Common Questions and Answers about Benicar blood pressure medicine

benicar

My husband was recently put on Benicar HCT for his bllod pressure it was running a little high 168/94. 176/104 and so on. Now with the medicine when he takes his blood pressure it drops to 106/72, 104/76 if it is this low in the morning should he take the high blood pressure medicine.
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75. My question is, are there side effects associated with lowering blood pressure that much that fast? The reason I ask is that I feel as though I do not have good circulation in my feet.
After a month or so, and after upping the dose of atenolol from 50 to 100 mg (I also take 40 mg of Benicar), my blood pressure is in the 120's to 70's range throughout most of the day (lower early in the morning and the evening). But I also take the bp meds every day. Could your hbp on vyvanse be aggravated by a rebound effect from not taking atenolol? Or perhaps you have too high of a vyvanse dose?
Hi, While I generally agree with the above comments, it is also important for you to bring down your high pressure with medication, never neglect it. If not treated, it can lead to irreversible strokes. While taking medications, you can do other techniques to regulate your pressure and bring down the dosage of the medicine slowly. Many times high pressure may be a symptom of some problems with kidney, brain, heart, arteries, or cholesterol levels.
I was put on prednisone for 6 days after I went into shock from the first med. The 2nd thru 5th meds took anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to rear its ugly head and make me have similar reactions that if left untreated would have put me back in the e/r. I am a very highly stressed individual! Hence, the high BP. I run about 140/90 but, I am watching my BP now since off meds for that during allergy testing. I'm about 150/92 in the morning which is usually a higher reading time...
I'm am taking Benicar HCT 20mg for my Blood Pressure and I frequently take Benadryl. I took my Blood Pressure at a pharmacy and noticed that my pressure was sky-high. Is the Benadryl affecting my pressure??
I know I am not the only one who absolutely freaks out when having my blood pressure taken. Every time I go to the Dr's office, they always comment on how high my pulse and blood pressure are (last week when I went it was 127/92 and pulse of 133!) Ha...and those numbers arent even unusual for me! I know the pulse is high, but I don't worry about it as much just because I take it frequently at home now, and know that it is usually in the 80's when I'm at home. But the blood pressure...ugh!
The data are inconclusive and I have never heard of anyone having an increased level of cholesterol due to blood pressure meds. Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise.
They told me that POTS doesn't have severe tremors, body twithces, and high blood pressure. My tremors are so severe at times that I look like I am having a seizure, but I'm not. I get body twitches that I can not control. My hand might just fly up in the air, sometimes it's a leg, or finger, and I've even had my entire body twitch so hard that it hurts. If anyone else has these symptoms, please let me know and do you have a diagnosis?
I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and chronic rem sleep deprivation at 51. CPAP has elminated high blood pressure, use of statins, helped me lose 40 lbs, eliminated years of acid reflx and losec, night time urination. I could go on and on. All of this led me to ENT where I finally realized that I had a long term sinus problem that may play a significant role in the apnee. I use NeilMed sinus flood sinus rines twice a day and its a life saver.
I recently started experimentiong with blood pressure medicine according to my doctor. I am presently trying 20 mg. of Benicar but is giving me cold hands and feet..why..shoul I stop taking the medicine?
I do not have any breathing issues. Just soreness and fatigue. Any suggestions? I am taking blood pressure medicine (Benicar) and testosterone topical cream treatments for low T.
) has stopped using Benicar HCT as my blood pressure medicine and replaced it with Diovan HCT. Should I reject this change or not? Are these two medicines equally as good to use for HBP or should I ask my PDP to continue with Benicar HCT. Your opinion is very important to me. Thanks!
pressure was a little high 150/90 so increased bp medicine to benicar 40mgs with hct of 12.5. pressure came down to 115/75 - thought it was reaction to medicine - stopped it for a week - and symptoms stayed. thought it was stress - started exercising 30 minutes a day - running - some help but symptoms come back - at times when look down get dizzy or lie in bed. have been playing alot of golf and swinging differently - but no back pain - some neck stiffness from new swing.
I am a 23 year-old chinese male. I suffer high blood pressure (don't know the cause, none of my family member has the history of high blood pressure) and I have a 1.7 (I forget the exact number for the new result, it is about 3.2) HI Bilirubin total. I always encounter headache, and pain from the lower right side (the pain's area is about 5.5 inches from the bellybutton; this pain area is mostly below but above the bellybutton) and middle of my stomach (3.5 inches above the bellybutton).
After she stopped taking it she would only vomit every week or two. We started trying different blood pressure medications and finally found Bystolic (high blood pressure beta blocker) works great for her. Your fathers nausea is probably due to medicine. Be sure to ask the doctor to try different medications. Hope your father feels better soon. Please keep us updated.
it helped open up my lung and i was told by more than one doctor to take this inhaler every day like people take blood pressure medicine everyday. so I did that ( i was on a blood pressure medicine too at the time 20mg of benicar).I have lost more wt and no longer need BP medicine. Now my asthma doctor is saying second medicine (21 mg) could be causing high pulse. my concern is not high pulse as much as that it does NOT come down quickly.( by the way i am almost 64 yrs.
