Avatar n tn Although I have the same liver disease (End-Stage Liver Disease and liver cancer also know as hepatocellular carcinoma) as your mother, I am not a medical professional and have not gone through what your mother is going through now. Although I have liver cancer I am still in relatively good health thanks to some of the best doctors and medical services available anywhere in the world here in San Francisco. I am still hoping to get a liver transplant in about a year to save my life.

Avatar f tn Cod liver oil contains vitamin D! Are you then taking to much D? Cod liver is more likely to contain contaminants. Cod liver oil contains vitamin A and D they are fat soluble that being said they can cause toxicity in excessive amounts. Primrose oil contains omega 6 and if you google foods containing omega 6 then I will guess you are consuming way to much omega 6 to omega 3. You didn't state what your diet consists of. Your multi. might contain all the vitamins that you stated.
Avatar n tn I do know that any and all med's, vitamins, minerals..... anything ingested has to be processed in the liver. MY GI dr. said that pain med's , and other med's are harmful to the liver and your liver " takes a hit" when we take these things.over a long period of time. example: I took Tamoxifen for 5 years..... it harmed my liver. I also had chemo for br. cancer---- the chemo drugs harmed my liver even more. MY GI dr. told me to take only what he prescribes......

Avatar f tn I had a nurse tell me when I got my hep a/b vacine to not even take anything if it was not prescribed. She said anything will make your liver work to hard. I thought that was a little harsh, so I like to ask people who have experience themselves with this disease for feedback. And yes I will ask doc but that seems so long from now!
Avatar f tn None of those vitamins and supplements will stop the virus or stop your liver disease from getting worse. I would suggest educating yourself about the basics of the disease. Treat you hepatitis C before you wait too long and your liver damage becomes irreversible. Good luck.
1346723 tn?1300718741 If you are having difficulty getting vitamins down, talk to your practitioner about whether or not they are important in your specific situation. Vitamins themselves have been known to cause constipation and gas. While taking vitamins before pregnancy may help with morning sickness, taking them at the beginning of pregnancy can make nausea worse.
Avatar f tn It depends on how far along u are with your pregnancy an how your body can handle vit. But during u first trimester I took flint stone vit.

1129232 tn?1360800358 All are excellent for the nourishing of your lining and are fine for fetus. In fact, flaxseed like your pre-natal omega oils help develop eye tissue as well as neural and brain tissues. These oils are MOST important in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and should already be in the mother's system before conception to best be transferred. Make sure they are high quality vitamins and GOOD LUCK!

Avatar f tn Your chance of clearing the virus completely is about 1% per year. Possibly a little higher on Baraclude. Don't focus on a cure too much, focus on disease management and a healthy lifestyle. Make sure the vitamins you are taking are beneficial and not detrimental, the liver doesn't like ALL vitamins.
649848 tn?1534633700 Like that grandparent, your fat cells are always trying to store stuff. Fats? Of course. Vitamins? Heck yeah. Hormones? You bet. Random pollutants and toxins? Sure. Adipose tissue will soak all that up like an oily little sponge and keep it safe until you need it again. That’s the whole point of body fat—to store energy for you. When you lose weight, your fat cells start shrinking, releasing lipids and other fats into your bloodstream.
Avatar m tn So he tells me it looks like its Chronic now and I probably start you on medication after I test you again in March? The questions I have are if the virus is present multiplying in your liver and its your immune response that is causing the scarring why would you wait? Wouldn't you want to reduce production of the virus ASAP? I am a 51 year old man and my partner zero converted in September.
Avatar f tn While lifestyle changes can prevent additional injury to your liver, the only way to prevent further progression of liver disease is to address its underlying cause. For example if someone has alcoholic cirrhosis they must stop drinking. For someone who has developed cirrhosis due to being infected with the hepatitis C virus, they should get treatment to cure them of the virus.
