I took azithromycin single dose of 1g yesterday for diagnosed Chlamydia. Would it hurt me to take a 2g does the following day to cover the possibility of gonnorhea? It wasnt diagnosed but since I have the medicine here, I wanted to take it to really cover my bases but didnt want to overdose or anything. I wish I would have just taken a single 2g dose the first day.

I have recently been diagnosed with mild NGU although I am still waiting for my Chlamydia and Gonorrhea results. I have been given one single dose of azithromycin (1 g) . It has been four days now, and when i urinate there is still a burning sensation. I have not had any discharge at all. Before (Hours before) I have the burning feeling when I urinate, I also have a feeling of pressure/pain at my pelvis.

Is it normal / considered not dangerous to take Azithromycin 2g one week after taking Ciprofloxcin 500mg twice a day over 10 days. I am currently in a current with low medical standards, so I rather double check before following the doctors medication instructions.
yes, have been reading up on this and the 1.0gram dose of azithromycin recommended in one single dose. I actually did take this myself on Friday, but my partner who did not listen to the instructions on dosage, took the above mentioned dosage.
So basically, 1.0grams in a 8hr window, followed by 250mg 24 hrs later and 250mg 24 hrs later to that.
I still feel a tiny bit tingling feeling and can see a slight discharge.

Today, the 4th day after the encounter, I went to the clinic, described my symptoms, and was treated with one dose of 2g azithromycin (8 x 250mg) in case of gonorrhea as well, since I can't really wait for my test results to come back before I get treatment.

I was diagnosed with Chlamydia about a week ago. They gave me Azithromycin, 4 tablets at 250mg to take all at once. I took them and have severe stomach cramping and nausea, and ended up getting sick about 45 to an hour after taking the last pill... hoping that I would have already digested it before I got sick. The stomach pain lasted the rest of the day. It's been about 3 days now since I have taken it, but I still have that "burning" sensation after I urinate.
Still freaking out on Tuesday, I googled more and saw where recommened dose was 2 grams in a single dose. I took 2, 1000 mg pills immediately. The chancre seems to be fading, but Im still freaking out. Will the amount of Azitromycin ive taken cure or stop any progression of any STDs? Im married and hope i have not unknowingly given anything to my spouse. This will cause a divorce for sure!
It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.
The azithromycin you took was a lower dose than what is recommended for NGU. The recommended dose is 2.0 grams once. To be honest, I suspect that the azithromycin you took would cure NGU but it is appropriate to comment that you took less than the recommended dose. There are no data on what the outcome of a lower dose might be.

Treatment with cefixime 400 mg (you did get the dose correct) plus 1.0 gram of azithromycin as a single dose is the CDC recommended therapy for gonorrhea and would reliable cure chlamydia as well. To my knowledge there are no 1.0 gram azithromycin pills and if there were it would be like swallowing a large marble (ugh!!!). All four of the azithromycin pills should be taken at about the same time.

Day 3 I felt very nauseous and my diarrhoea came back, so then on Day 4 (today) I looked into the dosage more clearly, and realized its a one pop situation (1000mg one day) so I took my last two 250mg tablets.
Does anyone know if this will still work?
I have ordered more azithromycin (I will continue to travel and would hate to get stuck with travellers diarrhoea and no doctor or meds) should I retake the dosage (properly)?

I am asking this because almost all websites I see do not mention one dose Azithromycin as a treatment for PID. Instead they recommend longer term (10-14 days) of Doxycycline (which she is on now) or I saw one guideline that included Azithromycin but also for a two week period. That would be it for me.
