Avatar f tn 90 percent of UTI’s are from E. coli. D’Mannose attaches to E. coli in the urinary tract and takes it with it when you urinate. When I have a UTI I take one pill at least every 2 hours for about a week instead of having to take antibiotics nonstop. That doesn’t treat the cause, but deals with the infection part. Now, for the diagnosis. Have you looked into interstitial cystitis? It is a possibility.
Avatar f tn How do you tell the difference between a urinary tract infection and yeast infectiy?
Avatar n tn I had unprotected insertive vaginal intercourse with a woman 11 days ago. Approximately 9 days post-exposure, I began experiencing an urge to urinate frequently. The next day(10 days post exposure) the urge to urinate developed into a persistent burning sensation in my urethra (approximately the last inch or so near the urethral opening). Day 11 now, and the burning sensation inside urethra persists.
Avatar m tn On the other hand, Trimethoprim is neither used for NGU nor for other STDs (only for simple urinary tract infections). This means that they found some other bacteria in your urine. I think you should go back in 2 weeks (dead chlamydia organisms that may provide false positives are usually gone about 3 weeks after treatment) and ask for a total recheck (gonorrhea, chlam, NGU) and ask for explanations for the Trimethoprim (it was trimethoprim, right, not trimetoprim-sulfhamethoxazole?).
Avatar n tn Hi there. Actually, E.Coli is the most common cause of all urinary tract infections. It takes place often when someone has a bowel movement and wipes back to front rather than front to back. E coli then transfers to the uretha and gets into the urinary tract. She was on IV antibiotics so was in the hospital?
Avatar n tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. I think you are suffering from urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infections can occur due bacterial infections, fungal infections, sexually transmitted diseases etc. Cloudy urine can occur due to urinary tract infections, proteinuria, kidney or ureteral stones, infections to the kidney and in renal failure. Urinary tract infections cause burning sensation while passing urine, back pain, urethral discharge, fever, chills and blood in the urine.
Avatar n tn Cranberry juice helps fight off urinary tract infections, and sometimes can get rid of one that you already have, but it's best to go to the doctor and get it treated. Then drink cranberry juice to try to prevent bacteria from forming.
Avatar n tn Lemon and cranberry juice will help with urinary tract infections as a preventative in susceptible individuals but will not cure an active infection. Your dog's urine should really be checked for infection with a urinalysis. Please bring a fresh urine sample to your vet for analysis. You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Azithromycin is thought to be highly effective for treatment of chlamydial infection although one recent report has suggested that the treatment failure rate may be increasing slightly (despite this, the vast majority of chlamydial infections will still be successfully treated with azithromycin).
Avatar n tn itchiness is usually yeast, but the burning could be a urinary tract infection. is the burning internal or external???
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and he said it might be an infection of my urnairy tract system he prescribed me azithromycin 6 day medication. I think my anxiety is making it worst or overthinking. Does anyone feel the same?
Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I am a guy and I have been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. Specifically "Morganella Morganii." When the doctor told me she said the specific urinary tract infection I have is very rare in men and was "strange" I could get it. I have never had a urinary tract infection in my life. The timing of it seems odd as it comes only one week after I had sex with a female escort.
Avatar n tn Hi, I can understand your situation. Urinary tract infections are common in children. The usual approach is to treat the child first and obtain imaging studies of the urinary tract. Following birth, heavy colonisation with aerobic bacteria normally becomes established in both sexes. Because of the shorter length of the urethra in females there is a greater chance of getting urinary tract infection due to contamination from the anus.
Avatar f tn If physical exercises and medications have been ruled out then infectious and structural factors need to be considered. This includes urinary tract infections and kidney stones. You had previous urinary tract infections (is this correct?).This may be contributory. Your cystoscopy showed slight inflammation. The cause of which may be also be infectious in nature. I suggest that you decide to wait for the next consult. Drink plenty of water and eat well. Exercise daily also .
Avatar m tn In children, quinolones and doxycycline are best avoided. Since bacteria that cause urinary tract infections are often the cause of epididymitis in children, co-trimoxazole or suited penicillins (for example, cephalexin) can be used. If there is a sexually transmitted disease, the partner should also be treated.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epididymitis Let us know if you need any further information. Regards.
Avatar m tn I wonder if there is such a thing as a hypersensitive urinary tract? If so, I have it big time! Every time this is like this, it makes me feel bad all over. I guess when the prostate is irritated, being a gland, it can affect how you feel all over. I hope I can get over this. I am still drinking lots of water. My questions are is there such a thing as a hypersensitive urinary tract and prostate? And 2. What can be done to improve this. A certain vitamin or mineral? Saw Palmetto?
Avatar m tn Based on my experience, blood in the urine was due to urinary tract infection. I felt pain in my vagina when passing urine and drops of blood came out after the urine. My gynecologist gave me antibiotics to treat the infection. If your wife feels the same, better take her to the doctor immediately.
Avatar f tn I have periodic urinary tract infections but usually no protein in urine. This time there is protein as well as white blood cells, etc. I have been put on ampicillin. I don't understand how a urinary tract infection can cause the protein??
565147 tn?1218252591 Hi, “infections of the urinary tract are the second most common type of infection in the body. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for about 8.3 million doctor visits each year.* Women are especially prone to UTIs for reasons that are not yet well understood. One woman in five develops a UTI during her lifetime. UTIs in men are not as common as in women but can be very serious when they do occur. Normally, urine is sterile.
