Common Questions and Answers about Back and neck sore muscles

sore

For the last 4-6 mnths I am experiencing pain and soreness in my upper body muscles - all of them. My u7pper arms are very sore at the moment as is my back and shoulders. Occassionally, I have problems with my legs but not as bad as my upper body. What is causing this? My Diet is good, not heavy on fruit, but plenty of vegetables, a balanced diet although I do enjoy red wine.
My muscles and joints have been really sore the past couple of days and I haven't done anything for them to have reason to be sore? Especially in my left leg, foot and shoulder! I hate it bc I'm 26 years old and should be able to run and play with my kids and just can't!
A week later my feet also started to twitch, and my calves and feet started to feel sore. My doctor keeps telling me that i don't need to see a neurologist. Tonight i woke up with pain in my front upper leg. I'm so worried that i have ALS/MS. How worried should I be? I don't have ALS in my family history. I try to relax and don't think about it, but i constantly experience pain in my calves and now also in my upperleg and it freaks me out.
My lower back hurts--probably arthritis--but I had an mri of my lumbar and every disk was bulging and there was stenosis. My leg muscles feel often like I worked out, I have problems standing too long at times. My left side is worse. I was a work out nut and should have let up--but after 3 years and still in pain, I would think a doctor could tell me something. I've had epidurals and they didn't work. I've been given pain killers and don't want them, I want answers. I am near Tuscon.
I have stopped climbing now for a weeks in hopes I would go back and be fine, but have noticed that even simple things like lifting something heavy will make them a little sore again. I am so athletic and it has been killing me not being able to climb... I really want to get back out there. I thought maybe because I dont get much calcium or something like that could have effected it some what, so I got some supplemental vitamins from GNC that is the daily dose of calcium.
The headache now seems to be continuous as you say, termed chronic daily headache, a common outcome of unresolved/undiagnosed headache. To eliminate the problem the underlying cause ?neck muscles should be identifies and treated, and your pain medications managed carefully to avoid or elimate medication overuse headache (a common additional factor to chronic daily headache).
20w5d and woke up with a sore neck in the front??when I lean my head back and stretch my neck it hurts all the way from under my jaws and chin all the way down to my chest..can anyone tell me what's going on?
I would even experiance tingling in my right elbow. Now the neck pains seem to cover my whole neck and bottom of the back of my head. I am popping Tylenol which seems to help give releaf for an hour or so. Can I have a cold in my neck muscles?
My sore muscles are to the touch. Primarily in my neck and shoulders, however there are other sore muscles these are just the worst. This has been going on for at least 3 or 4 years. Tingling in my hands and feet happens many times a day. When I am laying in bed, standing, sitting, working, etc… This has been going on for at least 3 or 4 years. I have recently (in the last year) noticed that I am feeling weaker than I used to. I have also had persistent sore throats.
I will add that I do not work out (haven't in a few months) so there is no reason my muscles should be sore. Anyways, my shoulder hurts the worst. Again, no bruising and it doesn't appear to be a knot or anything (or at least I can't find it). Now I have neck pain on the same side as the bad shoulder which started a few days ago. It's like it's adding a new spot every day or so. My lower back is now starting to mildly hurt. Am I being paranoid or could there be something wrong?
The day after the accident I was very sore, my neck and lower back hurt. Now I'm a mess my lower back is killing me ( the pain is close to my hip on the right side so I'm not sure where the pain is coming from exactly), it's mild but deep pain and my right leg is a bit bruised and hurts a lot (mild but pain that feels like it's coming from deep inside). My left arm hurts too like my leg. they keep me up at night even though it's not severe pain.
I will see osteopath twice more. He showed me a photo of my back and I have a very big hollow, and my muscles were in spasm, and although his manipulation hurt it freed up the tightness. We all get arthritis as we age, as we cannot stop the wear and tear. Like you, I do not like taking too many pain killers. I think it best to keep moving, and not lie around too much. Muscles then weaken and will not support spine. My doctor said this week it is important to strengthen muscles.
Avoid a pillow. Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping on the back and between head and shoulder when lying on the side. Initially this will be uncomfortable but with time the acupressure will work. Use an analgesic cream or spray. Anti-inflammatory drugs help. Also, you must improve your posture while sitting and working. Take care!
She says she has been tested for everything including HIV and all came back negative. Around September 8th I started to feel my neck swell up. I could feel it on both sides pretty good. The weekend I had the sex with her involved heavy drinking for about four straight days and little sleep. I didn't think anything of this neck swelling until Septemeber 13, when I developed a sore throat that was pretty painful but seems ok now. The weekend of Sept 9-12 also included heavy drinking.
