1448249 tn?1292624105 You could be pregnant and you also could be perimenopausal. Best thing is to take a pregnancy test, and if it is negative, go see your doc and have some bloodwork done to see what's happening in your hormone profile.
864502 tn?1382640699 I was told a couple of months ago that I am going through perimenopause. I have irregular cycles. My 1st cycle was when I was 15 years old. I had one cycle in September and it did not come back the next month. I took birth control pills when I was 16....The 1st set of pills made me gain weight and the 2nd set made me sick. So now my cycles are 2-5 years apart. The last cycle I had was in May 2007.
Avatar f tn I am wondering what are the best prenatal vitamins? I am not pregnant now but we are trying. I am currently taking GNC Women's Health prenatal formula without iron with 1000mcg of folic acid. Is that ok? What should i do to keep my body healthy and also my husbands?
Avatar f tn Recently, I began noticing some changes that led me to believe I might have entered perimenopause - - - occasional night sweats, always hot, emotional, etc. When my doctor was running some routine blood tests, I asked him to add the FSH test, just to see if I was entering this phase. The results came back yesterday and the FSH was within normal range at 11.7. I was checking around online and a few places stated that if the FSH is over 10, it could be the beginning of perimenopause.
988694 tn?1332359479 I have visited two GYN and they both have told me that I am not in perimenopause according to one progesterone and estrogen test. I am not yet 40, but a yer ago I started to have chronic migraines almost every day, spotting before my period (usually the week before), change in my taste, insomnia, anxiety, and lately some urgency to go to the bathroom. I think that I have had one hot flash that I thought was the result of a large dose of vitamin D I had to take.
Avatar n tn Have either of you been taking different medications (or stopped a medication) or different vitamins, or eating a different diet? If not, it could be that the smell is still there but your nose is not smelling it any more.

Avatar f tn Hi, You might be showing early signs of menopause, or 'perimenopause'. You can do a little research online to see if you think you fit the description of 'perimenopausal'. I know all too well that going to the doctor's is a pain in the neck, but if you are dealing with perimenopause, pregnancy, or a hormone deficiency, your doctor would be the best person to advise you on this.
Avatar n tn You don't mention your age, but it sounds like the beginnings of perimenopause. That's when our female hormones start going whacko, and one symptom is night sweats and hot flashes. They usually start in the chest area. It's entirely normal unless your very young - like under 30 - says the old bat of 45. :-) Since your symptoms are mild, try some black cohosh capsules. They're available in any store that carries vitamins and herbals.
Avatar f tn We have really only been trying for a couple of months, but I am very worried I may be in this perimenopause, as when I read up on it, I have classic symptoms of it. Has anyone else out there been concerned about this, and still gotten pregnant? I desperately want another child!
594293 tn?1222655980 s the majority of it. It had not even occurred to me that it could be perimenopause until a few weeks ago. I went for blood work yesterday so I won't hear results until next week. I have made some changes such as changing to decaf coffee (and only drinking a fraction of what I used to), trying to eat healthy, etc. I would like some suggestions to help with the lightheadedness and jitteryness/nervousness though as these can be hard to deal with as many of you already know!
Avatar f tn I think that I am into my first year of Perimenopause that I have experiences with all Symptoms. Did anyone like me as the first year going through it? It seems aging has its price. I would like to exchange notes with people like me so perhaps we could share better tips to deal with it together. As Perimenopause may cause bone lost so I am trying to add in some Vitamin, did anyone take some Vitaman to prevent bone lost?
Avatar f tn I'm 44 and have been very irregular with my periods for the last few years. I'm on the pill (Yaz) and never miss any. I'm still irregular on the pill even though my GYN put me on it to try and regulate me. I sometimes get my period during the "active" pills and not during the "inactive" pills. My cycle would last anywhere from 3 days to 14 days and would be very light to severe. The last day of my last period was May 1st. I haven't had a period since then.
Avatar n tn I am 43 and I been experiencing almost all of the samethings. I feel like my menstral is on but it's not.

Avatar f tn Im also having bad headaches and bad palpitations too (worse before my period), the thing is, ive had the usual heart test and hormones checked and all is normal! How would pcos afect my hormones and does it make a difference in perimenopause? Please can someone enlighten me or give me advice as i am at my wits end as my gp says it is stress and wont entertain the thought of peri.
377493 tn?1356502149 I know this is due to increased progesterone, but am wondering if you think it might be a symptom of perimenopause. My last 3 cycles have also been a bit irregular. 26 days..not a big change. 28 days, normal. This time AF started on CD 22!! OPK still showed positive CD 13, so O was normal. What the heck? Now, I have no issue aging..I have earned every wrinkle and am darned proud of them.
1398693 tn?1343684738 I've been getting major cramps since I've started perimenopause I saw a midwife ( no gynocologysts was avalible ) about it and I was fobbed off and I was told to take ibuprofen and I told her that I've tried that along with everything on the market and I was told to take ibuprofen before I get my monthly and to come back in 9 mos. Since I can't get help from a doctor ( or anybody else in the medical community ) does anyone have any ideas of how I can stop this pain?
1346723 tn?1300718741 Coffee is okay during pregnancy! :) And Erm, I duno, I shall look for you, because the doctor just gave me folic acid when I said I was pregant! I shall look now... Newly expectant mothers often want to get started on vitamin supplements right away. Many worry that it will hurt the baby if they are too nauseated to take a vitamin, or if they didn't find out about their pregnancies until they were a few months along. But what do prenatal vitamins really accomplish?
1480729 tn?1287557514 I am not a medical professional, but I too have been trying to figure out what is going on with my body, so I can relate. It was also right around perimenopause when my symptoms of possible MS started to kick in and be noticed. My brain MRI is not normal and docs have ruled out mimics of MS. If you have good medical people who you trust, listen to you and care about you as a person, that helps a lot.
203342 tn?1328737207 I am 47 and pretty healthy overall. I've always had very regular, normal periods. No major health issues, except some digestive issues that for the most part are pretty treatable. I've had two surgeries in the past, an appendectomy and a mass removed from my small intestine, but I've done pretty well since then. A few years ago I had an ultrasound done, also, because I was having abdominal pain but they didn't see anything except a large gallstone in my gallbladder.
Avatar f tn If your periods have been more or less regular and if you have no signs or symptoms of any sort of infection, pain, cramping, discharge other than menstrual blood, it would be my humble and non-medical opinion that you are slowly but surely heading into perimenopause. This does not mean that next month you'll in full blown menopause! Perimenopause is the beginning of our bodies learning to live with the ups and downs of fluctuating estrogen levels. Perimenopause can last for many years.
Avatar n tn The erratic nature of periods during perimenopause wouldn't concern me, but the heavy flow/clotting is not normal for me, so that would spur me to call my doctor. Did you check in with your doc?
