I have had a frequent urge to urinate and bladder pressure for a few weeks. The pressure became very painful as if I constantly have a very full bladder even right after I empty my bladder. I tested "trace positive" for a urinary tract infection after having taken amoxicilin 500 for 2 days. I do not and have not had any burning sensation when I urinate. Is there other things that create a positive urinary test beside bladder infections.?

Just today, however, I started feeling some urgency to urinate and some discomfort (like a urinary tract infection). I do not have any pain or burning when I actually urinate. Is there any chance that I contacted some type of STD from this encounter at the strip club? Also, is my wife at risk for anything (she has not exhibited any symptoms so far)?

( At least the Endo is :::::::::listening::::::::::: I go on Cipro or Levaquin for my urinary tract infections after passing stones .. not fun stuff at all.

This problem started suddenly on the day after I started Doxycycline and Biaxin in January 2012. Since then it has got progressively worse. I have to go to the toilet every 20 min even though I don't take any liquid. My skin feels like its drying up and I'm losing a lot of muscle and weight. Has anyone experience this with antibiotics? Do you think it is related to the abx or the Lyme or something else? My last urine test was normal, but with slightly raised sodium.

I don't have any urinary symptoms (no burning, no pain, no odor, no blood, no color change). But I was definitely curious about the timing. I took a home AZO test which came up as possible trace infection. I will need a more professional test to be sure. I will probably go to the doctor tomorrow for an official dipstick test, but I am worried that they will error on the side of caution and prescribe Septra or Bactrim.

I wondered if we might get a systemic, unrecognized blood infection by a bacteria, mine coming from the urinary infection but it could develop from other infections we get? Atarax really helped me during the bad times.

dr. HHH says that the last two things u discused do not have any symptoms at all and are always found in human urniary tract...trich usually causes painful urination and discharge...i have neither...so im thinking thats not it...

Bring it up to to your doctor. You definitely some kind of urinary tract infection though. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic. It fights bacteria in your body. Three days after starting Biaxin uninary issues started again!!! I started diflucan immediately and stopped biaxin but now,on day 5, still no relief of urinary issues, though no itching yet. I am going going crazy here!! Have any of you had such experiences? I called my LLMD and he says "its just the Lyme" though it seems strange that the urinary urgency came just 2 days before a TERRIBLE yeast infection. It resolved when treated with Diflucan, gone for a week and then back.

It went away however my right testicle swelled and I felt pains in what would seem to be my bladder. I went to the Doctor and he gave my Biaxin for 10 days (2 pills). I felt better though not completely free, though the medicine was gone. It came right back, with a swollen right testicle. I was then given 500 mg of Cephelix (Keflex) - 100 pills (4 times a day).

There was pain with urination and even when not voiding all through my penis and to this day this is the pain I still experience. I went to my family doctor who prescribed Biaxin I believe for Chlymidia. I was on this for two weeks and the pain subsided for a couple of weeks. I then began to feel the same pain minus the urge to constantly urinate. I was put back on the Biaxin for two more weeks, this time however the pain continued through the medication. This did nothing as well.

When I was a teenager (20 years ago) I became very sick and went in and out of doctors offices for more than 7 months. Finally my family doctor sent me to a lung specialist and he told me I had a mycoplasma infection. I was on antibiotics for 2-3 weeks and I felt much better. Needless to say that has not been the end of it and I've never been the same since.

By far the most common symptoms of NGU is abnormal discharge from the penis; although urinary discomfort or pain can accompany it, most men with only that symptom usually are not found to have urethritis. "Some WBCs" in urine doesn't mean much by itself; a few WBCs can be found in most urine specimens, and the negative LE test indicates the numbers were small and probably not significant. I have mild high blood pressure which is normal at present, and my daily pill intake includes Vasotec, HCTZ, Biaxin (which I had for bronchitis and thought it might help my lungs), Muco-Fen (same thing), one Theragran-M, and Ranitidine 150 mgs. The Biaxin and Muco-Fen were prescribed when we thought I had bronchitis. I don't know what else you need to know....I'm female, 56, very overweight (I know, I know...lose weight!!), caucasian, and in very good health (to the best of my knowledge).

Scary times Jenny, I am also going to one of the top 3 Lyme Doctors in the country on Thursday of next week so i will start getting answers then hopefully. I have been on Biaxin for about 3 weeks now (1000Mg a day) and it has not touched what i got so far. Who knows maybe i need iV. If your doctor gives you a regular prescription for Bactrim DS or generic just take one before sex with a full glass of water. This helps the drug get to the urinary system faster and kill any bacteria that may enter from sex. Then go to the bathroom after sex and pee HARD - this will help expell bacteria that haven't worked their way up into the bladder and settled there. In fact if you just pee hard after sex it might prevent infection and you might not need the antibiotic.

Since then I have seen another Urologist and he did an internal bladder examination and UA and there was a slight amount of bacterria. I was put on Biaxin, Tetracycline, Macrobid, etc.. I have also tried Uristat, Pyrediene, etc for pain and they have worked in the past for my bladder infections, but they just don't help with this. The infection cleared but the persistent pain before and after I urinate still exists. I went to a gynocologist.

Tried to fight it, but ended up on Cipro (Ciproflaxicin) for 8 days, then Biaxin (Clarithromycin) for 5 days. I switched from Cipro to Biaxin as I was experiencing a severe shaking feeling inside...especially at night. I guess Biaxin was not better and simply prolonged my exposure. My thinking is my underlying anxiety was brought back through the use of Cirpo and Biaxin. Somehow they threw out my brain chemical balance again. A real pain in the ***......

PIA symptoms include urinary hesitancy, frequent failure to empty my bladder completely, double vision for the first 2-3 minutes of every day, neuropathic foot pain, walking outside for more than 45 minutes in the heat causes me to lose control of my left leg. These symptoms are with me every day. They don't limit me in terms of work and most play. They are more just a PITA :-) I treat these symptoms with meds not directly related to MS.

Ok I need some opinions.. I was ery ill 3 weeks ago with pneumonia,strep, & an ear infection. My doc put me on Biaxin & then Augmentin... A few days later I got what I thought was a yeast infection, cottage cheese like discharge,itching burning etc.I hae had many yeast infections oer the years and thought this was no big deal. I bought the monistat 1 day thing and figured that was it. The morning after using it I had 3 cuts resembling paper cuts.
