till after the 3rd day of medication and the damage was done already. I got a yeast infection and I have had one before due to antibiotics so I knew what it was.
Sometimes I get shooting pains in my breasts. It has not spread from these areas. I thought it could be a yeast infection, so I started applying Lotrimin cream. I've used it for 7 days and the rash isn't any better. Does this sound like it could be a yeast infection? Does the cream need longer to work? Of course I started reading on the internet and have scared myself silly because of the horror stories of the yeast that spreads throughout your entire body and kills you.

Or it could be yeast infection. I wouldn't recommend self treating for yeast using a cream. Try yogurt first, keeping the area clean and dry. When possible, at home, go sans panties and let the vagina get some air. If you shave, red bumps may also be ingrown hairs.
Please bear in mind that if you get a yeast infection and stop taking your antibiotic because of the yeast infection - you may still have some bad bacteria that are resistant to the drug and this could be bad in the long run....more medications, different antibiotics, you getting sick again, etc... - it's not fun, seriously. Now coming from a future pharmacist, yes, i'm still in pharmacy school...do I ever finish my entire antibiotic regimine - no...do most people...no.
I am on antibiotics (Biaxin) and 2 days ago I started getting a white discharge with itching, burning and a fishy smell. Could this be a yeast infection caused by the antibiotic?
I've not been 100% well in the last 4 months and seem to just get infection after infection going up and down all the time. As soon as I start to feel a bit better I go down with another one. The cough has never subsided. I have been tested for glandular fever amongst other things, having had two blood tests which all appeared normal apart from a slight elevation in white cells. I have had a chest x-ray which came back clear.
antibiotic such as Clarithromycin (Biaxin) are is what is typically used to treat a resisitant infection due to pseudomonas. I suspect the Augmentin is not resulting in total resolution of the symptoms you describe. While I understand that you may not want to be on antiboitics due to the yeast infections which result, until the infection is fully treated, you are likely to continue to experience symptoms. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Dean M. Tomasello, M.D.
Then a few weeks later I developed a sinus infection and took 1000 mg a day for Biaxin XL for 7 days. Could I have an STD through all that? The web suggested a male yeast infection from all the anitbiotics..........
The only caution I will give is that if you have or develop a yeast infection (vaginal, oral, or otherwise), you need to report that to your dr right away, because taking Florastor (which is yeast) on top of a yeast infection (which is of course also yeast) can let the yeast infection get quite serious. It seldom happens, and if you watch out for it and get it taken care of promptly, it should be okay.
For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different.... There is no itchiness or discharge, but I have some redness and some concentrated red sores. There is also some pinching feeling on the skin. Does this sound like a herpes outbreak? Should I start taking my acyclovir?
Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?
One thing that caught my attention in your post about having a recurring/constant yeast infection. Docs often don't pay a lot of attention to that, thinking it's not a big deal, and I was one of those for whom it was indeed a Big Deal. Some people are just genetically more likely to get serious fungal infections, and I am one of those, it seems. My body doesn't easily fight it off, and I look back and think that was true also of at least one of my parents.
) Most Drs are okay with you skipping the office visit and just going to the lab for the UA, and then telling you the symptoms and how to treat a yeast infection if that is what is going on...Also, if you do have yeast, either take probiotic tabs to replenish your good bacteria, or eat yogurt (or anything with acidophilus) with active cultures. Good luck!
I don't think it sounds like hairy tongue. I think it is candida albicans. Its basically a yeast infection of the mouth. If it persists after the antibiotics your doc will probably prescribe a rinse like nystatin, which is a swish and swallow medicine.
) I put myself on a yeast-free, sugar-free and grains-free diet 3 months ago -- I got a yeast infection that was giving me serious bloating and brain fog. It just seemed like Lyme, but it was yeast. It was a little hard the first couple of days, but I've adjusted to it very well. Did your dr say why s/he put you on that diet?
she is highly susceptible to yeast infections also has reflux and hiatle hernia? How do you get this infection? Are there better medications than the one the doctor prescribed?
I am not sure if Trich could be another possibility, I have done the at home morning water glass test for a yeast infection and going off what I have heard I may have a yeast infection. I have no idea what else to do or think at this point, I just want my life back to normal. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Well, then I start some itching and burning which suggested to me a yeast infection. I took a Diflucan and inserted some miconazole that night. When I woke up, I founds some small bumps on the inside of my vagina kinda on the labia. I applied some more cream to the area and as the day went on, it felt as if my vagina was on fire. It was red and inflammed and a small red lump appeared. I went to my gyne the next day and he said everything looked normal and that I had a yeast infection.
