My cardiologist wants my blood pressure as low as possible without side effects. Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Low blood pressure starts at 90/60 and is not really a concern unless it gets below 50 for a diastolic reading. My BP is often around 90/60 and goes as low as 90/55. If you have exercised within the last 2 to 4 hours your blood pressure will also be low.
I am on Benicar HCT for my blood pressure and my doctor has told me to take it twice a day on occasion. If you are concerned or feeling light headed or weak you should call you doctor's after hours service to see if they have any input.
What questions should I ask re what type of blood pressure medication I should be on? I tried benicar and lisinopril and caused sinus drainage - however, they worked Then tried hydrochlorothiazide which cause major constipation .... Now on amlopidine beselate and coreq cr and have fatigue....seems the latter meds are overkill as I had only one coronary stent over 10 hrs ago and cardiologist a few weeks ago said my heart is fine.
I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100.
I experience variuos fluctuations even using Benicar. My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86. Along with this I have lightheadeness, dizziness, some breathing problems, some numbness in my hands and unsteady walking. What I would like to find out if this relates to heart trouble.
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Flecainide does not raise blood pressure and metoprolol is sometimes used to lower blood pressure. If you blood pressures are high, it suggests you might need more blood pressure medication or that you are very anxious about the medication change (this can happen). If the benicar was stopped -- it sounds like it needs to be restarted. A generic ACE inhibitor like lisinopril is cheaper and works just as well.
About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
You have symptomatic PVC that need to be treated with a medication called a beta blocker. If that doesn't help you could have an ablation procedure where we target and burn the origin of the PVC. The PVC's aren't typically a sign of a heart attack. Benicar is not causing your PVC's. They are probably related to you blood pressure and the effect that it has on your heart muscle.
This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.
My question is, are there side effects associated with lowering blood pressure that much that fast? The reason I ask is that I feel as though I do not have good circulation in my feet.
The family doctor assumed it was because her blood pressure was too low so she told her to stop taking Verapamil 240 mg cold turkey. My mother has been taking Verapamil 240 mg for 10+ years so I don't know why she suggested that. My mother's blood pressure shot up through the roof. She was like a pressure cooker about ready to blow her lid. I had to take her to the emergency room.

My blood pressure and many of my family members were always on the low normal side in our thirties and mostly in our early 40's, then ours would spike almost overnight, they called it a family phenomenon, in 2014, after many blood tests, I found it was genetic, blood mutations, clotting disorders. mine spiked to 185 over 150.
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in June 2009, My BP was 201/139 and I had headaches. I was sent to the ER for tests..EKG, lung x-ray, MRI of my head. They prescribed meds Metropol and I was released. I had an abnormal EKG and later discovered an EKG done in 2002 was identical so they told me it was my blueprint. All the other tests were normal. My PCP removed the metropol and put me on benicar 20mg. A couple of weeks later I went to see a cardio doc for chest pain and dizziness.
All other numbers on my blood tests have been good and normal. I have been taken off Benicar for my blood pressure since my blood pressure has drastically improved over last couple of years due to doing more exercise and losing a little weight. My Primary Care Physician has not seemed overly concerned other than to tell me to drink more water and come back in October for another blood test to see where my Gfr level is.
I had a similar experience and my doctor told me to give it some time so that my body could adjust to the med. After a month or so, and after upping the dose of atenolol from 50 to 100 mg (I also take 40 mg of Benicar), my blood pressure is in the 120's to 70's range throughout most of the day (lower early in the morning and the evening). But I also take the bp meds every day. Could your hbp on vyvanse be aggravated by a rebound effect from not taking atenolol?
Lately, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (on benicar now) and yesterday I saw a neurologist who told me that I have mild Carpel Tunnel and a pinched nerve. For the last two days, I have a dull headache in the back of my head and am filling kind of weak, also I feel like I am moving slower, like my speech and thoughts. Am I just freaking myself out or is there something seriously wrong with me?

Ok....I have been having what I call flutters for two years. I am 35 years old and up until a couple years ago (when these flutters started) I was moderately active. I walked on treadmill alot and maintained a decent weight. My father passed away from a heart attack at 44 yrs old. I have always had anxiety issues with occasional full blown panic attacks. Anyway over the last six months my flutters became worse and have gained alot of weight.
The data are inconclusive and I have never heard of anyone having an increased level of cholesterol due to blood pressure meds. Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise.
