5528669 tn?1369281005 I had laparoscopic surgery one week ago today and about an hour ago I was looking at my belly button in the mirror cause I keep having bad pains in my belly button and there is a dark brown gooey discharge coming out from the incision. Does anyone know if this is normal? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopic surgery back on January 27th to remove a large endometrioma from my left ovary. Everything is going well and I am pretty much healed and back to normal. Then today I scratched near my belly button and felt something sticky. When I took a look, it looks like inside my belly button could maybe be a little infected? It is a little red, but there is a foul smelling discharge coming from my belly button. I guess it's slightly infected?
Avatar f tn I had this surgery 2 weeks ago on June 27. This was the 7th for overian cyst (PCOS) & 1time for gallbladder surgery, so 8 times through my belly button. Woke up day 2 after this last surgery and I had a hard knot that hurt like everything and my belly button was weeping & gross. Never happened before so I panic. I then start passing clots. So call doctor & he acts kind of like why are you calling me. So, went in Monday, it's infected. I'm taken 1600 mg of an antibiotic a day.
Avatar f tn I usually have a monthly period every 1st day of the month. Now my belly hurts so bad it felts like after I had my surgery 8-9 in a scale of 1-10. My period just start yesterday but I dont know if I can call this a period cause its very light seems like it a stain only. I usually have heavy period. This raise some concern to me. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn My Belly button is mot to bad, but then this is the 6th time they went through my belly button. This is my 14th surgery. different things. My problem is 6 days out. My 2 upper incision are really sore the Dr. took my stitches out today and I told him I keep getting these pains that run between my two upper incisions and I guess if I had to descibe the it would be really bad cramps and then like someone is pinching me really hard inside. I get this every time I eat.
Avatar n tn As a surgeon, I have not embraced the concept of single incision gallbladder surgery. Generally, the robotic approach is "marketed" as being an improvement on the single incision approach. In other words, one incision is put in the belly button and an inch and a half plug stuffed through the hole. It is beyond me how these patients are then told that they can resume normal activity immediately since they have "only" had laparoscopic surgery. This is a real incision.
Avatar f tn On examination the doctor found part of the internal suture poking through the incision site at the very back of my belly button. He carefully tugged on it a little bit and it came right out. After cleaning the wound he said he could see where the suture I had rejected had been irritating and poking into the very back of my belly button on the right side. 3 hours later other then a bit of irritation I'm completely pain free.
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopic surgery about 6 months ago to have an ovarian cyst removed. My surgeon had to remove my right ovary and fallopian tube as well. It was my first surgery and I was pretty scared, but it ended up being a breeze. I had little to no pain. The surgeon made 3 small cuts - one on the right side, one on the left and one through my belly button. Of course, I can't see the belly button one, but the other two are tiny.
Avatar f tn I had this surgery 3 months ago and I also had my appendix removed and my belly button has been hurting very much, it feels like something is trying to push out my belly button and it burns and has sharp pains. Below my belly button is a bit swollen. I just would like to know if this is urgent or not. It seems to be getting worst. Has anyone else experience this?
1259649 tn?1336414032 Thanks, if it doesn't start by the end of this week I will give them a call. My fibroids & polyp were removed laparoscopic w/ 2 small incisions one in my stomach & belly button. I had very little pain afterwards & my recovery time was about 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I liked wearing spanx/supportive undergarments that fit up above my belly button. The extra support actually helped with the pain and also made my belly look smaller in my clothes.
Avatar f tn You can always let your doctor know about the incision. 2 years after surgery my belly button had a hole and then a discharge. I think it was a stitch or something trying to work its way out. I would bring it up when you get your staples out. I nurses aide took my staples out so I had no one to ask questions Almost three years out the scar is not so bad. My incision was vertical. I had a nice stomach mow it looks like a sack of potatoes.
Avatar m tn I'm an 18 year old male and back in December (12/8/08), I had Laparoscopic surgery for an appendicitis. Then about a month later (January), I noticed that my left side near my belly button was a bit swollen. You see, because I had laparoscopic surgery..one of the incisions they had to make was on my belly button.Any who, I noticed it was swollen, but I had no pain. Recently, about 4 weeks ago, I'm starting to get this dull/achy pain near the belly button incision.
