Avatar f tn 2%) had a positive TOC following treatment with stat azithromycin. The risk of re-infection was excluded in two, identifying nine of the 11 (81.8%) as treatment failures. Two patients had a positive TOC following treatment with 1 week of doxycycline, both were found to have a risk of re-infection. There was a significantly higher treatment failure rate in patients receiving azithromycin (p=0.0025). The site claims that a regimen of one week of doxycycline has a success rate of 98.8%.
Avatar n tn current recommendations are you get the shot of ceftriaxone and oral azithromycin at the same time if you test + for gonorrhea. the 2 gm dose of azithromycin alone is only helpful for chlamydia at this point, not gonorrhea. if you were given just oral treatment for gonorrhea, you are supposed to retest any time after 1 week post treatment to see if it was effective or not. why does it fail?
Avatar f tn m wondering how long it usually takes for the azithromycin to clear it out? Is it possible that even with 4 doses of the doxy and the 1 gram of azithromycin, I still have it? Is it easy to reinfect yourself (without sex) through things like underwear or sex toys? Or is the chlamydia gone and my body is just working on returning to normal? I will be going to get retested, the doctor said to wait a few weeks. But until, I won't really know, so I wanted to know if anyone knew.
Avatar n tn I just received my chlamydia treatment in the form of 4 tablets to be taken in one dose of Azithromycin. I starting menstruating today and I didnt know if there would be any reason this would affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also my partner was just treated yesterday...How long before we can resume having sex?
Avatar f tn He got tested and he was positive for Chlamydia. I went to my Gynecologist and she treated me for Chlamydia because I never had any type of STD ever. I took the Azithromycin last week Wednesday and a few days later I am experiencing an odor. I have had BV before so I know what’s that’s like but a STD I don’t know what to expect or what is next. Can someone tell me do I need to be treated for BV even if the Azithromycin is still working in my body.
Avatar n tn The treatment for coinfection with both gononrrhoeae and Chlamydia is Azithromycin. It should work for both. Did you have an injection? However, some GC strains are very resistant. It would be good to get retested in about 6 weeks to make sure you are clear from both.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago, I was given one dose of 1g azithromycin that helped (pain when urinating gone). Last week, since they also found chlamydia in my anus, I was again prescribed doxycycline (2x100g) for 7 days. However, the clinic made a mistake and only gave me 12 (instead of 14) 100g tablets that make my treatment will only lasts 6 days. The thing is I really can't pick up the extra tablets as the clinic is out of town and I am working full time and going abroad in 2 days.
Avatar f tn I am goingt o wait on his results to know rule it out for sure. I have already taken then 1g Azithromycin for chlamydia, I was hoping not to have to take it again as I was rather ill from it.
Avatar n tn At the time you were both treated for chlamydia, as I understand it, she did not have the PID syndrome which is associated with lower abdominal pain. Azithromycin has not been studied for PID treatment. For her to develop new symptoms due to infection after treatment is not a circumstance we see clinically.
Avatar m tn 0 gram dose of azithromycin (which is long-acting and actually gives over a week of effective treatment); or doxycycline, usually 100 mg twice daily for a week. These cover chlamydia as well as nonchlamydial NGU." Dr. HHH And you should already know that since you posted in that thread.
Avatar m tn - December 12th – Partner submits urine for Chlamydia trachomatis NAAT after 19 days since completing Azithromycin 1 Gram Dose treatment with no sexual contact of any kind. - December 14th – Partner’s test reults: • Chlamydia trachomatis NAAT – Negative - December 16th – Patient’s symptoms continue with one day remaining (two (2) Doxycycline Hyclate 100 Mg Capsules) for treatment.
Avatar f tn Tested positive for chlamydia, started Azithromycin 1g first and my partner started the same treatment the next day. Two days after taking the medication I gave my partner unprotected oral sex. What are my chances that I still have chlamydia? Do I need to get another round of treatment? And when do the symptoms go away?
Avatar n tn I was researching Trichomoniasis online and one website mentioned that Azithromycin is one treatment for it. Since I was given Azithromycin for the Chlamydia, would this have also cured the Trichomoniasis as well? If not, is there any way a doctor would prescribe me the Trichomoniasis medication without testing? I have read that a swab test is needed to diagnose Trichomoniasis, and I've heard swab testing is incredibly painful so I'd like to avoid that if possible.
Avatar m tn I plan to go get re-tested for chlamydia. Should I ask for a swab or urine test? It seems as though Azithromycin failed me at least once so far (no intercourse throughout all this). Will an STD clinic try a different medication or should I seek a private doctor? The symptoms have lingered which is very bothersome. Please advise what my action plan should be for testing and which medication(s) regiments I could suggest. Thank you very much.
Avatar m tn He directed us to take two 250mg tablets once daily for three days. Will this cure chlamydia or should I take a higher dosage? Would it hurt to take four pills (1000 mg) to treat the infection and would this be a better dosage alternative? Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn I am a 19 year old female. My doctor prescribed me 500mg Azithromycin for 3 days. But everywhere I am reading says I’m supposed to take 1g of Azithromycin which was not what I was prescribed. I got retested after 6 days and I’m still positive. I haven’t had sex since being positive the first time. Can anyone help?????
Avatar m tn Hi guys. So story goes, my partner and I tested positive for chlamydia nearly 2 weeks ago, and received Azithromycin (single dose 1g) and told to refrain from sexual activity for 1 week to prevent reinfection. We failed and had sex 3 days after. I know, pretty stupid and we know it - so lesson learned.
Avatar f tn Recently tested positive for chlamydia. My only symptom was sex during sex in certain positions in the pelvic/stomach area. I was treated with 4 pills of single dose azithromycin 2 days ago and I forgot to mention the pain. I am scared I have pelvic inflammatory disease. Would chlamydia treatment treat that? Would I even have PID?
Avatar m tn I just tested positive for chlamydia & I was given the powder (azithromycin) as treatment. I drank it with a full bottled water (16 oz.) & come to find out I was only supposed to drink it with 2 oz. should I worry? What should I do?
Avatar n tn Azithromycin is not recommended treatment for gonorrhea. It is for chlamydia and it can take anywhere from 24 hours to a few weeks for all symptoms to subside. It depends on the person being treated and how their body responds to treatment as well as how far the infection has progressed.
Avatar m tn The doses of azithromycin studies for treatment of chlamydia, NGU, and gonorrhea have been studied when the medication is taken as single doses. Thus, questions about doses taken at lower doses and on different schedules is difficult to answer and require estimation of their effectiveness as opposed to answers based firmly on scientific studies.
