Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin for uti dosage

zithromax

2) What other drug/dosage is commonly prescribed for UTIs? I cannot afford to visit a clinic/doctor right now at all, so telling me to ask my doctor, consult my care provider, etc, though understandable, will be of absolutely no help.
Hello, To make my long story short...I had a UTI and I was treated for the UTI. My symptoms never went away. Huge part of me thinks its something more sinister. Chlamydia. Went to another doctor who prescribed the Z pack (Azithromycin). My dosage however is 2 pills = 500 mg and then 1 pill a day there after at 250mg for 4 days. Everything I am reading on here keeps referring to a one time single dosage that equals 1000mg or 1 gram. So, I called my doctor and he says...
Is it ok to take it only a few days after finishing my dosage of doxy ? (Which was 100 mg 2 daily for a week). Thank you so much for any help. You don't know how frustrating this pain is and how upsetting it is to not be able to treat it at least for now.
For some reason I can't post in the ask a doctor forum. Anyway, maybe someone here can help me out. I will warn you that this will be kind of long because I want to include every little detail in case someone can pick up on something and make a connection that I can't. I truly appreciate anyone taking the time to read this. Main symptoms: constant white, sour smelling vaginal discharge, pain with insertion. Back in January of 09, I had a severe UTI.
He prescribed me Azithromycin for possible chlamydia and Ciprofloxacin for possible UTI. I took all of the Azithromycin and started the Ciprofloxacin when I got home. Well, I had an allergic reaction to the Cipro so I got a prescription of Nitrofurantoin mono/mac which I completed dosage over a weeks time like instructed. It has been 10 days since taking the Azithromycin and I still notice little white particles in my urine.
You would like to know if having taken 2 250mg azithromycin pills would cause your urine chlamydial test to be negative if you had taken the azithromycin 12 hours before being tested for chlamydia. The answer is no. The tests for chlamydia test for chlamydial DNA so even if there were dead or dying chlamydia present, they would have been detected. You should believe the results of your test.
Have u check for a uti.
the results came back positive for chlamydia and they gave him another 1 dose of azithromycin. He took the 1 dose of azithromycin on 9/19/07. My husband is concerned about his medication being strong enough because he was not prescribed the same medication as myself. I contacted several pharmacists and asked them about it and they said that both medications were the same it's just that the other was only one dosage.
2) Would the azithromycin dosage he prescribed remedy NGU if I did have it? If this dosage would not cure NGU, am I able to immediately go to a STD clinic to get tested (while on azithromycin) or do I need to wait for a period after finishing the medicine to get accurately checked and tested? 3) Does alcohol diminish the effect of azithromycin ? I say this because I had 4 drinks one night two days after beginning the medicine. 4) Can NGU be passed to women?
I went to the doctor, and he gave me 7 days of antibiotic for UTI. At first, i thought that is the end of my painful lower body infection. It turned out the antibiotic cured most of the UTI, but i could feel an uncomfortable sensation down there - i couldn't identify the exact location of my irritation at that time; that's why i label "down there". I repeatedly visited (four times) my doctor, demanded to give me a vaginal examination, because i assumed i have a vagina infection.
but is there any chance that the above azithromycin dosage would not have cured a possible STD and if so, what? Again thanks for a wonderful site that brings help and education to a lot of people!
with bacterial UTI a distant possibility. 3) Azithromycin suspension and pills are equally effective. 4) No, HIV is not a cause. 5) Stop taking azithromycin; it won't help, and it probably will prolong your gastrointestinal symptoms. 6) You probably didn't need cipro. 7) Penile rash probably is unrelated to your urethral symptoms. 8) Prostatitis is a confusing and difficult diagnosis; urethral discharge and painful urination are not the usual symptoms.
Also no sign of a UTI. I was given a single dose of Azithromycin before the results came back assuming I had chlamydia and when results came back negative doctor suggested I may have began clearing the disease on my own by the time test was taken. Symptoms went away for a full week after the antiobiotics but then came back. I went in for another test and again results were negative but they said there was some inflamation noticed in my urine sample.
I have no insurance and no GP OR GYN. The ER doctor did a urine test for UTI and pregnancy even though I told her I had been taking Macrobid and I had just had sex only four days ago for first time in months. The tests needless to say were negative, she did a wet mount culture for BV and that too was negative. The doctor decided to give me an IM shot of Rocephin and eight 25mg pills of Azithromycin. I waited in ER for 30 min then was let go.
If it continues i will try and get another doctor to prescribe some longer antibiotic cure, maybe something more UTI oriented, instead of a unique concentrate dosage. Unfortunately i am still abroad so it is difficult to get tested thoroughly. Brett.
I read that on single 1g dose of Azithromycin is being used as a treatment for the various forms of Urethritis so I doubled my first dose yesterday and figure this will cure what is causing that discomfort. As you can imagine the stress of "what if" is still freaking me out. I visited a pro long ago (9 years?) before our children were born and admitted it. My wife forgave me and I apparently didn't remember all of the stress and misery it caused because I now did it again.
I have been infected before in my life and cleared the infection or killed it with another dosage of antibiotics for an unrelated illness. 3. My test was compromised by something else. My mother has an auto-immune disease yet I have never been tested. Another bacterium may have caused the test to show a positive at a low level. Do you agree or have any additional comments? I appreciate your thoughts on this..
So of course after still having symptoms the doctor put me on another cycle of Doxycycline for the same dosage and length thinking it was urethritis. After 3 days of being on this medicine I noticed no discharge but still the redness continued and tenderness to my urethra when pressing on it. I also started to get irritation to my right eye and thus took my contacts out. I have not had any discharge or color change to my eye. I am trying to get an appointment to see an eye doctor this week.
With a viral bronchitis, you should avoid antibiotics especially zpacks (Zithromax / azithromycin) which are overprescribed for these symptoms , and can lead to side effects and adverse drug reaction such as rash, antibiotic drug resistance and yeast infections. Instead, helpful treatments include cough suppressants, bronchodilators (albuterol inhalers), and antihistamine-decongestants.
However, it gives absolutely no indication as to what is causing it. You could have a positive urinalysis for a UTI the same way you could for Chlamydia the same way you could for Gonorrhea. The problem with this test is that it's going to miss a lot of infections, about 30%. In my opinion, that is too high to ever rely on it as the only test performed. But it is a useful tool since it costs nearly nothing and you get immediate results.

