Betaseron interferon beta 1b

Common Questions and Answers about Betaseron interferon beta 1b

betaseron

Avatar f tn Also, the type of interferon used is different than that in Betaseron. Betaseron is interferon beta-1b NOT interferon beta 2-b. These little points are important. Also, in discussing male sperm counts and motility one must consider many, many factors - not just the most notable med the person is on. A man's sperm count and activity may be affected by things we don't even think about like temperature, alcohol, depression, meds like anti-depressants or antihypertensives.
198419 tn?1360242356 I am no expert, but since three of the CRAB drugs are interferon beta (either 1a or 1b), they should all have the similar benefits/risks.
1149087 tn?1415316549 s the interferon part of the med which causes depression, so yes, I would expect that Betaseron (interferon-beta-1b) would be more likely than Rebif to cause the problem as it is the highest dose of all. You are very welcome - in all ways.
338416 tn?1420045702 s too early to tell how the disease progresses, or how well the beta interferon works on the gamma-interferon-secreting T cell MS. Only 26 blood samples tested so far, remember! I am curious to see what they come up with, though.
572735 tn?1217201019 ( AVONEX, REBIF,COPAXONE BETA, TYSABRI?) I AM ,I HAVE TRIED ALL, GETTING READY TO TRY BETA, MY DOC WONT PUT ME ON TYSABRI, AFTER THIS WHATS NEXT? I DONT WANT TO GIVE UP. I'M SO DEPRESSED I'M AFARID IM GONNA BE ALLERGIC TO BETA THAN WHAT? PENNY K.
338416 tn?1420045702 t worth it, and switched over to Betaseron. However, Beta is a different kind of drug - interferon rather than polypeptide. If there's any reaction, it should be flu-like - elevated body temp, chills, sweats, aches in the joints.
Avatar n tn It is produced by recombinant DNA technology using genetically engineered Chinese Hamster Ovary cells into which the human interferon beta gene has been introduced. The amino acid sequence of AVONEX® is identical to that of natural human interferon beta.
2112931 tn?1335098402 Extavia is interferon beta-1b and is actually clinically identical to its much older twin, Betaseron. A series of buy outs, mergers and board room agreements apparently made it possible for TWO pharmaceutical companies to gain approval to offer branded interferon beta-1b. At the grassroots level (that would be us - the users) there doesn't seem to be a clear cost advantage to either drug. So much for competition driving down cost. Perhaps motives and intentions led elsewhere?
1755625 tn?1421447637 I got mixed advice when I was taking interferon. The pharmacist and the injection nurse at the clinic I attend both told me to wear a face mask around people, because they were sure I was taking something that would lower my immune system. But when the Rebif nurse visited me at home, she explained that the type of interferon we take (interferon beta 1a or 1b) affect T cells, and don't have a seriously averse affect on our immune systems.
462771 tn?1358355843 Now Rebif is exactly the same interferon as AVonex, Interferon-beta-1a. It is used at a higher dose and more often. Betaseron is Interferon-beta-1b. I have not read that there would be a difference in action if you moved to the "1b" as opposed to staying with the "1a" form. But, you might ask your doc. Now, the reality is that the DMDs do not work for everyone.
2015036 tn?1332997788 The top article today is saying that Interferon beta isn't doing what we all hoped it would. Anyone else read it yet? It's kind of discouraging... Any thoughts?
3162052 tn?1345047012 I am going to be starting Betaseron soon. I have read up on it quite a bit, but am curious to know if any of you are currently taking this, have been on it, etc... and if so, what was it like for you? My biggest concern about this one is that everything I read warns of extreme depression. That is already a daily struggle for me, pretty bad. Sure hope I don't get worse with this medication. I hate getting in those ruts of depression. For me, it can last for months on end...
Avatar f tn Okay, he lives in the UK and has MS. He takes beta-interferon and would love to start a family with his wife but is concerned about hisself. I haven't found any information on males that take it other than men who are concerned if they would be fertile or if the beta would harm the child. Do any of you have any info about males,MS, the meds, and their ability/inability to have children/healthy children? Thanks and BIG Hugs to all of you! MostlyShell P.S.
Avatar m tn The HCVerso clinical trial program includes two pivotal Phase 3 IFN-free studies that will enroll approximately 1,000 treatment-naive HCV genotype-1b (GT-1b) patients, including those who are interferon eligible or ineligible.
