I don't know if the poison ivy is related to your acne, since it is very common to get acne at the age you did. Specifically, what did you try for your acne? One of the best topical gels is Differin which is effective at clearing acne whilst being generally well tolerated without causing excessive dryness like other preparations can. Use a good quality cleanser for combination skin.
Azithromycin is an antibiotic and is used for infections/ acne and would not have an effect on rash caused due to sun exposure. As for the acne if over the counter ointments have not been effective, you may consider consulting a dermatologist for appropriate treatment. For the sun rashes, it is advised to use sunblocks (SPF 30 and above) atleast 30 minutes before sun exposure and avoid direct sunlight if possible. Hope this helps. Take care!
Hello, It can be due to folliculitis or acne on back. Back and shoulder acne are quite difficult to treat compared to acne on other parts of the body. Thoroughly wash your body everyday, especially the back and shoulder part using a back brush and frequently change your bed sheet, as it is conducive for bacterial growth. Engage in a diet that is low in sugar and fat but is rich in vitamins. This prevents acne by preventing the buildup of excess oil on the skin.
I have been having this random cluster of red acne like spots on the upper middle of my back. I'm not sure if it's acne or a rash from my laundry detergent? I've been using benzoyl peroxide acne cream but it's still there. It used to be raised a little like acne but now its all flat.
i dont know how i started getting acne on my lower stomach.. i started getting acne there when i was 19 years old.. i want to know the cause and how to treat it..
You may wish to repost this in the Dermatology Forum, as this does not sound like acne vulgaris. Acne occurs on oil-rich areas of the skin such as face, chest and back. Spots on the stomach and under the arms are likely to be symptoms of a different skin condition. Mild acne on the face can be cleared with a topical retinoid gel called Differin (adapalene). This is applied at night and is generally well tolerated. Eloise.
My daughter has an acne like rash or bumps on her forehead. In the afternoon after school it looks really irritated again and she says it feel itchy somewhat.
Hi there! Back acne is difficult to treat compared to facial acne. The back skin is thicker and tougher with lots of sweat glands. The pores are larger and they usually form cysts or nodules. For moderate to severe acne benzoyl peroxide and alpha hydroxyl acid is very effective. Even acutane has been found to be effective. Be careful about its side effects like dry eyes, lips, blurring of vision etc.Wear only cotton clothes. Avoid sweating on the back and change clothes frequently.

Hello, These bumps are due to folliculitis. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.
About a month ago I got a few bumps on my back mostly lower and upper not really in the middle of my back. The bumps are hard and itch sometimes large and sore. I recently started getting time on my shoulders as well as a large one in my arm pit. It keeps me up at night itching but not as itchy during the day. I have tried acne creams and benedryl lotions nothing helps it go away. Not sure how I got it haven't done anything I can think of differently as far as detergents or soap. Please help!
In June I met this guy I was the top (safe) and did everything else. Two weeks later I break out in a rash, back chest upper arms and face. From photos on the net and from my Dr. Diagnosis, it's folliculitis. I didn't ask to be tested for HIV, because I've been scared to know. However it's been 3 months and I'm still breaking out in what is not acne. Your thoughts on whether I've contracted something from my descriptions.
Dear All, I am writing this post hoping to find somebody that can help me in getting me an answer to my question.. I have a facial rash that started to develop last year September.. My doctor told me that it was acne.. He found that the symptoms were clear as day.. He provided me with some antibiotics and a gel called Differin.. Which is supposed to dry out your pimples and anything else concerning the " acne".. As I used the differin I did not notice any changes in the rash..
9 days ago, I developed an itchy rash that looks like acne. It is on my right shoulder and my chest next to my right armpit. My general practitioner has no idea what it is, but did prescribe Valtrex thinking maybe shingles. I have been taking the Valtrex for 5 days. I can't see my dermatologist for another 4 weeks. About 4 days after noticing the rash, it has started to spread.

-one or more patches of welts or bumps on body -pustules/boils on back/neck or groin -acne since pre-teens Most 'memorable' episodes were when my bumps made me swell from head to toe twice. And once continued sprouting new bumps for months. All of which neither my A&E doc nor GP could diagnose. First two attempts to pierce my ears ended with surgery to remove the studs lodged in my infected earlobes.

Just came off prednisone approximately two weeks ago to treat poison ivy, and after taking prednisone for the full ten days (with no taper), I had developed a rash on my back, which became even worse. Now it seems like there are no flare ups but the rash remains. I am 25 yrs old so this shouldnt have anything to do with puberty. Any ideas what this may be? It resembles acne, very dense, and red.
Hisham, your condition looke like folliculitis. Are you prone to acne? Steroid consumption could cause this. Do you have it on your back as well? Friction folliculitis is another possibility- thro use of tight fitting clothes during games and sports. Oil folliculitis occurs in those exposed in the course of their work. Some of the lesions on the chest look like keloids are developing. Some people esp those with pigmented skins are prone to keloids which is a sort of growing scar tissue.
Other differentials will be a dermatitis, a fungal infection, allergic reactions, keratosis pilaris and a sweat rash. Acne is common and may involve the back and arms. For extensive cases, your physician may prescribe you with medications. However, I suggest that you have this assessed first. The differentials noted above each have varying forms of management. A complete physical examination is necessary. Have you had bouts of acne before?

I do not have time to go to the dermatologist as I am under a heavy workload (obviously I will go if needed but im turning here first). Here's a picture of the rash I noticed on my upper back. Please any insight u can give would be greatly appreciated. Is this anything to worry about?