2. can blood in your urine be caused by any other uti related source. thank you for your time.
( Being heavily intoxicated) I did not notice the condom had broken and continued having sex for a while before I realized what had happened.( So I had unprotected vaginal but not anal sex with her, although I fear bacteria from here anus may have now been present.) There was also unprotected oral involved both giving and receiving. -On the 19th I had noticed some redness around my urethra, and had the need to urinate often, without any noticeable pain involved.
I did go on a long course of Azithromycin back in May to see if it was just a resistant UTI that needed a longer course of antibiotics, I had a 1G dosage, followed by 6 additional days of 250mg twice per day. This is more than enough to wipe out Myco. My doctor advised that she'd also done another combination of ABX to rule this one out too earlier, which involved Metronoidazole and Doxicycline.
5 days of azithromycin actually works for 10 days. it's not like regular antibiotics. don't just keep throwing medications at this hoping something works. give this one a chance. also don't allow yourself to get obsessed over something this "might" be. if symptoms reoccur after this treatment, return to the urologist for further follow up.
Lo and behold the results took an entire 4 weeks to return from the lab and i was positive for chlamydia negative for gonorrhea. I was prescribed 2 500mg pills of azithromycin for the chlamydia as was M and A within the next day when i told them - i informed C but did not get a follow up from her. I took my Dosage on Thursday and M (who i am back together with) took hers on Friday. She had no symptoms ever. A had what she thought was a yeast infection 2 weeks earlier.
and also cause frequent urination/ bladder infection like symptoms? Also, I was given the treatment for Trich. w/ a single dosage of metronidizole...\ any thoughts.. false negatives..etc?
She said she would check and left. Finally, a nurse came back with RXs for me - one for acyclovir, one for doxycycline, and one for lortab. I again specified that I was not asking for narcotics because they don't help at all. I asked if there was any kind of cream or topical anesthetic that could be prescribed instead because I was in serious pain and she said there wasn't anything.
Hello, Thanks for any help anyone has to offer. I've been suffering from an inflammed and irritated meatus for just over seven weeks now and I'm really confused as to what's causing it or how to fix it. I'm in a foreign country at the moment so access to healthcare and consequently explaining my problem in a foreign language hasn't been the easiest. For that reason, I'm writing here to see if anyone could lend some advice.