Then I tried a similar ab machine and the next day I suffered with a sore neck. Went back to the gym and stayed away from the 2nd ab machine and stuck with the 1st one. Went to the gym the next day and used my regular ab machine. This time I had no stomach strength, like I couldn't crunch with any weights at all. My stomach felt very strange. So I took 2 weeks off to let my "stomach muscles" heal.
I have always been an anxiety ridden person, but here recently I have been clenching my teeth a lot more and I think it is causing the back of my tounge and the front parts of my throat to be sore but not like a sick sore really like a muscle strain sore. I carry a lot of anxiety in my neck and shoulders and I do find myself clenching my jaw quite a bit anymore, but I am now thinking that my tounge and throat muscles are now tensing up.
Right after surgery I had a bad sore throat (lasted a week) due to the breathing tube they used during surgery and also had a drain coming from the incision (drain removed after 3 days), a sore neck, but no pain coming from the incision. I had swelling above the incision and I had difficulty swallowing for a few months which got better and better with time, until the swelling above the incision went down. Still have very slight swelling.
I have had early in the mornings sore neck muscles, palpitation, tremor and sweating. I have no sweating during daytime. I don't know whether these are due to overmedication (Thyroid Erfa) or undermedication. I am hypercalcemic. The neck muscles are also weak and stiff when I have those other symptoms. Ihave also a slightly enlarged lymph nodule(?) in the neck. The parathyroids were not seen in MRI scannin for parathyroids. I have a lung tumour (not specified what it is).
I have a constant stiff neck and soreness in my neck and back. The mattress I sleep on is bad and I am not sure if its from that or another cause, just tired of it always being sore. I am also wondering why I can sometimes see my heart beating in the front of my neck...its sort of like the muscles move up and down to my hearbeat and if this could mean something else or its just a weird phenomenon.
The middle of my back feels like its broken, exp. when I try to bend over backwards. My bottom of my neck and shoulders have always been stiff for as long as I can remember too. My arms get sore and so does my legs. I am sick of complaining to my doctor. I have been diagnosed with TMJD, Myalgia and Myositis. Lyrica did not do too much, I felt good for a bit but not my muscles. They changed me to another muscle relaxant, but I do not feel the full benefits. Could I have a back or head injury?
I was passed around to different physiotherapists when the one that was working on me gave up. The muscles on the left side of my back and shoulder began to shrink a little, so that when I stood in the mirror and compared shoulders, my left shoulder was much less than my right. I did stretches every day (still do) that relates to different areas of my back and neck, I used heat backs, muscle creams, used magnetic bed underlays and special pillows to help myself, to no avail.
This started about 1 year ago also, but went away after about 3-4 weeks at that time. But now I've had this for 3 months persistently. And, my neck, shoulder and arm muscles are getting much more sore too, and perhaps somewhat weaker, though I was told that I do not have muscle disease. Sometimes, my right jaw area seems in some pain (like a burning sensation) and swollen now, which did not happen before.
Whenever my boyfriend drinks alcohol, his neck muscles get sore and painful. It generally lasts around 10 minutes. It doesn't take a lot for the symptoms to start and when he drinks, he doesn't get tipsy or drunk. Google only seems to give answers about cancer but these are his neck muscles, not his lymph nodes. Anyone experience something similar or have any input? Thanks!
My husband has been rubbing my shoulders every day and the knots are so deep and so big that it hurts his hands to rub them for any great length of time. Besides my shoulders my lower back and neck hurt as well. I have not done anything to hurt myself, so I'm wondering if this is ms related. I hate contributing any kind of pain or problem to ms, so I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem? Ibprophen (sp) doesn't help and some nights it hurts so bad that I can't sleep.
I turned my head today and got a really bad pain in the right side of my neck I can turn it to the left no problem but not to the right I cant even straighten my head I cant tilt it up or down I can only hold it slightly to the left within 20 minutes my right shoulder abd jalf way down my back on the right side was really sore and my right arm down to my elbow was so sore I cant even lift my arm and have no strength in it. And being so close to Christmas im on holiday and cant ho to the doctor.
I've had sore shoulder muscles for the past couple of weeks, and I have a job where I do a lot of computer work, so I am sitting quite a bit.
Keep your shoulders rotated down and back, elbows slightly bent and palms facing slightly forward, as if your elbows were sliding into the top of your back pockets. You will feel the tension dissipate from your shoulder and back muscles, neck and spine. Your lower back will also be protected. Whenever you catch yourself in a slump just correct. Hope this helps!
I too have very sore rib cage along with upper chest, neck, shoulders (front and back) and upper and mid back. Has your heart been checked with an EKG during a painful time? All symptoms should be checked and not assumed to be FMS symptoms. If your Dr. doesn't take things seriously-find another. RA drs. are usually the best choice. Try heat (warm) to sooth muscles, take ibeprophen (Advil) if you can, for inflamation.
