zithromax

Avatar m tn i've had recurring urethritis for about 2 years now and don't seem to be getting anywhere. This latest bout started about 6 weeks ago and i left it for a while as the symptoms were mild - no burning just an occasional mild irritation in the middle of the urethra. It would feel like pressure or a tickle midway down.. I noticed I'm peeing a lot more and the urgency is definitely increased. I went to the local GUM and was diagnosed with NSU.
Avatar m tn On the other hand, Trimethoprim is neither used for NGU nor for other STDs (only for simple urinary tract infections). This means that they found some other bacteria in your urine. I think you should go back in 2 weeks (dead chlamydia organisms that may provide false positives are usually gone about 3 weeks after treatment) and ask for a total recheck (gonorrhea, chlam, NGU) and ask for explanations for the Trimethoprim (it was trimethoprim, right, not trimetoprim-sulfhamethoxazole?).
Avatar n tn Bacteria are the most common cause of cystitis, and may be introduced into the urinary system for many reasons. Infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea can cause symptoms similar to cystitis, particularly when they are present in young, sexually active men. You are on the right antibiotics. Plesae continue on the same. Refer: http://www.cobfoundation.org/BC/bacterialCystitis.
Avatar f tn hand jobs are not risks for std's. Protected hand jobs are zero risk! you don't need any further testing for any std's. You should drink plenty of water to keep your urinary system flushed, avoid caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods.
Avatar m tn A cephalosporin (such as ceftriaxone) combined with doxycycline is an alternative. Azithromycin can be used for susceptible strains. In children, quinolones and doxycycline are best avoided. Since bacteria that cause urinary tract infections are often the cause of epididymitis in children, co-trimoxazole or suited penicillins (for example, cephalexin) can be used. If there is a sexually transmitted disease, the partner should also be treated.' http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn try urixin tblt one per day for urinary infection
Avatar f tn It's common to get uti within the first trimester. I had one at 8 weeks, I'm not sure what antibiotics they put me on but I'm 31weeks now and my baby boy is perfectly healthy. Dr's won't put you on any medication that will harm your baby unless it would be more harmful for you not to take it. I have epilepsy as well and they took me off of the medication I was on and put me on something safer for the baby.
Avatar n tn The treatment for coinfection with both gononrrhoeae and Chlamydia is Azithromycin. It should work for both. Did you have an injection? However, some GC strains are very resistant. It would be good to get retested in about 6 weeks to make sure you are clear from both.
Avatar n tn A couple years ago I started developing chronic urinary infections. There was always some mild bleeding with these. I take medication from the doctor, it would go away, and then a few months later it would be back. Sometimes the urine tests would come back negative. No one knew what was happening. I started keeping a log of when this started and what I was doing different. I realized that I had started drinking a lot of ice tea.
Avatar m tn Over the years, I have had several episodes of Urinary Tract Infections, that appear to be associated with these activities. The typical scenario is that, anywhere from 2-7 days following one of these encounters, I will experience a small itching or stinging sensation in my urethra. This will then be followed by the appearance of a whitish urethral discharge. This discharge will continue for about a week.
Avatar n tn Ureaplasma isn't an std, and if you haven't responded to the azithromycin and roxy, you need to follow up with your doctor. Have you been tested for other things, or been tested again to make sure the ureaplasma is gone? Perhaps you have something else going on that is causing this. In any case, you need to follow up with your doctor.
Avatar m tn In a test, ureaplasma urealyticum and micrococcus cristinae has been found and the doctor gave me doxycyclin for two weeks and azithromycin. since this therapy, the ugly smell has vanished on the whole. But some weeks later, I suffered from painfull cystitis. In a new test, staphylococcus cohnii/capitis and streptococcus mitis and, to my surprize, neisseria gonorrhoe (PCR) was found. I was given again some antibiotics (Metronidazole, Levofloxacin, Cefuroxime).
Avatar n tn with a combination of metronidazole (Flagyl) for trich and BV plus either azithromycin (single dose) or doxycycline for the other potential causes of NGU in men. Finally, it would be a good idea for your partner to be examined, even if asymptomatic. If he is found to have asymptomatic NGU, that would help guide the way forward. And even if not, if your symptoms clear up on the suggested treatments, it might be a good idea for him to treated as well.
Avatar m tn That said, if you were tested with a reliable test and had a positive result, you had chlamydia. Azithromycin is thought to be highly effective for treatment of chlamydial infection although one recent report has suggested that the treatment failure rate may be increasing slightly (despite this, the vast majority of chlamydial infections will still be successfully treated with azithromycin).
Avatar n tn Azithromycin is an antibiotic. It doesn't treat fungal infections. Taking an antibiotic can kill off your "good" bacteria so that yeast especially can over grow more in the body. I'm guessing they prescribed the z pack in case you have chlamydia more than anything though that could've been covered with 1 pill. Not too much else that azithromycin is good for at this point as far as std's or urinary infections.
Avatar m tn I started getting odd urinary tract infections a year or so back which seemed to puzzle my doctors, they had no explanation for it,the urinary infections were triggered once I consumed too much sugar and my urine would smell bad. the doctors i've seen haven't been much help for me in diagnosing any of my allergy problems,i'm guessing this is very difficult to test for .
Avatar m tn I was tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea after experiencing symptoms of a greenish discharge from my penis and tingle at the end of my penis. I was immediately treated on Sept 5 with 400g Cefixime and 1g Azithromycin (Zithromax) pending results. My wife (who I had sex with a day or two after my indiscretion) was also given both sets of treatment. Test results received two weeks later (Sept 19) I was negative for Gon but positive for Chlamydia. I'm a male aged 37 and live in the UK.
Avatar f tn Mine usually prescdibes macrobid for urinary infections
Avatar m tn I have had these recurrent symptoms every 12-18 months for the past 4 or so years. Approx 4 years ago I tested positive for chlamydia, doctor prescribed doxy and symptoms were relieved, then about (1) month after that is when I experienced the pelvic testical ache. At the time my Dr did not diagnose it as prostatitis and prescribed a couple weeks of bactrim. Out of madness for relief I have gone to the internet and find conflicting reports that chlamydia or other STD can cause this condition.
