benicar

159619 tn?1707018272 5 about 3 or 4 years ago at a time when I was at my peak weight, well over 300 pounds, not taking very good care of myself and not exercising. My blood pressure was running around 140/85 at the time. I underwent some cardiac work ups due to some chest pain over that time period including a couple of Nuclear Stress Tests and Echos along with all the blood work that is usually done, all tests were always normal. Turns out I had a bad gallbladder, once it was removed the pains went away.
1260320 tn?1270394906 Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar n tn My cardiologist wants my blood pressure as low as possible without side effects. Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Avatar n tn Low blood pressure starts at 90/60 and is not really a concern unless it gets below 50 for a diastolic reading. My BP is often around 90/60 and goes as low as 90/55. If you have exercised within the last 2 to 4 hours your blood pressure will also be low. I am on Benicar HCT for my blood pressure and my doctor has told me to take it twice a day on occasion. If you are concerned or feeling light headed or weak you should call you doctor's after hours service to see if they have any input.
Avatar f tn I do have shortness of breath that internist says may be related to high blood pressure, and cardiologist says may be related to mild sleep apnea (5 is normal and mine is 7)...I need a milder blood pressure med that does not fatigue me. I am 72 yr old female. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn The chest pain has returned and the diastolic pressure is 53.I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.
Avatar n tn I experience variuos fluctuations even using Benicar. My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86. Along with this I have lightheadeness, dizziness, some breathing problems, some numbness in my hands and unsteady walking. What I would like to find out if this relates to heart trouble.
Avatar m tn I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Avatar n tn Flecainide does not raise blood pressure and metoprolol is sometimes used to lower blood pressure. If you blood pressures are high, it suggests you might need more blood pressure medication or that you are very anxious about the medication change (this can happen). If the benicar was stopped -- it sounds like it needs to be restarted. A generic ACE inhibitor like lisinopril is cheaper and works just as well.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
Avatar n tn You have symptomatic PVC that need to be treated with a medication called a beta blocker. If that doesn't help you could have an ablation procedure where we target and burn the origin of the PVC. The PVC's aren't typically a sign of a heart attack. Benicar is not causing your PVC's. They are probably related to you blood pressure and the effect that it has on your heart muscle.
976897 tn?1379167602 134/104 As you can see, my systolic is fine, but the diastolic is a nightmare. All the blood pressure meds I take obviously lower both the diastolic and systolic, and they make me light headed by the time the diastolic drops enough. I can't see any meds which affect just diastolic?
Avatar n tn This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75. My question is, are there side effects associated with lowering blood pressure that much that fast? The reason I ask is that I feel as though I do not have good circulation in my feet.
Avatar m tn Please note that for the past 10+ years my mother has been taking Verapamil 240 mg in the morning and Benicar 40 mg at night. Her blood pressure spike really high which is why she takes the strong Verapamil in the morning and a softer blood pressure medication (Benicar) at night. Anyway, after the episode where I had to take her to the emergency room we got her back on her usual routine of Verapamil and Benicar.
Avatar n tn I don't want to worry you but spikes in blood pressure always worry me.. My blood pressure and many of my family members were always on the low normal side in our thirties and mostly in our early 40's, then ours would spike almost overnight, they called it a family phenomenon, in 2014, after many blood tests, I found it was genetic, blood mutations, clotting disorders. mine spiked to 185 over 150.
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
468015 tn?1218719780 my neuro said it could rupture and i could die. i do have to take seizure meds. i am on keppra 500 2xdaily and klonipin 1xdaily. i take benicar once a day plus numerous other meds. I have MS and and a diabetic. I also have had tias. I am a mess. i take 20mg of predisone and they want to put me on 60 and i won't. it sends my blood pressure up and raises my glucose level. he said it was from a tia. i have temperal arteritis also. it showed up on my mri.
Avatar f tn After a lifetime of lower than average blood pressure (90/60) and virtually no headaches, in the last two months I have developed high BP and a constant headache. Doctor visit for headache found BP at 150/93. Coreg/20mg was prescribed. After a week BP dipped very slightly, and Coreg/40mg was prescribed. Results were not much better. The ache is “whole head” and in back of neck. It’s a little better in the morning but gets worse through the day, correlating with BP going as high as 161/90.
Avatar n tn The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems. I have also had a renal ultrasound, an abdominal ultrasound, cartoid artery ultrasound, x-ray of back and neck and all were fine.
Avatar f tn All other numbers on my blood tests have been good and normal. I have been taken off Benicar for my blood pressure since my blood pressure has drastically improved over last couple of years due to doing more exercise and losing a little weight. My Primary Care Physician has not seemed overly concerned other than to tell me to drink more water and come back in October for another blood test to see where my Gfr level is.
Avatar m tn Vyvanse is not a good medicine for people with high blood pressure and you might talk with your doctor and see if there are alternatives. Beta blockers do antagonize the effects of vyvanse. Maybe a calcium channel blocker or an ACE inhibitor would be better--but first check and see if Vyvanse is a must for you.
Avatar m tn Lately, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (on benicar now) and yesterday I saw a neurologist who told me that I have mild Carpel Tunnel and a pinched nerve. For the last two days, I have a dull headache in the back of my head and am filling kind of weak, also I feel like I am moving slower, like my speech and thoughts. Am I just freaking myself out or is there something seriously wrong with me?
Avatar f tn Long post, please read....I really need some advice. Ok....I have been having what I call flutters for two years. I am 35 years old and up until a couple years ago (when these flutters started) I was moderately active. I walked on treadmill alot and maintained a decent weight. My father passed away from a heart attack at 44 yrs old. I have always had anxiety issues with occasional full blown panic attacks. Anyway over the last six months my flutters became worse and have gained alot of weight.
Avatar n tn I believe Benicar removes excess fluid to lower blood pressure, making you urinate more often. One common side effect of this medication is nausea. I think you are wise to seek an alternative.
