Could these vitamins be causing the smell? I also drink a good amount of beer, hence all of the vitamins. Could that be a cause as well? Please help! I am a very clean and scent oriented person with no health insurance! This is very upsetting for me! Thank you.

This is due to the presence of B1 in Powerade. B vitamins especially B1 have been known to cause this odor in urine when in excess and has to be expelled from the bottom via bladder. Also via sweat glands in some cases.

Does anyone know the difference between over the counter Prenatal Vitamins (DHA) or prescriptions Prenatal? I can get the pills over the counter or the one's my dr's nurse recommended at $60 for a months supply.

Hi there, There are several causes of strong odor in the urine. If you are on Vitamin supplements especially Vitamin B supplements urine can have a strong odor. Also in some medical conditions like diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, urine does have a strong odor. Do increase your daily intake of water to around 8-10 glasses a day and see if the smell decreases. Also do let me know if you have any other medical condition or have any other symptoms beside this.

This is normal with B vitamins. You will notice this happens if you use nutrtional yeast, too.

Everyday my vagina has a urine smell. It has become a huge deal in my relationship b/c every time my boyfriend goes down on me he is disgusted by the smell. Every single day i have a white discharge as well not alot but enough to make it come out on my underwear. How do i get rid of this urine smell? Vitamins should not cause one to smell differently. What sort of vitamins are you taking? Beyond vitamins, some supplements can cause an odor such as with garlic capsules, but usually those are deodorized. So, are you taking vitamins and/or some other supplements?

I'm having some serious viginal odor over here...my boyfriend and I haven't had sex since I had a pap smear the beginning of my pregnancyand the odor just came outta know where like last wk! I jknow this cannot be normal...

Also vitamins b-6 and b-12 to help with fatigue. And they also sell a med OTC at Walmart called restless legs u can take before bed that will help with the legs at night also and as always get ya a good multi vitamin.

I just started on Januvia this week. I take many meds and vitamins, but the terrible odor of my urine just started the day after my first dose of 50mg Januvia. My urine smells worse than my cat's and very similar, ammonia perhaps? I'm going to mention it to my Diabetic educator and doctor and see what they say.

There an awful lot of them that might help. I'd recommend you find a holistic nutritionist for help with this. They'll help to make you as strong as they can, and with so many things to choose from and not knowing what meds you might be taking, they can help with the trial and error of finding what works. Diet is also very important for this particular problem, more so than supplements.

I too have this smoky odor problem.Usually it comes from my hands and my face..Mine is an oily skin.My skin looks healthy otherwise..I have undergone Liver and kidney tests and the reports came out fine.. Any idea on how to find skin conditions which causes this yeast odor on skin.

MAKE SURE TO TAKE VITAMIN B-12, MULTI-VIT, VIT-C, CALCIUM (NOT AT THE SAME TIME AS C OR THE C WILL KILL THE CALCIUM), MAGNESIUM. I AM TAKING FOLIC ACID WITH B-12. I WOULD MAKE SURE THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU BY LOOKING IT UP ON LINE, IT'S PROBABLY OK!

Cat, Try to load up on gatorade & bananas as well. DOnt know about the 5HTP, but Vit B, C and Calcium has helped me with the leg stuff. Stay the course!

But it is very treatable and not an STD it is the second most common issue women have next to yeast infections. it can also cause slight irritation during sex, can cause darkening of urine with the odor. Unfortunetly I get it on a regular basis and Doctors can't explain why. try acidpophulis which is found in most health food stores, and in some stores with the vitamins.
