Bactroban for babies

Common Questions and Answers about Bactroban for babies

bactroban

My baby's 4 months and he's got eczema. It is so sever that he's been on antibiotics (Flopen-2ML 4x a day for ten days) for 4 times now. I am worried because the paediatrician who's seeing him gave him ointments and creams which are really strong. I checked the internet and the makers of these ointments say that the product is not safe for children nder two years of age.
my baby is at the stage of the rash were it looks like big saws and it appears to be a little infected and cracked i use bactroban and salt water baths what elese do i do i have a dermo appt on monday so any help over the weekend would be great
Hi, Diaper rash is a term that covers a broad variety of skin conditions that occur on the same area of the body. Friction of skin against itself can cause a rash in the baby's skin folds, called intertrigo. This rash appears as reddened areas that may ooze and is often uncomfortable when the diaper is wet. Intertrigo can also be found on other areas of the body where there are deep skin folds that tend to trap moisture.Keep area well aerated and dry and apply zinc-oxide based cream.
I have switched body soaps, wash my armpits two to three times a day, gone to a medicated baby powder instead of deodorant, tried 1% hydrocortisone cream instead of medicated powder and nothing works. My doctor said it looked fungal and recommended Lotrimin, an antifungal cream. I am three weeks on this and the rash is getting worse...not better. I told him one or two of your readers recommended Bactroban mupirocin, but he dismissed that advice for the Lotrimin.
Dear Doctor, I have been suffering from some type of Rash located at the top area of the buttock crease. Where the back end an the buttocks begin. It is quite painful and itchy. I know it is not a Pilonidal Cyts. I have used Bactroban, and other remedies such as corn starch, baby & medicated powders, placed a paper towels between the crease to keep it dry. It breifly heals, then it begins to itch and again the area bleeds and becomes irritated. Your response is greatly appreciated.
She was on Keflex for 10 days, Duricef for 10 days and Cipro for 10 days. We have been using Bactroban ointment continuously until this week when we started using Altabax ointment. Still, no improvement. When one spot is almost gone, she will wake up with a new spot. It has been a never ending cycle. She had a negative strep culture. That is the only test they have done. It does not itch or burn.
Also we were asked not to use baby soap while giving him a bath - instead were asked to use a mild cleansing lotion. We have been using for the past two months but the problem still exists. Just wanted to check if anyone faced this issue before? if so please provide your valuable inputs.
I tried to stay at home, ventilate it being naked in front of a fan and used baby powder for a couple of days. But, once, I get out of the house, and the skin is rubbed against. A sharp pain starts and irritation starts killing me. The last week, I spent most of the time at home. But, no progress is made. Would you please advise? I'm really confused. ,it is the bumps or me stretching the skin that has not been fully healed yet.
I have tried elidil, bactroban, aloe, baby lotion, petrolium type ointments like bacitracin, buttermilk cream, chapped lip stuff and most recently aveeno (which worked for like a day then it came back). I dont know what to do!!! It Itches and looks terrible and is painful. I am uninsured, so a dermatology appointment is out of the question for the time being. Please help me before my skin is permanently damaged and scarred from all the chapping. Thank you.
It itches, but not as bad as hives would and does not hurt. I had it before and both times, I was breastfeeding a baby. Does this give the bacteria a way in? An infectious disease doctor thought it was a bacterial infection and antibiotics and antibacterial Bactroban ointment seemed to clear it up in about 2 wks. I also had a fever the first few days it appeared - very weird and nobody seems to know exactly what it is.
It looks like tiny red bumps all over, with patches of raised red area, I've tried perscription anti-itch cream, baby power, diaper rash cream, and bactroban cream, nothing seems to help??
'( I am so scared bc now I have a new boy friend and I mean we haven't done it yet but ....yea.. in the future what if we want to hav a baby and we have unprotected sex I just don't want to give him something.
A couple weeks after delivering my baby I started getting these weird bumps on my vagina not around the opening more like on my outer lips up towards the top and my inner thigh. First it stared on my inner thigh it was a little red bump I popped it that only made it worse it started oozing pus about 3-4 weeks later it healed. About 6. Months later a welt like bump appeared on my same thigh it hurt! I put cortozen cream on it the next day it was gone! Nothing since.
It is getting better but not totally after the ten days of cefelexin and a topical treatment called bactroban i think. He gave me 4 more days of the oral antibiotic. I waited a few days to start using the medicine because i thought it was going away and i was just using baby powder and triple antibiotic ointment. It irritated it and made it itch. could this just be irritation from the dry skin caused by th baby powder?
1. What did I do wrong after the gym incident - I thought i was being pretty prudent in cleaning it all up - I was suprised that it still got infected. 2. It is 2 days later, and the wound seems a little bit smaller and not painful, but doesn't really look so good - there is a dark red border around it. I mentioned this to my doctor today (Friday) and he said that I should come by on Monday to get it looked at and possibly to have the infection cut out. Should I be worried?
This could be the problem as well, so should I refrain from shaving? I have used 1% Hydrocortizone cream and Johnson's Baby Moisturizing Cream on the rash, but this has not had a great effect. It feels as though this itching sensation is taking over my body. I hate it. It's so embarassing too. I would like to do something that doesn't mean going to the doctor, anyone have any suggestions? They would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

