benicar

1260320 tn?1270394906 Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar m tn My resting pulse rate was between 50 and 60, now with benicar is above 70. My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar n tn a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time.
159619 tn?1707018272 Just curious, I was started on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 about 3 or 4 years ago at a time when I was at my peak weight, well over 300 pounds, not taking very good care of myself and not exercising. My blood pressure was running around 140/85 at the time. I underwent some cardiac work ups due to some chest pain over that time period including a couple of Nuclear Stress Tests and Echos along with all the blood work that is usually done, all tests were always normal.
1235564 tn?1267904820 I eat Chinese every day but it is home cooked and without the MSG and sodium. My point is that I have a balanced diet and lead a balanced existence. I am hoping for some help in identifying what it is that's wrong with my lower extremities so I can work towards treatment. I've undergone the foremost tests without any indication what-so-ever as to cause. If anything, the test reveal that I'm actually in pretty good shape. So why the pain?
Avatar m tn I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Avatar f tn What questions should I ask re what type of blood pressure medication I should be on? I tried benicar and lisinopril and caused sinus drainage - however, they worked Then tried hydrochlorothiazide which cause major constipation .... Now on amlopidine beselate and coreq cr and have fatigue....seems the latter meds are overkill as I had only one coronary stent over 10 hrs ago and cardiologist a few weeks ago said my heart is fine.
Avatar n tn You have symptomatic PVC that need to be treated with a medication called a beta blocker. If that doesn't help you could have an ablation procedure where we target and burn the origin of the PVC. The PVC's aren't typically a sign of a heart attack. Benicar is not causing your PVC's. They are probably related to you blood pressure and the effect that it has on your heart muscle.
Avatar m tn i went too take my meds and took the wrong stuff, im on benicar 40/25 my wife is on benicar 20 make along srory short ive took 120mg of benicar by mistake should i be worried
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar. Is this opposite effect (higher instead of lower blood pressure) common with this medication? Thank you.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
Avatar m tn 62 year old man in great health - all of a sudden experiencing pins and needles in hands and bottom of feet. after a few days, pressure in back of head and lightheadedness. symptoms come and go - no rhyme or reason to it. pressure was a little high 150/90 so increased bp medicine to benicar 40mgs with hct of 12.5. pressure came down to 115/75 - thought it was reaction to medicine - stopped it for a week - and symptoms stayed.
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
Avatar f tn blood work and MRI shows nothing. I am unable to point to any change in my behavior: no changes in stress or diet, no dramatic increase in salt intake, etc. I am a 76 y.o. white male in generally good health, maybe 5 or 10 lbs overweight, with well-controlled hypertension, no family history of bad diseases. Ordinarily, I take benicar (medoximil olmesartan) 20 mg to control my BP, which is normally in the range of 110--130 / 70--80.
Avatar f tn After a lifetime of lower than average blood pressure (90/60) and virtually no headaches, in the last two months I have developed high BP and a constant headache. Doctor visit for headache found BP at 150/93. Coreg/20mg was prescribed. After a week BP dipped very slightly, and Coreg/40mg was prescribed. Results were not much better. The ache is “whole head” and in back of neck. It’s a little better in the morning but gets worse through the day, correlating with BP going as high as 161/90.
478554 tn?1208034407 ability to retain water. This reduces the volume of the blood, decreasing blood return to the heart and thus cardiac output and, by other mechanisms, is believed to lower peripheral vascular resistance. Hydrochlorothiazide is sold both as a generic drug and under a large number of brand names, including Apo-Hydro, Aquazide H, Dichlotride, Hydrodiuril, HydroSaluric, Microzide, Esidrex, and Oretic. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86. Along with this I have lightheadeness, dizziness, some breathing problems, some numbness in my hands and unsteady walking. What I would like to find out if this relates to heart trouble. I thought about scheduling a stree test and would like your opinion about all this.
Avatar m tn Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily. After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.) I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.) Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
Avatar n tn I also have had an elevated BUN and Creatinine since beginning Benicar. I am also on Toprol XL 25mg daily. My Benicar dose was dropped from 40 to 20 mg daily last visit. I am concerned about the elevated BUn as it is indicative of renal issues. I drink more water daily and will see on my next visit to doc in Sep what we will do as a plan if my labs are abnormal. I might add I think these 2 have also elevated my cholesterol and LDL! Look forward to follow up note.
Avatar f tn He wants me to start on Benicar 20 mg and Norvasc 5 mg. Well I took the benicar day one and forgot to go pick up the norvasc at the pharmacy and did okay. The second day on the Benicar I did good but when I left work I forgot to go to pharmacy for Norvasc so I was gong after dinner. Before I had the chance within a 2 minute time frame my heart rate went from normal to 160 bpm and would not stop. Went to er where they did blood work and said all blood work looked normal.
976897 tn?1379167602 134/104 As you can see, my systolic is fine, but the diastolic is a nightmare. All the blood pressure meds I take obviously lower both the diastolic and systolic, and they make me light headed by the time the diastolic drops enough. I can't see any meds which affect just diastolic?
Avatar n tn The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems. I have also had a renal ultrasound, an abdominal ultrasound, cartoid artery ultrasound, x-ray of back and neck and all were fine.
Avatar f tn He fought changing me so I told him I was going to change doctors and he finally relented and but me back on Benicar. I love that drug, works great and no side affects for me. I'm fairly sure the doctors at my new health care provider gets some kind of incentive to prescribe other drugs than Benicar, but who knows, maybe that's how I got Benicar in the first place!
Avatar m tn Please note that for the past 10+ years my mother has been taking Verapamil 240 mg in the morning and Benicar 40 mg at night. Her blood pressure spike really high which is why she takes the strong Verapamil in the morning and a softer blood pressure medication (Benicar) at night. Anyway, after the episode where I had to take her to the emergency room we got her back on her usual routine of Verapamil and Benicar.
Avatar n tn m going to ask her doctor to replace the Benicar with something else and see if her condition improves. No one from her primary care physician, surgeon or cardiologist seem very concerned with her vomiting so much.
Avatar n tn I recently (two months ago) started medication for high blood pressure. I'm 43 and my pressure generally ran around 185 over 120 (range). My doctor put me on a medicine called Micardis HCT which is a combination medication with the common diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and the drug telmisartan. This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself.
Avatar n tn I am on Benicar HCT for my blood pressure and my doctor has told me to take it twice a day on occasion. If you are concerned or feeling light headed or weak you should call you doctor's after hours service to see if they have any input. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
