20929480 tn?1688099872 I've been having pain behind my knees for almost a month now.If I rest for a while & then move around for 10 minutes around my house, then I have no pain but if i walk or stand for more than that,i have pain. It's getting worse every day & sometimes the pain spreads to my calf. I went to the doctor, she ordered a Vitamin D test & I got 20.I had a vitamin D deficiency before & it was 11 and it didn't hurt that much and I could walk and run .
1308443 tn?1302693321 I forgot the name of the condition but it is when the cartilage behind the knee cap gets soft. I just question whether there is really NOTHING to be done. It is very painful and common in teen girls so you would think there would be a fix.
Avatar n tn It started out of no where and ever since, if I go on a run for longer than .75 mile, I get the same sharp pain again. If I continue running with the pain, I'll feel it in the same spot for the next 24-48 hours, especially when going downstairs/upstairs and of course when running. I've stopped running for a long time in hopes this would solve the issue, but after going for a run again recently it came right back.
20929480 tn?1688099872 Pain behind the knees can have various underlying causes, and it's positive that you've already consulted a doctor and had a Vitamin D test. Vitamin D deficiency can indeed contribute to musculoskeletal pain, including joint discomfort. However, your case seems to involve pain that intensifies with activity and possibly radiates to your calf, which might indicate other factors at play.
Avatar n tn I am having numbness in my right foot and a mild pain and numbness behind my right knee. What could be going on?
Avatar m tn About 5 weeks ago I was trying to do rapid-squats without any warm up (yes, stupid, I know), and got this really sharp pain in my right knee, kind of under the kneecap - in the muscle area of my right leg I've been trying to not run at all to aggravate it, and trying to keep it straight, but I'm still taking walks on it. The pain has gotten a lot better, and it's only painful when I squat, kneel or bend my legs (the least painful).
Avatar m tn Pain is very specific in location, center of joint on the lateral side and slightly behind from that location. Pain is not constant and started a few years ago as slightly aggravating but now (still not constant) when it comes on it is severe/sharp. No range of motion, swelling or bruising/discoloration issues. Running forward aggravates it, but running side-step does not (except when I plant hard on my right foot to begin side-stepping left).
18497060 tn?1465345701 When I get up from sitting down, I will get a sharp pain from the back of my knee and my leg starts to buckle. I feel a loud pop. Sometimes at night I will go to straighten my leg out and I have to straighten it out very slowly until my knee pops. I also have a crunching sound underneath my knee cap. Any insight or help would be great.
Avatar f tn s the left leg you should get checked for a condition that I have called May-Thurner Syndrome. It can cause pain behind the knee and thigh and heaviness in the legs whether you have DVT or not. This condition can also cause anxiety as well. May-Thurner can often be missed as a diagnosis especially if you don't have any swelling of the leg. I was having the same problem that you're having.
Avatar n tn I have had the same thing in my left leg - it's been about 2 weeks now for me. Started with some pain behind my knee, I couldn't straighten my leg all the way. Then the pain kind of moved down into my calf, affected my thigh a little, then behind my knee -- it's been on and off for 2 weeks. I tried icing it which kind of helped - tried wearing a knee brace, sort of helped.
Avatar m tn I laid off the knee for the remainder of the week, but when i started lifting the next week, anything that put stress on the knee hurt. Squats, Legpress, Deadlifts, they all hurt right at the middle of the knee behind the patella. It also hurts when I try to jog and occasionally go down stairs. I saw an athletic trainer and he believes that it may be a bruised femure.
Avatar m tn 6 weeks after the surgery I was still having the pain and discomfort behind my knee. I experience increased tightness and pain with exercise....the more I use it the less I am able to do. Even walking causes discomfort. I am not able to pick up my foot and move it back as if trying to touch my butt with my foot. I have a tight, full feeling and its painful. to sit for a period and then attempt to get up and walk is almost unheard of now.
Avatar m tn I started noticing that after running for 3 to 5 miles, I get bruises on my knee (the left knee has darker / larger bruise than the right knee). The bruises only hurt like a bruise when I press down on them. But they are not particularly painful when I walk or run the next day. I run about twice to 3 times a week. Question: Is this someting that I need to pay more attention to or is there any knee exercises that I can do? Thank you!!
Avatar n tn Pain when bending knee /more pain when bending with Lt toes pointed toward the outside. The snap seemed to come from behind and to the left end of the joint.Soreness/tightness remain. What could be happening?
Avatar f tn The most frequent causes of running injuries arise from what is known as "training errors". These include poor running shoes, poor running surfaces or terrain, and rapid excessive increases in milage or speed. Any, or all of these, may have been a factor in your recent episode. If so, a short rest, ice, and careful return to activity should suffice. You have not given a history of injury, either recent or remote, so I assume this is not a factor.
Avatar n tn Two years ago I injured my back and have pain in my right leg and have epidural treatment however the last one was incredibly painful and burned so bad but had no pain relief at all and now I have the terrible pain in the left knee, it is my theory that the dr actually injured the nerve whilst performing the failure epidural.
Avatar f tn about 5 months ago i jumped and landed funny on my left leg it felt like something behind(BACK OF LEG NOT IN THE KNEE)the back of my knee popped and i was in agony for about 15mins the pain wore off but i had to limp for about 2weeks as the pain only came when my leg was fully straightened or fully bentand that lasted for about 3 months it finaly went and last week i joined zumba and at my second zumba lesson i came home and my leg started to hurt when i straighten it fully or bend it funny all
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar m tn pain behind the right knew, goes upward to upper back leg, just recently, happened, age and weight may be part of it, but what to do to relieve it
Avatar f tn There is something called Bakers Cyst that can cause behind knee pain . it is a build up of fluid behind the knee,.I think a visit to the Pediatrician is in order to get it checked ..
Avatar f tn m just wondering if the tightness of the calf muscle - or the atrophy of the thigh - could have weakened the knee joint???? Haven't I read that MSers are more prone to other autoimmune disorders . . . such as rheumatoid arthritis? I know, I know . . . I'm trying to wrap everything up in a single package again.
Avatar n tn I had a patella realignment procedure in April. My knee has healed great and is pain free. I'm back to doing all physical activity - except running. The knee feels excellent; however, I have alot of pain at the graft site on the tibia when I try to run. My three month follow up x-rays showed the bone was healing excellent, the screws were in place, and the grafted piece was in perfect alignment with my tibia. Is the bone pain normal, and is there anything I can do to speed the recovery?
Avatar n tn The injury feels like I overstretched something, similar to a pulled muscle. From the squat position it is at the top of the knee, above the cap and painful to any pressure. It has evolved into a dull pain behind the cap and located at the top. I work a desk job and the worst part is keeping the knee in the sitting position. It is really difficult to stand up and straighten it out.
