Azithromycin herpes

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin herpes

zithromax

Avatar m tn Yes it could be herpes. I'm not sure why the provider you saw thought syphilis instead of herpes. Would be worth asking. you should've seen results in 48 hours after taking the medication, not it getting worse.
Avatar m tn how long prior to testing had you taken antibiotics?
Avatar n tn I contracted chlamydia from my ONE sexually partner and my doctor prescribed a single dose of azithromycin and i wanted to know would that medication also get rid of the infection if I contracted it orally? This discussion is related to chlamydia and azithromycin.
Avatar m tn About 2 days after the encounter or even less I developed a rash on my scrotum that was bright red and burned/itched and was moist. I initially thought herpes and freaked out. I didn't develop any bumps or blisters and still haven't yet on any part of my penis/scrotum. About a week later I went to a walk in care doctor. He examined me and my rash and tested for chlaymida, gonorrhea, took my urine sample checked for bacteria.
Avatar n tn I also noticed a burning sensation when urinating. I saw a doctor who prescribed azithromycin and also took a urine sample to be tested. After taking the antibiotics I started feeling less itchiness and almost no burning when urinating..... I return to the doctor and the results were negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. The day after the symptoms seemed to come back again, strong burning of the tip and itchiness...no pain when urinating though.
Avatar n tn I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems. by H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D., Jun 11, 2007 12:00AM Directly to your questions: 1) Both azithromycin and penicillin are 100% effective in curing incubating syphilis.
Avatar f tn Went to clinic, all test back neg, 2 weeks later swab tested found nothing. During this time I had taken azithromycin, after over 3 weeks since the incident all symptoms were gone. Now 17 weeks of no symptoms, I've got the same problem! I'm scared of herpes, i was told cannot test for it at gum clinic becoz of no visible signs!! I don't know if it's was because of the azithromycin the syptoms went away or they would've gone away on there own!?? Any ideas?
Avatar m tn It was dark and did not notice any lesions on his penis, but am extremely worried of having contracted some STDs. I took 2 g of Azithromycin this morning. Can anyone please tell me what are my risks of having contracted HIV, or any type of STD and should you recommend any testing, how long should i wait before taking the tests?
Avatar m tn The major STDs which peole get from receipt of oral sex are NGU and gonorrhea, as well as occasionally herpes if partners have oral herpes. There are a few reports of people who have gotten syphilis through receipt of oral sex but it is very, very rare. Furthermore, the medications you received would prevent development of syphilis if you ahd been concerned. Thus, syphilis is not a concern - you do not need to worry or to have testing at this time. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I went to a second doctor and he told me that I might have a STD (Chlamydia or gonnarhea) due to the burning sensation(Not while urinating). He prescribed me an azithromycin 1g. I had him take a look at the rash or whatever it is and he said that it is in the are where most herpes outbreaks occur but it does not look like herpes and since I didnt have any lesions that should not be concerned at all and that it could probably be from friction.
Avatar f tn Oral sex exposes you to syphilis, gonorrhea and herpes. The risk is low compared to penetrative sex, but it's not zero, You should test as follows: -Gonorrhea, 3 weeks after the exposure. -Herpes, 3 months after the exposure. -Syphilis, 6 weeks after the exposure. If the result is negative, repeat the test 3 months after the exposure, as there are people who take longer to show a positive result. All the best.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. It is impossible that a wart could appear in 12 hours. Several weeks is the minimum, and mostly it's 6 months or more before visible warts appear. Anyway, warts do not cause lesions like friction burns. Anything that appears so quickly has to be an injury, allergy, or chemical irritation -- most likely it's just what it seems, a friction lesion from vigorous sex.
Avatar n tn ve already tested pos for Herpes Simplex 1. Today, I woke up and felt wet down below. I ran to the bathroom and noticed a tiny discharge from my penis. At first it seemed to be clear, but when I milked my urethra, I noticed that a little more came out and it seemed somewhat cloudy. I couldn't be sure if it was clear or cloudy because of the lighting.
Avatar m tn Thinking it could be Gonorrhea, Chlamydia or NGU, I went to see a doctor and he prescribed me with 250mg Ceftriaxone injection, and 1000mg Azithromycin in a single dose. The symptoms persisted for about a week and then went away. During this time however, I was a nervous wreck and of course did a lot of internet research. I decided to get an additional 500mg Ceftriaxone injection, and took 1000mg Azithromycin per day for 3 days. Just to be on the safe side.
Avatar f tn They gave me a antibiotic shot for Penicillen and prescribed me one Z pack (azithromycin).I went back and got results for my culture and everything was normal..That day I went and got tested for Herpes on the 2nd of December (blood test) and tested negative. I went back to the hospital that Friday because there was no improvement with my throat and my tonsils still had white spots on them after taking the five pills of azithromycin.
Avatar m tn Oral sex is a very inefficient way of transmitting herpes. Also herpes appears as blisters rather than pinkish spots. Probably not herpes, but follow up with your doctor to see what the cause is. If it were herpes, and if you would have gotten it from the oral exposure, chances are it is HSV-1 and not 2. This type of herpes gives milder symptoms and fewer outbreaks. Furthermore, if you ever had coldsores, it cannot be HSV-1 since your body would have antibodies against this virus.
Avatar n tn Very small spots but the pain felt like it was coming from there. Dr. said it didnt look like herpes, he said it looked more like "papules". Got blood test for herpes and sent me home. Later I went to a walk-in clinic. The Dr. said it did not look like herpes but prescribed me 4 500mg pills of Famvir anyway, I took the pills and the pain and general lousy feeling dissipated over the next few days. The spots seem to have popped and gone mostly away.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and got tested and as a precaution he gave me a shot of rocephin and 2 pills 500 mg of azithromycin. In a week my symptoms were gone but my tests for infection came back negative so i slept with the girl again and the next day my symptoms all came back. I've taken doxicyclin (one week), ciproflaxin(one week) and azithromycin(one week) with very little success. My symptoms seem to have went down a little with the azithromycin but have not left me.
Avatar m tn 2 days after the exposure I took a 4 day course of Azithromycin (1 per day, 250 mg) for a soar throat (self medicated). 12 days after, I tested for STIs and the tests for Syphillis, Gonnorrhea and Chlamydia, which resulted in Negative results. 1) Could my Azithromycin course 2 days after potential STI contraction have affected the test? 2) Could I have contracted something which was treated by my opportunistic course of antibiotic?
Avatar m tn I had sex with a new partner for the first time in a long while and two weeks later discovered I had contracted Chlamydia. About another 2 weeks later I took 1g Azithromycin and a week after that was cleared up. Now it's about 1.5 months after that contact (no further sexual contact since that one time) and my scrotum is starting to itch. Particularly the underside where it contacts the thighs. I've watched closely for several days and there is no sign of any sores forming (Herpes?
