Common Questions and Answers about Back rash acne

rash

I've had repeated occurences of an acne-like rash on my back since adolesence. I'm sure it's hormonally-related as it gets worse during my period and goes away while I'm pregnant and for the first while breastfeeding. It's not contact dermatitis as I've been through eliminating EVERYTHING that could cause it. My upper back is covered in these acne-like bumps that are very itchy and leave scars as I scratch so much. I haven't found a lotion that calms the itch yet.
I have been having this random cluster of red acne like spots on the upper middle of my back. I'm not sure if it's acne or a rash from my laundry detergent? I've been using benzoyl peroxide acne cream but it's still there. It used to be raised a little like acne but now its all flat.

I don't know if the poison ivy is related to your acne, since it is very common to get acne at the age you did. Specifically, what did you try for your acne? One of the best topical gels is Differin which is effective at clearing acne whilst being generally well tolerated without causing excessive dryness like other preparations can. Use a good quality cleanser for combination skin.
Hi there! Back acne is difficult to treat compared to facial acne. The back skin is thicker and tougher with lots of sweat glands. The pores are larger and they usually form cysts or nodules. For moderate to severe acne benzoyl peroxide and alpha hydroxyl acid is very effective. Even acutane has been found to be effective. Be careful about its side effects like dry eyes, lips, blurring of vision etc.Wear only cotton clothes. Avoid sweating on the back and change clothes frequently.
It's itchy and leaving a rash along my check. I'm not sure what it is, if it is acne, or what to do. I'm beginnning to be very depressed as I feel like back in high school when my entire face was covered. Any ideas? Could it be poison oak, ivy, sumac or other allergic reaction?

Dear All, I am writing this post hoping to find somebody that can help me in getting me an answer to my question.. I have a facial rash that started to develop last year September.. My doctor told me that it was acne.. He found that the symptoms were clear as day.. He provided me with some antibiotics and a gel called Differin.. Which is supposed to dry out your pimples and anything else concerning the " acne".. As I used the differin I did not notice any changes in the rash..
You may wish to repost this in the Dermatology Forum, as this does not sound like acne vulgaris. Acne occurs on oil-rich areas of the skin such as face, chest and back. Spots on the stomach and under the arms are likely to be symptoms of a different skin condition. Mild acne on the face can be cleared with a topical retinoid gel called Differin (adapalene). This is applied at night and is generally well tolerated. Eloise.
My daughter has an acne like rash or bumps on her forehead. She is 15 and has had occasional breakouts in the past, however, this is very strange it looks more like a bumpy rash and in the morning it appears to be almost gone. In the afternoon after school it looks really irritated again and she says it feel itchy somewhat.
Other differentials will be a dermatitis, a fungal infection, allergic reactions, keratosis pilaris and a sweat rash. Acne is common and may involve the back and arms. For extensive cases, your physician may prescribe you with medications. However, I suggest that you have this assessed first. The differentials noted above each have varying forms of management. A complete physical examination is necessary. Have you had bouts of acne before?

Hello, These bumps are due to folliculitis. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.
Just came off prednisone approximately two weeks ago to treat poison ivy, and after taking prednisone for the full ten days (with no taper), I had developed a rash on my back, which became even worse. Now it seems like there are no flare ups but the rash remains. I am 25 yrs old so this shouldnt have anything to do with puberty. Any ideas what this may be? It resembles acne, very dense, and red.
I have started using it on my back and it has been helping with acne on my back, however, while researching klaron tonight I read that it should not be used on large areas of skin. So does this mean it is dangerous to use on my back or am I ok?

I recently started getting time on my shoulders as well as a large one in my arm pit. It keeps me up at night itching but not as itchy during the day. I have tried acne creams and benedryl lotions nothing helps it go away. Not sure how I got it haven't done anything I can think of differently as far as detergents or soap. Please help!
Hi! I am 18 year old male with acne/skin trouble. I got red acne-like dots on back of my hand, mostly in area between shoulder and elbow, little bit down to near-wrist too. I've had it for a long time now, lately started concerning about it. They are red bumps what do not itch nor are sensible, only look and feel terrible. I doubt it is allergy of some kind as I have moved and changed environment, tried different clothing, washing stuff and so on.