I am a 34yo white female. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure after the birth of my second child, however did now have hbp during my pregnancies. I gained quite a bit of weight with my second child. When my 2nd child was about a year old I began having "headaches". My doctor assumed this was related to my bp and put me on fluid pills (dyazide) which infact, did regulate my bp. However the headaches were probably 80 % worse than they were with the hbp.
Please note that for the past 10+ years my mother has been taking Verapamil 240 mg in the morning and Benicar 40 mg at night. Her blood pressure spike really high which is why she takes the strong Verapamil in the morning and a softer blood pressure medication (Benicar) at night. Anyway, after the episode where I had to take her to the emergency room we got her back on her usual routine of Verapamil and Benicar.
I saw my GP a few days later and he put me on Benicar blood pressure medicine. I then saw a cardioologist and submitted to a CT scan and a stress test. Both were peferfectly normal. Then came another attack. My GP doubled my Benicar prescription and things seemed to get better. I've had three minor attacks since the doubling of my high blood pressure medication and I try to take Xanax in the morning and the afternoon to keep my stress level down.
Do you have high blood pressure? The medication your on will help decrease the blood pressure thus less pressure on your aorta. My doctor did say that if this was caused by HBP it wouldn't necessarily get any bigger and I may never need surgery. I have a high BSA (Body Size Area) so for being a 6 foot 1 and 3/4 of an inch woman and carrying more weight than I should my aorta could be bigger than most and it isn't necessarily an aneurysm. I just posted a great report here.
Then while at my doctors office about this, the nurse told me that it may be my blood pressure medication. I asked the doctor, he didn't think it was but did switch me, and immediately the cough was gone! My husband was so angry at this doctor for not knowing this! He was his doctor also, so we immediately switched doctors. Ask your daughter what they call the medical student who graduates at the bottom of his class?.... Doctor!
I to had uncontrolled blood pressure. It took a long time for my blood pressure to stabilize. I had to cut out salt and caffeine and drink plenty of water and much bed rest, not to mention that your blood pressure being that high gives you anxiety attacks which raises blood pressure as well. So I also had to try relaxation exercises Deep breathes and prayer/meditation. Unless I was getting up to the bathroom I was in bed all day.
I am a 36-year old female with a history of asthma, allergies, high blood pressure, severe, chronic constipation and generalized anxiety. I currently take the following medications: Serevent Diskus, Pulmicort, Allegra, Benicar (40mg), Prevacid (30mg), Slow FE, Ovral (BC pills - continuous), (1/2 dose Citrucil + 1 T. Milk of Magnesia + 1 capful Miralax for constipation)and Florastor. About 5 weeks ago, began having shortness of breath (during cold period).
Two weeks after being on the blood pressure medicine is when she passed out and broke her neck. I explained all of this to the doctor when she was in ICU and they did all types of test to check what might be the cause and every test came back normal and she was sent home to recover from her neck injury. She is having alot of neck pain now which is expected with the healing process. The doctor is having her take muscle relaxers to help her have relief so she can heal.
I think you should also ask your prescribing doc to draw blood and check for anemia, your vitamin and mineral levels, and do a urine sample to check your kidney function, all of which can be affected by Olsar. I don't know why you have high blood pressure, but after reading your diet, I would suggest you avoid all foods containing MSG for a while (monosodium glutamate), it can cause the heart to palpitate and give you chest pain.
My asthma medicin is combivent inhaler. I also take a diaretic and blood pressure meds. my doc took me off linsinopril and put me on benicar, and prednisone to stop itching. it hasnt worked at all. It has been very poor air quality in california due to all of our fire, and she says I could be allergic to some of the particulates in the smoke. I have been putting Sarna Lotion on the itchy spots, belly legs back and arms, which alleviates some of the irritation but not for very long.
I am a 49 year old male, non smoker, no family history of heart disease, slighlty overweight, normal lipids and controlled high blood pressure with Benicar HCT 40/25, usually under 110/70. I am on an exercise regime that includes 45 minutes on a tread mill daily (with no symptoms while exercising), which is hard on the RA, but has helped me to drop 50 pounds over the last ten months as mentioned in a previous post.
My blood pressure has spiked to 186/110 and remained at least 150/100. This even after being on Benacar AND toprol. She has now doubled my toprol to 50mg and benicar is at 20. per day. She is obviosuly worried more about my high bp than anything, so doesnt suggest i see a heart doc as of yet. She also put me on seroquel to mellow my body out...? AND has given my lorazepam for anxiety to not get my heart going... Does this sound like a good plan?
