Avatar m tn Dear All, I have a few questions about the diet that patients of Hepatitis C should take/ avoid. 1. Alcohol is an absolute no as far as I understand. 2. What about coffee? I have read reports that it slows liver damage. Is this true? Should one have coffee during the treatment and when one is not being treated? 3. Do we need to avoid fried/ deep fried food? And what about chicken and mutton? 4. During tx papaya is said to boost platelet count. Does it interfere with the treatment drugs? 5.

12365171 tn?1424880667 I'm also drinking one cup of coffee in the morning. I brew it myself and it's not strong, and I add milk in it. My doc said it was fine. I also read the artificial sweetener in soft drinks like diet coke is not recommended during pregnancy so I would stear clear of any soft drinks diet or not. No idea what coke zero has in it but I think a mild coffee is better than a diet coke if you really need a kick of cafeinne.

Avatar f tn If he is on triple tx, with Incivek for the first 12 weeks, he will actually be forced to eat a very high fat diet during that stage (20 mg of fat within 30 minutes prior to pill), as that medication is carried and absorbed via fat. Other than that one drug there are no real dietary restrictions except eating enough and including some fats for better absorption of the ribavirin. Most people lose their appetite and lose some weight while on interferon and ribavirin.

Avatar f tn m not sure that I can confidently say that I have received benefits. However, it is interesting that for each of my 3 relapses before the diet I developed new symptoms and the 2 relapses since I have not. Unfortunately, the benefits won't be seen until 1 year, with the majority of Swank's patients seeing maximum benefits after 5 years. I have met 2 people, spoken to another on the phone and been on a forum with at least another 5 people who all attest to the benefits of this diet.

907968 tn?1292622204 Coconut milk generally raises both HDL and LDL cholesterol (the good AND the bad). If you're concerned about having a HDL level that's lower than you'd like, I don't think coconut milk will help the way you'd like it to. In cultures like Thailand, where people usually eat many more fruits and vegetables than most westerners and less meat, coconut milk is often the only source of saturated fat in the diet.
Avatar n tn Thank you everybody! Coffeemate! I can live with that! What I can't live withut is the coffee! Actually, nobody wants to be near me when I don't have my coffee. I guess I was so focused on the AVOID list that I didn't pay attention to the ALLOWED list. What about rice? Some sites say yes, others no. I can manage that but I'm curious.
