Azithromycin yeast infections

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin yeast infections

zithromax

Alot of antibiotics will cause yeast infections. I've never heard of them causing miscarriage tho.
If someone here who has used azithromycin to battle Lyme and Bart could help comfort me in my decision to continue with the azithromycin therapy that would be great. Below are my concerns: I am still confused as to whether or not I am experiencing adverse drug effects or a 'herx.' It is difficult to know because this disease has literally affected every tissue in my body. However, there are a couple things that make me suspicious of a drug allergy/adverse effect. 1.
The azithromycin regimen you describe has not bee studied against chlamydia, but almost certainly it would be just as effective as single dose treatment, probably even more effective. The treatment is effective in eradicating chlamydia within a few days. There is no drug in the world that alters the effectiveness of azithromycin against chlamydia. Your minor symptoms do not suggest chlamydia or any STD. Many things can cause vaginal area itch and discharge.
first of all this is defiantly not my first yeast infection, i am having yeast infections since i was 14. but this time i've got 2 vaginal yeast infections one before my last month period taking into consideration that i was on Azithromycin antibiotic, and the other yeast infection is right now and i have 3 days left to my period...lately I've had a surgery and been on a course of antibiotics plus i am taking hormone pills "Bellara".
My worries is that if this was a yeast infection it is the 4 time I get it. And I had never before that had any yeast infections. Could it be that its my current boyfriend? Because before him I had a boyfriend and i was with him for 3 years. We broke up and now i've with my current boyfriend for 7 months and its been since then that I've had these irritations.
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. Yeast infections do not cause the symptoms you describe. You clearly had acute urethritis, i.e. gonorrhea, chlamydia, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). And the urgent care clinic obviously agreed: they treated you with the recommended drugs for all three of these (ceftriaxone--the shot--for gonorrhea and azithromycin for chlamydia and NGU).
I, all at once, took 4 out of 4 pills of Azithromycin 250mg tablets on 3/14 for the Chlamydia treatment and had diarrhea for a week. A week after (3/21) I got a little sick (light headed for 3 days) and my urethra was sensitive but I thought these were side effects. Now it is 4/7, my urethra is still a little sensitive (including just below the opening), warm, and my throat is now slightly sore and dry. I have no other symptoms and no discharge (but I am not circumcised so it is hard to tell).
I went to the doctor and gave a urine sample and a swab was taken. He presribed Cerfixme and Azithromycin 3 days ago but my condition seems to have gotten worse.Could this be a yeast infection? Can i be tested for that?Or could it be something else? What should i do?
I try to ejaculate 3-4 times per week, semen volume is now back to normal (i think) Fluconozole seems to do something when I have my flare ups, and things go back to normal for a month or two, though I dont really have any symptoms of a yeast infection. Wondering if its a yeast in my prostate? I've not been on any anti-biotics since May and it's August now. I'm just really frustrated at dealing with this for the better part of the last year. Any ideas or tips on how to reduce prostatitis?
I have type 2 diabetes and have had problems with yeast infections related to high blood sugar. Is it possible that the Trich result and my yeast infection could be related? A year ago in the beginning of our relationship we had a similar problem which we were both given a z-pack even though I tested positive for nothing. Needless to say I am confused.
Additionally before any of this I was prescribed a months worth of doxycycline and then the week of the incident i was taking a z-pack (azithromycin). My dad said he thought maybe i just had a male yeast infection from all the antibiotics My questions - Is it likely I have herpes? I heard its not very common to catch it from oral sex, but possible. Is it likely I have HIV?
) and Ureaplasma (UU) infections (UU would not go away with several different antibiotics until I took Azithromycin but then came back and is still present because the antibiotic now makes me ill and my dr says the UU is just normal now and colonized and refuses to prescribe any other antibiotics).
are we suffering from yeast infections/varying pH levels due to estrogen level imbalances? peace to all...and let's FIGURE THIS OUT!