Avatar f tn Hello again everyone! I am two weeks post-laparoscopic surgery for removal of a dermoid and ovary. Have been recovering well. My belly button incision has been burning. I have been cleaning it with a wound cleanser from the hospital. Tonight I noticed my shirt with some stains around my belly button. I was looking at it, kind of opening the area up and a huge gush of puss poured out. I have a reddened, warm area below the b.b. Obviously I have an infection there.
8975356 tn?1416414054 t even need to take anything for pain after surgery), have a shorter hospital stay and have a shorter recovery time. Unlike traditional surgery, laparoscopic surgery to remove the gallbladder can be done without cutting the muscles of your abdomen. The incision is also much smaller and the scars are much less noticeable than those made by traditional cholecystectomy.
Avatar n tn I have discharge coming from my belly button and I can see all the way in, i saw and my little sisters belly button is closed. I'm kind of worried is it dangerous that my belly button isn't closed all the way?
4355421 tn?1353469379 The incicions are normally on either side of the belly button and then the "camera" goes in your belly button so that incision won't ever be seen. They are only like a half inch long. Mine from my gallbladder removal are hardly even visible anymore!
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. We're sorry you are having this situation after your surgery. Please know that swelling and bloating can last for several weeks after surgery. It's more common with open surgery but can result during laparoscopic surgery as well. Here's an older post here at medhelp in which someone had bloating for 4 months after surgery. https://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I recently had lapriscopic surgery. I now have a lump inside my belly button. It's hard, turning purple, and hurts. Could this be a hernia? Here is a picture of it?
Avatar m tn However, they say that laparoscopic surgery is impossible due to the size. They plan to cut an incision from her genitals up to her belly button. Then, if they find out the cyst was malignant and the cancer spread to her uterus, they will take that out in a second surgery. Something doesn't sound right to me about their story, and I don't understand why they can't figure out more from doing a biopsy.
Avatar n tn An ovarian cyst was found during laparoscopic surgery back in February. (they thought it was endometriosis). The doctor put me on birth control (Sprintec), where I skip the placebo week so that I don't have a period. I missed 1 pill in late April and bled for 2 weeks. That is the only pill that I missed. The past 2 months I've been getting the same symptoms that I had before they found my cyst, except this time I don't have a period.

Avatar f tn If you are having a laparoscopic procedure, the recovery time is only a few weeks. There will be 3 small incisions at the belly button, the "bikini Line" and one in between. There may be a little discomfort for the first day or so and there will be bruising..Your Dx. is a little different than mine, but the end result is the same.. My stitches were removed in 1 week, and I went to the grocery store the same week..
Avatar f tn The area of concern was swollen and extremely sore, it is now pain free but a solid lump around the size of a £1 located above and to the left of belly button. Thoughts are that it could be a hernia or healing muscle tear, any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn s injected for a week after, severe abdominal bloating still 8+ weeks after, discomfort at the surgery site, extreme fatigue, etc. Can anyone tell me what they've experienced or know about recovery for this procedure? Thanks very much in advance.
Avatar n tn A rare patient can have a patent urachal remnant which is a duct like tube connecting the belly button to the bladder. Vertually all of these folk's moms will give the story of having problems betting their belly buttons to heal after birth and describe a "wet" umbilicus that may have persisted for several weeks. With this said, it would be much more common to have a seroma or hematoma of the wound that would drain through the incision.
Avatar f tn Recovery time from this type of surgery can vary depending on the person. The dizziness could be from your pain pill, not eating enough or being dehydrated. You need to make sure that you are eating and drinking plenty and that you eat something when you take your pain pills. Weakness is also normal after surgery. Just because it is laparoscopic doesn't mean that it is less of a surgery. Yes you do not have a large incision, but your body was still cut into none the less.
Avatar f tn In most cases doctors choose to do so via laparoscopy where they make a small incision in your belly button and pump you full of gas and then they make 2 or more smaller incisions above the pubic bone and they then locate the cyst and drain the fluid. Should the cyst be larger or more complex, they do an incision in the abdominal wall and remove it like that. I've only had laparoscopic drainages.
