973741 tn?1342342773 Tempo runs on the track, springs on the track, running on trails and side walks, running through fields, running through fields bare foot, hills and lots of core conditioning. He wasn't very big on stretching. Their cool down was a 2 mile run. His coach was a track/field and cross country runner at Auburn. Not shabby. And he is young and has produced in his 5 years at the school a pretty successful CC team. We buy running shoes on a regular basis so he always has good shoes.
Avatar n tn Running is great fun, I loved it, but it's not very good for you. It's very hard on almost everything. Some can do it forever with no problems, but it's very hard on the knees, plantar fascia, hips, and the like unless you're running barefoot all your life on unpaved surfaces, which is pretty much impossible in any developed country. People should run because they love it, but skipping rope is a lot less likely to cause long-term harm.
Avatar m tn The left foot is healing on its own but the right is still uncomfortable. especially bothersome while and after running. He went to seen 3 surgeons and everyone suggested different remedies to get rid off. As he used to run for jogging so he asked surgeon to shoes for plantar fasciitis and heel spurs as he doesn't want to stop running. Surgeon suggest him to fins that shoes with minimum padding in the heel cup help out. Do you guys have any suggestion ?
Avatar n tn Yesterday, I saw a foot and ankle surgeon about pain in my left big toe. Films showed a sesamoid fracture, non-articular bone spur outside the joint, and plenty of arthritis. Recommendation was surgery to remove bone fragment and shave off spur when pain was troublesome enough (which it is today). I am a martial arts instructor, which requires me to work barefoot, with intermittent running and jumping, approximately 4 hours per day six days a week.
Avatar m tn Went to Physical Therapist for assistance with healing. Gave me exercises to perform to help heal and some orthotics for shoes. However, pain seems to be getting worse. I do exercise regularly and was walking only 30 minutes twice per week and did elliptical machine for 18 minutes twice that week. It started to hurt after doing elliptical especially. I've had this in the past. However, currently I need to exercise as I have some heart issues (on 25 mg Atenolol).
Avatar m tn Sorry) it is where the fachia tension running under my foot was tearing from the bone. It also caused bone spurrs. I had to have multiple cortisone shots and it got to where they were so frequent the pain from the shots was as bad as the injury. My doctor told me don't ever ever go barefoot and always wear New Balance 1220 series. They are expensive and don't look great with everything but they really help.
Avatar n tn get a rash kind of like athletes foot in between my pinky toe does not spread comes in the summer and i have used differant foot creams but it just continues to stay itchy skin peels goes away in winter what is it
Avatar f tn re walking any distance at all you want stability of some kind. As I say, barefoot is more stable, as your foot is made for walking. Warming up first might help. Potassium is only one electrolyte -- magnesium problems can cause cramping as well. What I would say is, if you're 18, is this truly the only exercise you get? I'm in my sixties and I walk a couple of hours at a brisk pace. Exercise needs to be enough to do something.
15695260 tn?1549593113 A lot of research shows that wearing running shoes is a bad idea to start with, because the arch supports and cushioning over time weakens the muscles of the foot. Running barefoot or in sandal-like shoes, as humans did for most of our history, preserves the natural arch and strengthens the muscles. But, we don't run on soft soil anymore, we run largely on paved surfaces, and running barefoot on these or in so-called minimalist shoes will lead to mashed feet and plantar fasciitis.
Avatar m tn It defiantly can not be a shin splint. This pain is just a few inches above the big toe knuckle. It's been a couple weeks with this pain in the foot. Walking barefoot in my house i feel no pain unless i press on the area then i feel a mass amount even with painkillers. If i have my cleats or runners on i feel pain all the time. I think im defiantly to young for falling arches...
Avatar f tn Have anyone else foot grew a bigger size since they been pregnant??? I went from a 7.5 to 9 !
168348 tn?1379357075 going to try to join a Yoga class that is low impact and one that maybe I can do with my ankle .. at least I will try .. being barefoot on that foot may be a big problem for the ankle (severe tibial tendonitis .. I wear orthotics and high top sneaks 18hrs a day) but unless I try it and maybe sit out the standing parts, I just will never know. In the meantime, maybe I can do some swimming ..