I have never had yeast infections until now. A few months ago I thought I was having a reaction to the new pads I was using. My vagina was swollen and red, slightly itchy; no discharge the second day after my period started. After days of suffering, I went to the Dr. who said it probably was the pads. He said he didn't see any yeast but took a culture just to be sure. They called and said I had a VERY bad yeast infection. This time I started feeling similar to the last time.
I freaked out the next day and took 1g of Zithromax just to be safe. I never had any syptoms..and still dont. Well, I had sex with my wife a few days later and about 5 days later, she developed a horrible yeast infection. She got a little better, then we had sex 2 nights ago and now its returned. She has been on Doxyclycline 100mg for 11 days, and she still feels very uncomfortable. itching mostly. She called the doctor and he told her to come in.
So I went to the Pharmacy and got a Monistat 1 day treatment pack and inserted it. I have had yeast infections before from taking antibiotics, but this is the worst, most painful I have ever had.
Diagnosed as NSU and over next three months it kept recurring despite abstaining from sex and being treated with Azithromycin 1 dose, Doxycycline 1 week, Erythromycin + Metronidazole 1 week, and lastly Azithromycin again for 5 days. My wife was treated with Azitheromycin large single dose and then 4 days. All tests to isolate organism were negative. I was told to stop looking so closely and it, at last, cleared in January.

antibiotics will definitely give you yeast infections.. the only antibiotic i can take is azithromycin (z-pac) im allergic to all the others.. ask your doctor what would be best for you to use to help clear it up!
If needed a throat culture will show the growth and the antibiotics to which the pathogens are most susceptible to. During culture it would be worthwhile to test for yeast infections also besides bacterial infections. Viral infections are by exclusion and do not need any antibiotic therapy unless there are superadded infections. Viral infections are known to cause canker sores. The antibiotic of choice for a streptococcal infection is penicillin but azithromycin is also effective.
I have a pack of 3 azithromycin tablets at 500mg each to be taken in 3 daily doses. I was wondering if I took the antibiotic on the 3 day cycle, would it rid me of these diseases if I do in fact have them? Thank you for your time!
Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections. Other known pathogens causing infections of the throat are viral and yeast (candida). The antibiotic of choice for a streptococcal infection is penicillin but azithromycin is also effective. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
After receiving oral sex from a sex-worker in Asia my wife got signs of yeast infection and complained about pain during sex. The yeast infection dissapeared after a few days. About 2 weeks later I discovered a few drops of clear discharge from my penis now and then. I also noted that the tip of the penis was a little red. I was tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea both with negative result. Now 6 weeks after the "incident" I have a VERY sticky (like glue?
Hello. So I had chlamydia around 7 or 8 weeks ago. I took a dosage of azithromycin to fix it. I abstained until this weekend when I wanted to have sex with my boyfriend. I did have a yeast infection a couple weeks prior (i get them easily) i tried to treat it with monistat but im not sure it went completely away. After having sex my lips were red and my vagina stings.
no, men can also get yeast infections....... Also, zithromax works for 5 days after taking the meds...... Go back to the doctor if symptoms persist.
you need to give it a week and things should get better. if they don't, return to be retested for vaginal infections like yeast and bacterial infections.
I was treated with 2 500mg tablets of Azithromycin and sent home. About a month later I was still showing symptoms so I was again treated with the same 2 500mg tablets of Azithromycin. I had unprotected sex about 4-5 days after taking the antibiotics and since then I have felt fine. Recently, it has started to slightly sting during sex (still with the same partner I had sex with after the second treatment). We have both stayed within the relationship, so no outside sources.
you really need to go and be seen today or tomorrow and have these checked out. you need tested for yeast and bacterial vaginal infections, chlamydia and gonorrhea. if the provider thinks that these look like herpes, they can culture them for you. was pregnancy covered?
All STDs are "pretty rare" from oral sex -- but among them, gonorrhea is among the most common. Also, the incubation period of "less than a week" is more in favor of gonorrhea than NGU or chlamydia. But this is a soft call at best; I'm not at all certain about it. Azithromycin 2g would be effective against both gonorrhea and NGU/PGU. Vaginal yeast infections are common in women who take broad spectrum antibiotics (like levofloxacin) but are rare in men.