Ok I need some opinions.. I was ery ill 3 weeks ago with pneumonia, strep, & an ear infection. My doc put me on Biaxin & then Augmentin... A few days later I got what I thought was a yeast infection, cottage cheese like discharge, itching burning etc.I hae had many yeast infections oer the years and thought this was no big deal. I bought the monistat 1 day thing and figured that was it. The morning after using it I had 3 cuts resembling paper cuts.
Hi I had a problem once with Biaxin, within an hour of taking it I would get a severe sharp pain in the region of my liver. I tried taking half and an hour later the severe pain again. I had my antibiotic changed. Most say the liver does not experience pain, however it can swell and cause pain on the capsule that surrounds it.
I saw my dermatologist who said there was a slight odor and believed it was a yeast infection. He gave me anti fungal cream. I have recently relocated and unable to see him again until Jan 2011. 18 months later, the anal region is still discolored, with the opening of the anus is red at times. I use hydrocortisone & Vitamin A&D ointments which seems to sooth the redness and dull the irritation.
In January 2004, I experienced terrible stomach pain radiating to the back when I took an antibiotic (Biaxin). I had been on a long course of antibiotics for chronic sinus infections and had taken Tequin, Augmentin and Biaxin sequentially for about 4 months. Since this episode, I have been unable to take any antibiotics orally or any other drugs except the very mildest (Sudafed, chewable acetamenaphin, Clarinex). Many foods provoke a similar response.
I had explained in an earlier forum under respiratory, that in 04 I had a lung biopsy that reported ceseating budding yeast consistant with Histoplasmosis. I was told my body fought it off and yet I have been continuosly sick with one thing after another with no explanation. In Dec 06 I had what I call a chest wall infection that repeated it self until this very day. I have lymph swelling and had been on a host of antibiotics from Zpacks. Biaxin, to 3 rounds of Avelox.
I did notice that a few months ago, I was taking a antibiotic (Biaxin) for a resperatory infection, and the rash healed completely within 4 or 5 days. I thought it was gone until it reapeared a week or so later. The rash has never gone out of this area, it always stays in this 1.5 inch square area. I seem to have noticed its arrival when I started to have some severe intestinal problems, causing diarrea for days at a time.
I May 2002 amd endoscopy revealed I had a cindida (yeast) infection in my esophagus. This was treated with 4 weeks of the anti-fungal Diflucan. This added to my digestive distress. My doctor then referred me to the web site for The Institute for Molecular Medicine (immed.org) which is in the forefront of treating mycoplasma infections.
My LLMD said he had never seen anyone with such high levels of fungal/yeast infection on a blood test, so he was (in his calm way) kinda flipped out too, I think. I think I've mentioned before that at the same time, I stripped all carbs out of my diet and stuck to greens and proteins. No fruit, no starchy veg, no grains except quinoa, which is actually a seed. I lost a lot of my hair while on Diflucan (mainly on top) so my scalp was visible somewhat ...
Two days after the test I ended up with a massive yeast infection. Took diflucan for 7 days and got better. Then on day 10 LLMD changed med to Biaxin. Three days after starting Biaxin uninary issues started again!!! I started diflucan immediately and stopped biaxin but now,on day 5, still no relief of urinary issues, though no itching yet. I am going going crazy here!! Have any of you had such experiences?
Minocin 100 MG twice daily Biaxin 500 MG every 12 hours Flagyl 500 MG three times daily Samento (30 drops daily) Banderol (30 drops daily) NAC 1200 MG twice daily VSL #3 one half 900 billion uniys twice daily Nattokinase 100 MG once daily Zinc 30 MG once daily Saccharomyces boulardii once daily Garlic soft gel 1000 MG once daily I also take Coconut oil daily as well as homemade Kefir daily. My Questions: 1. How do I know that treatment is actually working? 2.
Entirely separately, at another time, while taking other antibiotics, I also got a very bad yeast infection, but it was intestinal and not vaginal. I got abdominal bloating, stabbing pains at the waist, fog brain, and gained a bunch of weight. It took almost 6 months for the MDs to figure out it was a systemic yeast infection -- I guess they don't see many of them. So that's probably not your issue, but thought I'd mention it since your symptoms sound similar to mine.
