Avatar_m_tn I am a 59yr old woman, still suffering with hot flashes and night sweats and now for about a year, I have been experiencing this horrible pressing sensation (rather than pain) in my back (between shoulder blades that radiates out in a circular pattern and then alternates with pressing chest discomfort.........It is not pain, but excruciating pressure, like a big truck or heavy something is pressing into my back.........It last for hours, usually starting at 3am and going til 7am.
Avatar_n_tn I have a pain in the upper part of my back between my shoulder blades and pain in my left arm. I have had an echocardiagram and Thalium stress test plus x-rays they were normal. At times by whole body aches. I have a bunining in my stomach at times. I was wondering what is causing this? Avatar_m_tn I am a 28 year old male with pain in my back between my shoulder blades. This has been going on for about 3 years. I had my gall bladder removed about 6 months ago and thought the pain was associated with that but, the pain remains the same. The pain often occurs with burping and sometimes hard to get food and drink swallowed. It is usually worse at night when laying down and sometimes in the morning.
1679858_tn?1346768781 Along with neck pain, burning between the shoulder blades is my big pain area. I don't have the typical headache chiari pain. However, I do have a bulging disc at C 6-7, so that probably contributes to the pain in the shoulder area. Everything in that area is just a mess though, I'm sure the chiari is messing up the nerve signals, CSF flow, muscle tightness, etc. I do not have a syrinx.
Avatar_f_tn I TOLD MY PHYSICIAN DURING A ROUTINE VISIT THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED A PARALYZING DISCOMFORT ON A FEW OCCASIONS WHEN I LIE DOWN AT NIGHT. I GET THIS DISCOMFORT/PAIN THROUGH MY back between MY shoulder blades BUT PRIMARILY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. MY PHYSICIAN SENT ME FOR AN ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND. THE RESULTS FROM THE ULTRASOUND WERE SOME FAT TISSUE SPOTS ON MY LIVER AND SLUDGE IN MY GALLBLADDER. MY PHYSICIAN HAS NOW REFERRED ME TO A SURGEON. WHAT EXACTLY IS HE REFERRING ME TO THE SURGEON FOR?
Avatar_f_tn i have had this pain for over a week and its rather like i have been punched in the back. Its between my shoulder blades and causes shortness of breath. i am unable to get comfy. I first i thought this was just trapped wind...lol.# Anyone have any ideas???
636562_tn?1223671045 A few days ago I did have some sudden tenderness in that area (running down my spine and between my shoulder blades), it doesn't affect any other area. The tenderness felt like a large bruise back there, but I had my husband press in the area and it didn't hurt when it pressed and palpated the area. Possibly related....?? I recently had a mild, brief bout of costochondritis in my left 8th rib, I've had that pain off and on for about 8 years.
Avatar_f_tn He has been having horrible pain between his shoulder blades that won't let up. I say go to the doctor, he said the PSA level tells if he has any other cancer anywhere in his body. Really? Also, he is an extremely heavy drinker. I was thinking his esphagus could be eroding??? Any help is appreciated. He hates going for a physical.
Avatar_n_tn Diabetes (insulin) and epilepsy and IBD bunch of other junk. I am 72 years old. But today I had such severe pain between my shoulder blades in my back and became really short of breath. It lasted a couple of hours and was not as bad after I took a nap.
Avatar_f_tn Hence an ultrasound, liver function test and an upper GI endoscopy is needed for diagnosis. A pain between shoulder blades could be due to acidity or duodenal ulcer or due to dilated bile duct with involvement of pancreas or a combination of either. Hence you need to investigate for liver and gall bladder issues, pancreatitis with tests for serum amylase and lipase, and to rule out acidity or duodenal ulcer by taking omeprazole and seeing if your pain responds to it.
1212317_tn?1266204306 I just don't understand the horrible neck pain and cracking. Also inbetween my shoulder blades is all ways hurting and numb and prickle. Its starting to move further done my neck. Also I have bad cramps in my calves all the time now. My legs and hands and arms and feet prickle sometimes. I was in a car accident back in sept I had to have a plate put on my clavical. They just found out I had whiplash. Can it be from the whiplashh? I do physical therapy and it seems not to be helping.
1679858_tn?1346768781 I felt as though all the muscles in my body could handle it, but I got this extreme, weird, weakness between my shoulder blades and knew I had to stop. The next few days, I would have such fatique...but it was not a normal fatigue from simply just working out. I stopped those classes and decided to try Yoga. Thought it would be a gentler form of exercise.
Avatar_n_tn Ive had pain and knots in my back between my spine and both shoulder blades since freshman year of high school. I am a 19 year old female. The pain comes and goes at random. But this time its the worst its ever been. Ive tried stretching/massaging my muscles but that doesn't seem to be working. Ive taken so many asprin/ibprophen over the years that they don't even phase me anymore so Ive stopped taking them.
Avatar_n_tn For about the past year I have had a tightness/knotty feeling that feels like it is in my spine between my shoulder blades and a few inches below my shoulder blades. The above tightness is accompanied simaultaneously by a tightness/knotty feeling in my sternum. This problem is there almost 100% of the time. 90%of the time the pain is about a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10.About 10% of the time this tightness in my spine and sternum increases to about a 5 or 6 on a pain scale of 1 to 10.

Avatar_n_tn However the pain continued and twice I had pain on my left arm, Left shoulder blades and back. Besides I had pain in the jaws for almost 2 months.I also had the feeling of numbness on left fingers and left leg for around 1 week. Besides I had severe headaches and at times felt dizziness and fatigue. The doctor told that there is nothing abnormal. The pain normally occurs twice a day and lasts for more than 2 hours. The pain in the chest continued at different places in the chest region.
Avatar_f_tn Disc disease from the lower cervical area can refer to the shoulders, upper back and rhomboid area of the spine (between the shoulder blades.) Deep, aching pain is a sign of referred pain. I'd suggest a visit to your physician or a pain and spine specialist (MD, DABPM) for a diagnosis and treatment options.
Avatar_m_tn The pain may be sourced from inflammation of the tissues or tendons surrounding the scapula or the shoulder blade. Although pain between shoulder blades may signal that there is something wrong with the tissues, joints, ligaments or muscles around and within the shoulder region. This may be caused by too much stress or too much time spent in front of the computer. This may also indicate a posture problem. You need a cervical X ray and probably MRI of shoulder joint. I hope this helps.
Avatar_n_tn I'd been having pain between my shoulder blades for about 1 a month and a half and at first thought it was muscle spasms as I've had spasms before and therefor took mega doses of Advil and ignored them. In that 6 weeks I experienced 3 episodes of extreme pain. The first was while getting into bed and the pain was extreme enough that I thought it was a heart attack. I ignored it, stretched, and it started to go away.
Avatar_n_tn I have a burning sensation between my shoulder blades, and burning down the back of my right arm, sometimes the left, but mostly the right. I also get tingling and numbness in my ring and pinky fingers on the right hand. I have a lot of migraines and have had a positive ANA, but no other abnormal labs. Any ideas? Avatar_n_tn The pain often times is between my shoulder blades (dull achy) and can run down my arms. I also have problems with my legs being tingly at times and the toes on my left foot go numb. The dull achy pain that does not go away is on the right side of my neck. The pain runs up my neck, into my head and behind my ear. I have achy pain/pressure around my ear and toward/including my eye that do not go away. It is driving me crazy at this point.
