However, protein shakes differ a lot in their composition. Some are just protein. Some are protein isolates, which aren't recommended. The best are concentrates. But they can also contain a lot of other things, such as sugars both artificial and natural, vitamins, and minerals. So they aren't all just protein.

He doesnt seem to be very attentive to my weight problem. In fact,he always advocates being thin so as to not to tax my liver, but I am now beyond thin... Avatar n tn I would recommend that you consume 30-40 grams of high quality protein, ideally coming from a mix of whey protein and milk. This can best be done by mixing a scoop of whey protein along with a cup of skim milk. I also suggest to use whey concentrate not isolate! Whey is high in the BCAA. This is a good meal before your workout! Consume this mixture about 1 hour before your workout 1 cup Skim Milk, 1 Scoop Whey Protein Mix these two ingredients together.
Avatar n tn You can try drinking a herbal ginger tea to help settle the nausea. Helped abit for me. Also try snacking on saltine crackers so your stomach doesn't stay completely empty... I lost about 20lbs when I first got pregnant, and am having a healthy pregnancy now at 29wks. Small sips of water to keep hydrated is also a good idea. Pedialyte is another good one to boost your electrolytes or watered down gatorade. hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn t do it regularly, try to at least go for a jog around your block once or twice a week or do workout videos (like the well-known P90X videos) that are quick to whip you into shape at home. As for meal plans, combining complex carbs and protein is your best bet for gaining muscle.
Avatar f tn Personally wouldn't go with the Optimum Nutrition brand. It doesn't have the best quality whey protein exclusively, but mixes in three different types, so you can do better. And be careful with these supplements -- most have ingredients in them that aren't very good for you. A good health food store will have very good protein supplements that don't add sugar or preservatives and you can flavor them by just adding a banana or some strawberries.

Avatar f tn There are a lot of good protein powders on the market that are not meant for "muscle building", but protein is the building block for muscle and muscle burns fat. Exercise also helps build muscle, but if you do the right ones, you won't "bulk up". I often use, both, Greek yogurt and protein powder in my smoothies. The yogurt gives you and extra amount of protein, plus calcium, vitamin B12, etc.
