Avatar n tn from the package insert occasionally in the medication container) there are cardiac side effects. Your dose is a low one but the PVCs (if it is PVCs) need to be checked out by a physician. Maybe he could try another med and see if they go away! Keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time. What could be causing this other than the fact that I just (3 weeks ago) had open heart surgery.
Avatar f tn Our daughter in law informed her doctor that she knows other people who have had the same side effects and were switched and that she also read about the side effects on the net. Doc still refuses to switch her. There are over 100 different BP meds on the market. My husband was switched 4 times before they found the right BP med for him with no or very little side effects, but this doctor wont switch our daughter in law to another BP med. We urged our daughter in law to get another doctor.
Avatar m tn My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar m tn Simvastatin 20 mg is a cholesterol lowering medication and has lots of side effects. There have been a lot of reported ill health due to taking this drug and there was television programme about the use of statins on the UK TV last year where it made people very ill. Can you remember the time she started taking any new medications that may have caused her problems? It may be that the statin is the cause of her symptoms.
478554 tn?1208034407 The Amlodipine you're taking has very similar side effects to the HCTZ. It can also be the very thing causing fluid retention in your legs. Ask your doctor about stopping the diuretic all together for a trial period, clean up some nasties in your diet and drink adequate amounts of water each day. A dehydrated body holds onto water. Drinking more, releases more. If it works, GREAT! If not, work from there.
Avatar m tn You can look up side effects of any medication on the Internet. Or talk to a pharmacist, they would also be able to tell you if those drugs would possibly give you excess sweating.
Avatar m tn I am on Benicar HCT 40/20 mg as well, it is a great drug and has almost no side effects. You make it sound like you may be having some anxiety attacks as a result of your experience. One of the things you get with anxiety attacks is a release of adrenaline which can cause flushing on the face, back and upper torso, it's very common and most likely causing your issue. Try to stay calm and mention the anxiety to your doctor as they can treat that with meds as well.
Avatar m tn I asked the Pharmacist first and he outlined all the possible side effects. Armed with this information, I went back to my doctor and asked to go back to the Benicar. He did not necessarily like being backed into a corner, but let's face it, he's there to take care of me and the Benicar always worked over the past several years.
Avatar m tn I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Avatar n tn I have read about a new BP med with less side effects but my doc, who insists he will change my meds if that is what I want, still manages to say its not the BP med in his next breath...
Avatar m tn Narrowed arteries is not a very common cause. Medication side effects is common. Stress, anxiety or depression is also a very common cause.
Avatar n tn Mike, He just means you can feel them, Many people have them and never know its going on. The doctor is also right about the Benicar, I've been taking 40mg a day for a few years, never affected me. Bottom line, if your echo is normal and your heart is normal structurally, these are normally not dangerous, but they sure can be annoying though!
Avatar n tn Thanks Yvette - The only other new medication she is taking since heart surgery is Benicar. I'm going to ask her doctor to replace the Benicar with something else and see if her condition improves. No one from her primary care physician, surgeon or cardiologist seem very concerned with her vomiting so much.
Avatar m tn I had my gallbladder out while on Benicar HCT 40/12.5, don't remember being asked to stop. Have you asked your surgeon? FYI, this surgery was a piece of cake. I had an appointment for 9:00 AM and was back home on the couch watching TV by 11:30 AM, pretty cool! Let me know if you have any questions about it.
Avatar m tn - Tingling scalp sensations on either or both sides of my head - Heart skipped beats, palpitations - Left side stabbing chest pain - High blood pressure (have had it for 4 years, and had been controlling it with benicar.
Avatar n tn t like the side effects of the drugs that he is taking (beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, statins, and aspirin) so he was refered to a heart specialist at the John Radcliff Hospital in Oxford. The cardiologist has said that he wants to lower the beta blockers then take him off them for good, as he thinks that this is the way to go. I dont think so, and I am now really worried for my husbands welfare. What if it comes back, once he stops taking the betablockers??
Avatar f tn I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar. Is this opposite effect (higher instead of lower blood pressure) common with this medication? Thank you.