You can treat it with antiseptic washes combined with topical antibiotics like Bactroban(Mupirocin). You can apply the ointment on the bumps, thrice a day for a week. You could also apply warm compresses to hasten the resolution. Benzoyl peroxide ointment can also be tried, which is used to treat acne lesions. I also went to the dermatologist and she gave me some soap to wash them out with, and cream, but the cream is $200 for a tube, and that's not the kind of money ANYONE has to spend each time they appear (besides the cream didn't work anyways...). Lately, I have tried putting baby powder on them, but it hasn't done any spectacular job, and they are still appearing! Does anyone have any ideas or remedies to get rid of these? ANY help is SO much appreciated!
Me again.... As you all know my 5 month old was in the hospital 2 weeks ago due to a sudden high fever and seizure. She is all better now but developed Impetigo. I took her to her primary last week and he prescribed a topical antibiotic ointment for it but did not think it was a staff infection. Saturday the baby got another low fever but I did not want to mask it with Tylonel again so we went right to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The 14-yr old gets spots sometimes and I've been told it's staph, and she's going to get it from time to time. All I do is clean the sores and apply Bactroban ointment, which is the same Rx they use for humans. This seems to keep them under control, but I'm interested in the Brandy treatment. Do you give this orally to the dog or do you place the drops on the sores? Do you treat the dog once a day for x amount of days or what is the script?
They keep diagnosing him with Impetigo, and he has been on 2 types of antibiotics, and Bactroban cream. He is still getting them. They have no idea of what these blisters can be. They said that they didn't think that they were herpetic because they are perfect circles, and herpes tends not to be circular. He has them mostly on his arms, legs, and head, with one on his stomach. They don't seem to be painful to him, and he doesn't flinch if you touch them.
However, it could have been false-negative since I was already using the Ketoconazole, so he is almost positive that it's still ringworm. He prescribed me Bactroban cream (to be applied 4 times a day to the big infection and to the new infection on my left thumb), along with the ketoconazole I was already using (also 4 times a day). It has been 10 days since I began this treatment. It was oozing and getting bigger, so he told me to put baby powder on it if it was oozing.
So after a round of antibiotics, several warm compress, a lot of bactroban and plenty of time...she is now just waiting for the dead skin to be replaced with new. Abby also has eczema that comes and goes - so we have all kinds of stuff for it. One thing we DON'T ever have issues with are food allergies or any other allergy. The last time I had an issue with one of my kids being allergic to something was when DD15 was 18 months old.
A nurse practitioner gave me bactroban thinking it was a bacterial infection. This was only a couple days ago but I don't see much progress. Though maybe the bumps are going down. Is this that red scrotum problem people talk about? How worried should I be about this? Any solutions? I really am not even concerned about the color except for the fact that it looks wierd, but I haven't been to the gym in forever and I get sick of the constant itching/burning.
My symptoms are, itchiness, chapping, red and inflamed, cracked.
( I am not an avid exerciser). He said I could also rub my scalp with baby oil. (very lightly). I did research on the internet and there is supposed to be some shampoo and conditioner for sensitive people so I am going to try it. (this might not be your problem at all but I thought I would mention it.
And about a year ago they began to appear in my anus are. I've received LOTS of pap smears and ALL of them come back normal. I recently just had a baby and my OBGYN tested me for HPV and it came back negative. The really odd thing about all of this (other than the fact that these doctor' say they look like genital warts but all the test keep coming back normal) is that all these doctor's keep prescribing external cream that is used for genital and then they go away.
Then (assuming it was a severe bacterial infection) I switched to cleaning it thrice a day with alcohol and applying OTC 1% hydrocortisone cream. Also use baby oil to minimize skin irritation and soothe the area There is temporary relief but it comes back. Some sores have subsided but new ones keep developing w the slightest skin irritation. Also, yesterday I scratched minor pimple on my butt and now I have a red painful bump there too. Same thing is happening with a pimple on my face.
The solumedrol allowd me to catch the virus that my baby had. Combine that with a sinus infection that has already survived 3 rounds of antibiotics and well I ended up in the Inturnests office. I wasx only able to see the NP that day. She gave me biaxin. I stayed sick, with green smelly junk. Three days after the Biaxin was gone, I am right back to square one. Neuro thinks that the lingering MS symptoms are due to the lingering infection. I have always been one to catch everything.
