Avatar m tn I took azithromycin single dose of 1g yesterday for diagnosed Chlamydia. Would it hurt me to take a 2g does the following day to cover the possibility of gonnorhea? It wasnt diagnosed but since I have the medicine here, I wanted to take it to really cover my bases but didnt want to overdose or anything. I wish I would have just taken a single 2g dose the first day.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with mild NGU although I am still waiting for my Chlamydia and Gonorrhea results. I have been given one single dose of azithromycin (1 g) . It has been four days now, and when i urinate there is still a burning sensation. I have not had any discharge at all. Before (Hours before) I have the burning feeling when I urinate, I also have a feeling of pressure/pain at my pelvis. 1.
Avatar m tn Soon after azithromycin was released, it was shown that taking a Z-pack, consisting of 500 mg on day one, followed by several days of 250 mg per day was slightly less effective than a single 1.0 gram dose. You took considerably more, The odds are very high that this sort of dosing is just as effective as a single 1.0 gram dose. If you were symptomatic and your symptoms co away, I would not worry further. Similarly, if your infection was asymptomatic, I would not worry further either.
Avatar m tn yes, have been reading up on this and the 1.0gram dose of azithromycin recommended in one single dose. I actually did take this myself on Friday, but my partner who did not listen to the instructions on dosage, took the above mentioned dosage. So basically, 1.0grams in a 8hr window, followed by 250mg 24 hrs later and 250mg 24 hrs later to that. I still feel a tiny bit tingling feeling and can see a slight discharge.
Avatar n tn It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.
Avatar m tn I was treated with single dose of 1g azithromycin and 800 mg cerfixime. I ingested the medication under nurse supervision, however, I was warned I may experience some degree of stomach upset. Approximately 2.5 hours after ingesting the medication and whilst experiencing some mild stomach burning sensations, I suffered a bout of painless but voluminous diarrhoea. My main concern is, have I received a sufficient dose of the drugs, or have they mostly passed through me?
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with anal chlamydia, and was issued a single dose of azithromycin. I read the following on medscape.com: Results: 11 patients (26.2%) had a positive TOC following treatment with stat azithromycin. The risk of re-infection was excluded in two, identifying nine of the 11 (81.8%) as treatment failures. Two patients had a positive TOC following treatment with 1 week of doxycycline, both were found to have a risk of re-infection.
Avatar m tn t clear. Treatment with cefixime 400 mg (you did get the dose correct) plus 1.0 gram of azithromycin as a single dose is the CDC recommended therapy for gonorrhea and would reliable cure chlamydia as well. To my knowledge there are no 1.0 gram azithromycin pills and if there were it would be like swallowing a large marble (ugh!!!). All four of the azithromycin pills should be taken at about the same time. does this clear things up?
Avatar m tn I know, pretty stupid and we know it - so lesson learned. So we purchased Azithromycin (single dose 1g) off Superdrugs online doctor and took a second dose exactly 1 week following our initial dose (we informed the sexual health clinic when they phoned to confirm our positive result and they agreed with taking the medicine again). I'm now 5 days into the second dose, without sex albeit I have masturbated to curb the appetite and I still have a mild, clear discharge at the tip of my penis.
Avatar n tn efficacy of the 2 gram single dose of azithromycin? Is this still an effective regiment for gonorrhea and / or chlamydia, NGU, etc.? Are there particular cases or reasons for the patients where this treatment has started to fail? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I recently tested positive for chlamydia. I got a 1g single dose of azithromycin and so did my boyfriend. I took my pills on Wednesday (today is Saturday) and he took his on Thursday. This morning we masturbated together. I touched myself primarily and he touched himself, but he did touch my vagina at one point. And I touched his penis. Tried to stay clear of precum. WE DID NOT HAVE SEX. I washed my hands immediately before. And I washed them after. Just concerned about hand-genital risk.
Avatar f tn While being treated for chlamydia would a single dose of azithromycin also cure syphilis? My gyno won’t test for it but I’m paranoid. Just wondering if I still really need to worry about it.
Avatar f tn Doctor immediately put me on Metronidazole and single dose of Azithromycin. Before I started the treatments, there was white discharge and fishy odor but no urge to constantly pee even after I had just emptied my bladder. After treatments, the discharge and odor has gone away but I now have a constant urge to pee and when I go to pee it’s very little and there is very slight burning. Is it possible that the azithromycin didn’t work or is this possibly a UTI?
Avatar n tn I contracted chlamydia from my ONE sexually partner and my doctor prescribed a single dose of azithromycin and i wanted to know would that medication also get rid of the infection if I contracted it orally? This discussion is related to chlamydia and azithromycin.
Avatar m tn I got infected about 3 weeks ago with Gonorrhea of the throat i had a mild sore throat and just thought it was tonsillitis since i suffer from it a lot i just went to a STD clinic and told me i have Gonorrhea in the throat and since i am extremely allergic to penicillin they gave me 2 gm of Azithromycin to take in a single dose which i did today. Now, since yesterday i have been experiencing some joint discomfort and sever non-stop tingling all over my body. My question is could this be DGI?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to take Azithromycin single dose powder with water (chlamdyia medicine) I think the taste of the medicine with be awful with water. Does anybody know if it will still work with a Gatorade or Jucie???
Avatar f tn Still freaking out on Tuesday, I googled more and saw where recommened dose was 2 grams in a single dose. I took 2, 1000 mg pills immediately. The chancre seems to be fading, but Im still freaking out. Will the amount of Azitromycin ive taken cure or stop any progression of any STDs? Im married and hope i have not unknowingly given anything to my spouse. This will cause a divorce for sure!
Avatar m tn Would the azithromycin clear up eith NGU or gonorrhea? I have read that a single dose of 2g is recommended and I am taking 1.5 g over 5 days. 3. If the azithromycin would not be sufficient to clear anything up, should I wait to be tested? In other words, could the antibiotic have an impact on test results? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Thanks Aj, my concern was that a 500mg dose twice a day wouldn't be as strong as a single 1g dose. Does your advice mean that the dosage I was prescribed should be sufficient, i.e. 2 x 500mg doses per day for 3 days, rather than 1 x 1g dose?
Avatar m tn If that is indeed the case, then it would seem that the recommended treatment from CDC for gonorrhea (a single shot of ceftriaxone with a single dose of azithromycin) actually would take care of gonorrhea, chlamydia AND syphilis?
Avatar m tn - How effective are the antibiotics usually prescribed for the treatment of chlamydia – specifically, Azithromycin 1 Gram (Single Powdered Dose mixed with two (2) ounces of water) and Doxycycline Hyclate (100 Mg Capsules – Administered twice per day for seven (7) days)? - How common is it that chlamydia symptoms persist during and after antibiotic treatment(s)? (Assume that both treatments were completed with strict adherence of clinical instruction).