Avatar f tn I would use caution when walking barefoot, there can be parasites and other risks in dirt. At least make sure you have no cuts on your feet and that you wash when you are done. I've never heard of "earthing" before this post, but spent about 5 minutes googling it and have come to understand that it's supporters believe that electrons from the ground will act against free radicals in the body to achieve better health.
Avatar n tn I reckon everything is quite normal in pregnancy.. I had footpain last week @6weeks it felt like brusing under the balls of my feet and heels felt like they were gonna crack! I bought new runners and feel much better... also enjoyin being barefoot in the house which is new to me!
Avatar m tn I still suffer from the same problem, a pain kind of on top of my foot where the foot meets my shin, but feels like its in the joint. Only hurst for 10 seconds or so first thing in the morning when I put weight on it. Don't want to see a orthopedic doctor if I don't absolutely have to as it will be quite expensive.
Avatar m tn Many times with trail running the inconsistent nature of the terrain can alter the mechanics of your natural running style. It sounds as if you may have a tendinopathy of the ankle/foot flexors as a result of the constant gripping of the foot for stability on this uneven terrain. A strengthening routine would benefit, however, do not limit to one direction but all directions of the ankle and foot as well as calf stretching.
Avatar m tn that the skin was cracking (as if the bare foot had been dragged across a rough surface...which was not the case). I bought moisturizer so as to soften the skin, yet the rough skin exterior persisted. Then came the itching & burning sensation (feet). I checked online & found out I had Athlete's Foot (something I nerver had before & I am baffled as to how I got it in the first place...I read a list as to how it can be gotten, yet none of the scenarios applied to me).
Avatar m tn A few years ago, i hurt my ankles during dancing, up untill 6 months ago my ankles were fine, i started running and going to the gym more frequently, and then when i was running, i started getting burning pains and dull aches around my ankles, i use supports all the time as well, it's now becoming more painfull, i go to classes at the gym, and if i do jumping or balance on my feet for to long the burning pain kicks in, an is now mowing towards the arch of the foot, this happens in both feet
Avatar m tn After working out I went to shower and forgot my sandals as I was running late that morning. Anyway I walked barefoot in the locker room and shower that morning. I was wondering. If someone had bleed or had body fluids on the floor or the shower floor and I stepped in it with athletes foot (like I said the only part that had a break in the second skin layer was the size of a pen point that had scabbed over) would this be a risk for HIV?
Avatar f tn due to medical restrictions makes it difficult to exercise. Does anyone here have any advice or exercises that could help me get my legs stronger? I am not yet stronger enough for running or jumping but am willing to do whatever it takes to get stronger. All comments are welcome and thank you for taking the time to listen to my rambling.
Avatar m tn Exercises- walking briskly, jogging a small amount of running, too much running can be bad for you and your bones as your still young and developing. Horse-riding, swimming, karate. even like using a skipping rope or trampolining half an hour a day can make a difference. I would also recommend cutting out or reducing sugary and yummy foods, this will include fizzy drinks, sweets, chocolate, cake, biscuits, crisps.
Avatar f tn My step-dad is 34, he has had recurrent water blisters on his foot for the past 24 years. He gets them and he said they don't hurt, they itch like crazy.. He pops the blister and in a couple days it goes away, but then it comes back in different spots.. I was wondering if anyone knew what causes it? It only occurs on the bottom of both of his feet.. Not on the top & he always wears socks or boots. never barefoot or flip flops.
Avatar f tn Are your toes curling when you are off of them? Have you ever had any foot or toe conditions? While this could be arthritis, it could also be a number of other things. What have you tried to relieve the pain? Does it wake you up?
Avatar f tn I freeze a small water bottle and roll it under my foot for ten minutes several times a day. I was told not to go barefoot even if I get up to go to the bathroom. They gave me steroid shots in the heel but they did not work in my case. It can take a while to get over.
463595 tn?1333997222 Alex is 13mos now and is in a 4.5 so I chose 4 on your poll, but sometimes he has to wear a 5 because his foot is so "Fred Flinstoney" lol that I can't get them into a 4... i've been putting him in Puma's and Converse bc those are the only shoes wide enough without having to buy ugly ones... lol ;) sounds like your boy is going to be tall!
