Hello,
I am male 34 y/o who had several encounters with 29 y/o female, all unprotected. Her status unknown. The last encounter was 8 months ago. My two questions, for arguments sake lets say I was exposed to gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU, and perhaps other common bacterial STD's. I've had no symptoms other then what I suspect are mental from me thinking about it (urge to urinate, itching, things like that) and visiting sites like this one.

I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.
The antibiotics you have been on (levofloxacin, biaxin, and now doxycycline) are active against most of these bacteria although there are a few strains of gonorrhea that could be resistant. I doubt that gonorrhea is the source of your problem however, in light of your negative tests and absence of penile symptoms. You have received treatment with good antibiotics.
sex worker, and I am now all concerned and paranoid that I may have received an STD like Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. Since I had the Biaxin course after all of this transpired, is there a chance that any oral STD acquired would have been wiped out by the round of Biaxin? What are my chances all of these symptoms are an orally acquired STD? What should be my next step? Thank you very much!

Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection.
All test were negative.

I have made 2 mistakes: the first was receiving unprotected oral sex from a CSW (a female, I am male) while intoxicated, the second was trying to self-treat with antibiotics. I took 1.5 g. of Zithromax and began 7 days of Doxy (this was prescribed, for a sinus infection), 2x100mg/day about eight hours after the event.
Next day, in a panic, convinced that 1.5 of zithromax would not be enough, I took 2 g of Biaxin at once. I plan to take 500 mg/day for the next 3 days.
I also was put on an atibiotic in Feb 2009 in Canda where I live it is called Biaxin (2X500mg) a day for 10 days. Now to my questions....
1) I have read from Dr HHH about these infections going away on there own within 3 months. I have also read Dr HOOK say he has seen it last for 3 years?...what is the chance either of these could last 1 year?
2) Although I did a urine test for both infections I have one concern.
On 05/05/08, I took Z-pak, 500Mg of Azithromacin first day, and 250MG for following 4 days for an unrelated sore throte. On 05/20/2008, I started taking Biaxin and Flagyl for 14 days to treat stomach issue. On 05/30/2008, I retested for only Genital herpes and it came back negative. Here are my questions..
1. How accurate was the test done @ about a week and a half after exposure
2. If i did acquire one of the STI's, would the amount of antibiotic I took treat all of them?

I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
The risk is lower for other STDs, like gonorrhea, herpes, or trichomonas, but not zero. Probably there is no realistic risk of either HIV or syphilis in this setting, although these STDs could be higher risk in some settings -- e.g. if either of you is African American, or Latino/a in border areas of the southwest. If you're both over 25, and especially if over 30, the STD risks are really very low.
What to do now?
My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am.
It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down.
I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue.
Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

5 weeks after exposure and she said throat looked OK but left inner ear looked grey. Gave me 7 days of Biaxin. This seemed to help, but since week 5 symptoms have returned. I am very concerned I may of contracted an STD\HIV. I have read the low risk factor for HIV and other STD's. But as most probably do, I feel my exposure is unique. What do you think my risk exposure really was?
ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
On two of those days I took 2 pills, i.e. 1g, taken at once. Two days after starting the Biaxin I was prescribed doxycycline, 2g total taken over the course of 7 days.
On day 8 after swimming I noticed what looked like a skin fold on the end of my penis next to the urethral opening (about 1/8 inch). Unsure whether this was something normal for my penis or not, I have been observing it since. It is not an open sore or a blister, it is not red, and it is painless.
I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked.
5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs.
Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.
I had surgery in Feb 2008 and a routine uralalysis was done pre op (I was never told anything was wrong)
In Febuary 2008 I had an respitory infection and received a antibiotic that has been mentioned on this site called Biaxin XL 2X 500mg pills once a day for 10 days.
May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
I have been taking Biaxin for 5 days and have experienced the worst side effects i have ever had in my life! Nausea, headache, depression, crying outbursts, metallic taste, and wanting to sleep all day are the main ones. I have never felt depressed like this in my life. A feeling of sadness has taken over my body the past 5 days and it is miserable. Can somebody tell me why?? I stopped taking it today because I have had enough, I want my life back.
