Azithromycin pak

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin pak

zithromax

Avatar n tn Welcome to the STD forum. Taking treatment without being tested is not the best strategy. But now that you have taken 1.0 g of azithromycin (Z-pak), you don't need any more treatment. As you already know, that dose would cure chlamydia if you had been infected. As for gonorrhea, you really don't need additional treatment at all. First, gonorrhea of the penis almost always causes obvious symptoms, i.e. pus dripping from the penis -- and the symptoms always begin within 2-5 days.
Avatar n tn I've had a fever between 100.5-101.8 over the last two days, burning urination, blood in urine, slight fatigue at night, and no other symptoms. I just began taking an unused Z-pak I've had. I know this could be chlamydia, gonorrhea, and or UTI. 1) Will Z-pak help? 2) What other drug/dosage is commonly prescribed for UTIs?
1418572 tn?1285957661 A nurse practitioner gave me Azithromycin 250mg pak generic for zithromax 250 z-pak. My neck did feel funny and got stiffer from taking it. I took it for 5 days which ended on the 7th. But my lymph is still swollen. So I took an hiv test on the 13th which is 11 days from when I felt the swollen lymph. (the test was clearview hiv1/2 complete. It was a finger prick. It also came back negative.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the STD forum. HIV test results are completely reliable within 6-8 weeks after exposure, so your negative test results at 67 days prove you didn't catch HIV. (There wasn't much chance of getting infected anyway. It is the rare stripper who has HIV.) And no medicines have any effect on HIV test results -- and certainly common antibiotics like azithromycin (Z-pak) don't do so. I see no need for any further testing.
Avatar f tn im 8 weeks pregnant and was giving a perscription for azithromycin for a bacterial infection is this harmful to my baby? when i take it each day i get really sick and tired what shouuld i do to make sure me and the baby are both healthy?
Avatar n tn My test came back positive abnormal for Chlamydia. I was able to get a prescription for Azithromycin and according to the CDC, 1g orally is the recommended dose. As such, I took 4 pills of the Z-Pak tonight (four 250mg tablets). I am planning to take the remaining two tablets over the course of the next two days. Will this cure chlamydia and did I do this right?
Avatar f tn About a week after the event, I camed down with an upper respiratory infection and was prescribed a Z Pak. I was to take the first 2 pill the first night, a total of 500 mg and 250 mg for the following four days. My question is... do you think that is effective against eliminating Gonnorhea if I were to have it? And what other STD's could this take care of?
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Agree with the above suggestion that taking a random antibiotic will not help with any infection. The commonest pathogen (agent) causing throat infections is a group A Streptococcus bacteria. Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections. Other known pathogens causing infections of the throat are viral and yeast (candida).
1067297 tn?1255030564 Flagyl and biaxin worked well for my.. doxy, not so much. Plaquenil & Z-Pak is a newer protocol docs are using (well at least up here in canada, everyone knows how ignorant the canadian health care system is towrd lyme).. good luck!
Avatar f tn Is "Zpack" azithromycin? I've been pulsing Zith since Feb., and it's still effective in me. I started pulsing Tindamax last week and barely made it through my 1st pulse as it hit me pretty hard. I resume it on Monday. I've been on and off plaquenil a couple of time during my treatment. The first time I tried it it was way too much for me. I recently did a shourt course of it with much more mild Herxing, a good sign that I'm much better than I was before.
Avatar m tn Even if your partner is infected, the chance of STD or HIV transmission is low for any particular exposure. And your azithromycin (Z pak) treatment would reliably prevent most treatable STDs, including all chlamydia, almost all gonorrhea, and probably all nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). Some syphilis is resistant to azithromycin, but heterosexually transmitted syphilis is rare in this situation.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have that bad cold but not sure how this med will make me feel, i have taken a few that gives me panic attacks so has anyone takenz-pack azithromycin and if so did it cause heartpaps or nerves thank you
Avatar n tn I had become ill with a winter respiratory infection and went to my PCP who prescribed azithromycin. The Z-Pak nailed in the infection but at the same time, my PVC's vanished. I mentioned this to my PCP on a followup visit, and he claims there is no connection.
Avatar m tn Hello, I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections. Thank you. This has been a very helpful and informative forum.
Avatar m tn Continuing pain despite yet another course of azithromycin: Still stronger evidence against STD. Subsequent improvement (but then not so much) on ciprofloxacin: There is no STD that responds to cipro but not azithro and doxy. Theoretically gonorrhea could do that, but there are many other reasons to be confident gonorrhea was not the problem. My guess is that no infection of any kind is the problem here.
5915949 tn?1396188227 I think that's your personal judgment call, most women are willing to take a catagory A or B. I did not take a z-pack, but I took azithromycin & it is also category B. Do the benefits outweigh the risks?
Avatar n tn became very worried and upset since i have had unprotected sex with giirlfreind 3 days after taking z-pak. now she has slight discharge after sex slight odor no itching or burning but very frequent urination. I have slight itching around head of penis no discharge or pain.
Avatar m tn So my doc wants to play it safe and wants me to take azithromycin for a possible chlamydia infection our a non n specific urethritis... So I was suppose to take 4 pils in one shot (1000 g) however what I did was take two pills (500mg) at like 6 pm and then took the other two at like 1 am... I messed up and and that's yt the time elapseds the way itdid.so my question is if those 6 hrs elapsed does it mean now I'm screwed cuz they weren't taken in one ****?
Avatar n tn Is it possible that this is an STD, or did I just coincidentally catch a flu/cold? I have an old Z-Pak I never used from being sick last winter that I started taking today ( I know I shouldn't play doctor)... but would It make sense to take it now? If it is an STD, would azithromycin in this dosage regimen help? As a possibly related question, I drank a big gulp of coffee that was too hot on Sunday (yesterday) and burned my esophagus and have had a sore throat since then.
Avatar n tn The z pak is Azithromycin that is a macrolide-type antibiotic and is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections by stopping the growth of bacteria. Azithromycin will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu. If you have been prescribed with this antibiotic by your doctor, it is likely that you were prescribed this medication because the doctor was of the opinion that you have a chest infection or a upper respiratory tract infection, or both.
Avatar m tn m somewhat skeptical about your positive gonorrhea and chlamydia tests, by the way. If I understand correctly, you were given azithromycin (Z-Pak) early on, then had the positive tests a few weeks later. Azithromycin is highly reliable against chlamydia and pretty good against gonorrhea; it would be quite unusual for either one to persist after such treatment. It can happen, but you might discuss this with your doctor -- e.g.
Avatar n tn I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems. by H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D., Jun 11, 2007 12:00AM Directly to your questions: 1) Both azithromycin and penicillin are 100% effective in curing incubating syphilis.
Avatar f tn Did you have that test? Your doctor could try a z pak (azithromycin) to see if it helps. The other possibility is adenovirus but I doubt that one. You've been checked for a UTI, right?
