Beta testing my test results were positive I have some type of infection that can possibly kill my baby the doctor told me that I would have to be on a penicillin IV during labor has anyone else gone through this

I also asked for a full std check, but she only did blood work. I found out I had a beta-strep infection, took antibiotics, and felt better immediately. A week ago I went to the dr w/ the same complaints and found out that I had a beta-strep infection and chlamydia. I have been with the same man for two years. Today I went back to the dr because said she wanted to do a second culture in case of a false-positive result.

I had it during my pregnancy and for what I believe if you have strep b they will always treat you for it during every pregnancy that you have there after. I'm not sure that is what would of caused you to miscarry though. Strep b is a bacterial infection that can cause problems if left untreated when you deliver. I haven't heard it to cause any complications during the actual pregnancy but I could be wrong.

I have been back for the results today and everything came back clear exept the doctor told me i have an Streptococcal infection (Beta Strep he called it). I have been given 14 x 500mg Clarithromycin tablets. Im looking into it but all i can find is it effects women, i have had problems in the past with water infections but this is a new one to me.

Hey you all I feel so worried I had labs done last week and I checked my results online and it says something like 3,000 beta strep group b in my urine culture my doctor never called me concerned or let me know anything and I don't see her for about 3 more weeks. What is this should I be worried how did I get this and is it curable?

that is Streptococcus pyogenes you would have a fever. There are several types of beta hemolytic strep that are not group A, they all cause a sore throat and give you pus in the throat. Some are more virulent than others. There is Group B or S. agalactiae, Strep group C, G and Strep group F or Strep. anginosis group (they grow as large colony beta hemolytic strep on a petri dish).

Gbs which is group beta strep is an infection we as females can carry they test you in pregnancy because it can be harmful to baby if you deliver the baby naturally and with out the antibiotics. So they test you so that they can give you the doses of antibiotics during labor I have had it with my pregnancies and I delivered all my children naturally and they all had no contract with the infection and was born perfectly healthy.

First time vaginal swab (and cervix) was investigated, strep beta hemolytic group b was found. 10days Xiclav therapy was prescribed. After that, strep was gone, but e colli was there, so Bactrim was prescribed for 5 days. 3rd time only enterococcus faecalis was reported and nothing was prescribed until after 20days the doctor repeated examination. 4th swab indicated presence of strep b (second time) and enterococcus faecalis, amoxiscilin is prescribed for 8-10 days.

Keep on getting Beta Strep B back even after taking penicilin. What form works to get rid of this nasty strep?

When it came back it came back as beta strep again!!! She put me on amox again but I am not filling it. I am going to make an appointment with a Urologist. What is the deal!!! I never had any urinary issues. I am freaking out that this infection will never go away!!! Anyone have a UTI caused by this! So annoying.

ve got some way you get beta hemolytic strep, and that beta hemolytic strep really hits you for some reason (a lot of adults, it doesn't bother very much). That would make more sense than suspecting hormone issues are the cause.

I found out I have s strep b infection..anyone else had this. Trying not to stress over it. And have a hospital appointment next week.

Strep throat is an infection, not an allergy. I have never heard of a cat giving a human a strep infection.

I have never been proscribed anything during pregnancy. It's when u give birth that when they give u the 2 bags of IV n u stay an extra day because the baby have to b monitored. I had it with my two girls not my first son.

I had strep b as well with my first pregnancy. You don't get induced you just have to get antibiotics.

Please tell me how women got rid of the Beta Strep B cronic infection. I have heard of garlic in virgina or switch it up your PH Balance, try to build immune system with better diet. Need to hear what really works.

My doctor said that I have a bladder infection type:strep which can cause problems and can affect your baby. Does anyone know more or has had a kid and had this?

I am also positive and it just means what dani said, it can cause an infection during birth so they give you antibiotics during labor. The chances of infection are so remote though so there are absolutely no worries!

Hello ...... Well, a few weeks ago, I had what I thought could have been strep throat. I should have gone into my doc right away, but I knew they'd give me an antibiotic no matter what, and I really didn't want to take one, despite the fact that they're "approved" during pregnancy. I didn't want to take one because I was pregnant in November, and my OB prescribed a round of antibiotics for a sinus infection, and I miscarried.
