Avatar n tn I had the same problem with weight loss during tx. I have only gained 5 lbs of it back since stopping tx 3 1/2 months ago. Way too thin! After the weight loss began I ate a lot of ice cream, cookies, cakes, chips, pancakes, pasta, peanut butter sandwiches,etc and all foods with high calorie content. It did not help much and I did manage to gain a few lbs, but I strongly feel eating that way kept me from losing more weight.

Avatar m tn One of the remote dangers of the surgery you had is a nerve can be cut. A fifty pound weight loss in my opinion demands a second opinion regarding the procedure. I had the same procedure and it went well, I had about a ten pound weight loss, but no problem with swallowing. Most insurance companies have a provision for second opinions. I'd ask for a second opinion from a doctor at a teaching hospital. As Selma suggested, I hope you keep us informed.
Avatar m tn Basically I've heard of 3 pretty decent weight loss helpers. Green Coffee Bean Extract, Green Tea Extract, and a newer one called Garcinia Cambogia. What I am wondering is would you lose weight faster if you took all 3 or would it be bad for the person taking them? Kind of taking 3 different meds that you shouldn't at the same time. Even though these are supposed to be Natural. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Exercising tones up our muscles (muscle is heavier then fat) so you may not see weight loss, however, your waistline is decreasing. Maintain an intake of 1500 calories per day. Best of luck.

A major effect like 5 cups of very strong coffee? I'm not a coffee drinker so 3 cups of strong coffee really hypes me up. If I have mild to moderate depression and can't take anit-depresants, will Adderrall still calm me if I don't have ADD?
Avatar f tn Embrace how you look and love it, I know I miss my lanky days from time to time. You can do some weight training to gain muscle (much better for you than gaining fat), takes persistency to see the results but it's really worth it and has lots of benefits!

A healthy diet and regular exercise or incorporating yoga into your daily regime can help to lose weight. Eat more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of fats, butter and potato etc. I suggest you to eat frequent small meals and eat lots of fruits and non-starchy green veggies, go slow on fats, eat carbohydrates in moderation and increase your protein intake .
Avatar f tn Also, if you are loosing too much weight, then seek some sort of help for sure. Try to get in your three meals a day, though. Even if you eat a yogurt or something really light for your third meal. At least you are getting back into the habit of it and this may also trigger your appetite to come back to normal. The only true weight loss program is to eat what you digest well (which is beyond the mere cutting of calories), don't eat what you don't, and exercise more. However, there are categories of weight loss aids: Heat: hot herbs increase metabolism some, and also help everything move through thre system more efficiently. Some, like cinnamon, also help with blood sugar.
Tbd Sure, any decrease in fatty or processed food is going to improve your cholesterol numbers. So, yes. Weight loss is always a good thing too. Don't forget to add in some physical exercise as that will help your HDL number grow which is good AND balances the total ratio out.
Avatar f tn re substituting protein for simple carbs when you eat yoghurt instead of, say, white bread, and that helps with the weight loss, but if you eat yoghurt high in sugar you're just adding back in the simple carbs, which turn to fat quickly if not immediately burned off.

Avatar f tn Her last echogram showed her EF to be 20% and she has had several episodes of congestive heart failure. She is physically run down.....weight loss, loss of muscle, not to mention depression. Her cardiologist wants to implant a biventricular pacemaker. I am wondering if the benefits will out weigh the risks at this point. She does not tolerate surgery well and I am concerned about the rehabilitation period.
Avatar f tn I don't know how much weight you're trying to lose... about the most you could do safely in a month is 8-10 lbs... There are a lot of good foods for losing weight... it just depends on what's available. Concentrate on veggies, lean protein, whole grains, etc. You should aim for a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise/day.
