Bactroban topical cream

Common Questions and Answers about Bactroban topical cream

bactroban

Avatar m tn Hello, Instead of Fucidin which is a topical antibiotic, you can use other topical antibiotics like Mupirocin or Neosporin. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics.
Avatar n tn Be extremely careful about personal hygiene. Application of antiseptic washes may help prevent recurrences. A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months. Let us know if you need any other information and consult a skin specialist if the lesion is persistent. Regards.
Avatar n tn I have switched body soaps, wash my armpits two to three times a day, gone to a medicated baby powder instead of deodorant, tried 1% hydrocortisone cream instead of medicated powder and nothing works. My doctor said it looked fungal and recommended Lotrimin, an antifungal cream. I am three weeks on this and the rash is getting worse...not better. I told him one or two of your readers recommended Bactroban mupirocin, but he dismissed that advice for the Lotrimin.
Avatar m tn I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.
Avatar n tn he told me it was the skin infection Cellulitis and He immediately gave me an Intravanous in hospital and Clindahexal (clindamycin) and Bactroban topical cream. The clindahexal is a very strong dose (8 a day) at a 12 day course. I saw rapid results from the IV and the healing of the infection slowed down drastically a day or two later. So I went back and got another IV about a week later and a 3rd one the following day, as it was showing rapid results.

Avatar n tn Moisturizers should be reapplied liberally during the day. You can also use a topical cortisone (steroid) cream or ointment like dermacort(hydrocortisone). Adding a humidifier to the central heating system of your home or using a humidifier also helps. If still the symptoms persist then possibility of eczema or atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis need to be ruled out. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn I got fluconazole from the doctor for the yeast infection, but it did not go away completely (It healed and came back several times). Both times, doctor asked me to use an antibiotic cream (mupirocin/bactroban). I used it since Nov. 2013 to Feb. 2014. The cream kind of controlled the condition (I do not know I overused it). Then I went to see my dermatologist Feb. 7 2014. He again suspected my symptoms as HSV 1/2 and ordered me to do a blood test and prescribed me valtrex for five days.

Avatar f tn I finally went to a walk in doctor and was diagnosed with folliculitis.. I was prescribed an antibiotic twice daily for ten days and apply bactroban cream 2-3 times daily. I only have about 6 antibiotic pills left (3 days worth) and not much cream left either. However, the only relief I have had is the itching. I do not really have itching anymore and when I do it is minor and the cream really helps.
Avatar m tn Other topicals that are used to treat Pityrosporum folliculitis are ciclopirox olamine cream, econazole cream, alcohol and salicylic acid solution. Retinoids are not very effective. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and discuss these treatment options with him. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
Avatar m tn I'm currently 17 years old, I've had small, skin colored to white headed bumps in my groin area since I was 12. They haven't gotten any better or any worse since about 13. They are very numerous and appear to come from the hair follicles, the only symptom i've had besides the unsightly appearance is occasional itchiness. They feel hard and sometimes a small amount of white (pus?) comes out of them. They appear only on the penis and scrotum area and not on the surrounding skin.
Avatar n tn t be popped and have no puss. I tried applying an anti-fungal cream and it seemed to make it worse. They are not lower on my groin or on my penis or anything. mostly along the waistline of my pants/boxers and that immediate area.. I've been able to find alot of posts on the internet about something very similar or the same but no real answer to what it is. im going to attach a picture, sorry about the bad quality closest thing I have to a camera is my cell. thanks http://img707.imageshack.
1177551 tn?1263970361 Apply warm compresses on the boil and then clean the site thoroughly by topical antiseptics. Then apply some topical antibiotic cream like Bactroban or Neosporin if you are not allergic to any of them. If the symptoms are severe then oral antibiotics and incision and drainage may be needed. Recurrent boils are commonly found in diabetes, disorders of the immune system, malnutrition, poor hygiene and exposure to harsh chemicals that irritate the skin.
Avatar n tn I have had jock itch for about a year now in the groin on left and right inner thigh. My question is, can bactroban cream treat and cure jock itch? Its the only cream I have right now. I'm trying to save a trip and money if possible. So far I've been applying rubbing alcohol and it seems to clear the rash a little but not completely. I've been doing this for 3 days.
