m clear of Gonnorrhea and Clamydia however I tested positive for Mycoplasma Hominis and Mycoplasma Genitalium. I thought these couldn't be acquired by oral sex but I guess they can. I'm now under treatment with Clarithromycin 250mg twice a day for 7 days.
I'm awaiting blood test results.
My questions are:
1) Howcome I caught MG through oral sex?
2) Are there chances of other STDs?
3) Does MG increase risk of HIV?
just received culture for uretha swab indicates AB resistant mycoplasma to all antibiotics (AB) except for one doctor has never heard of (myocline? )
He then gave me Cipro 500g 2x a day which is just barely keeping symptoms under control. Still peeing a lot and mild uretha pain.
The new AB Starts with M is all I can remember I was so freaked out. The doctor said he needs to look up the AB and he'll call me on Monday?!

My boyfriend got tested positive for mycoplasma genitalium. We have been together about year and a half (and he has not had sex with anybody else for about 2,5 years and then with a condom). Could it be that he got it even before that, so maybe 3-4 years ago and it didn’t show? And how is it possible that in november I tested negative for the same thing and we have regular sex? I am pretty sure he hasn’t cheated on me.
Went to urologist and got urin and blood-tested for almost all STDs (chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, Mycoplasma Hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma Genitalium, Ureaplasma parvum, Trichomonas vaginalis, Syphilis, and HSV-1 and 2). Only HSV-1 came back positive (31 COI), which i have been having oral ulcers with for many years. Everything else came back positive.

Just to add to my previous post I was never tested for Mycoplasma Genitalium as the clinics told me there is no standard test for it in standard sti clinics. Does this alter your opinion from that of your previous post? When you say it responds to Zithromax, is 1g single dose sufficient in your experience, as you seen from my posts my NSU was recurring?

In addition I did another calculation and actually I tested negative for Mycoplasma 25 days after taking Ofloxacin. I learnt that Urine tests are pretty accurate so I strongly believe that I do not have ngu any more. But what conserns me is continuos clear discharge after I wake up. That has now happened 4 days in a row. I know that because my penis head is moist. I do not see it happening during the day - even if I have long breaks between urinating.

Yesterday I finished a 5 day course Azithromycin after a postive test result for mycoplasma genitalium. I'm still feeling some of the sad symptoms as I was before. When is a retest recommended? Does anyone know if the Azithromycin continues to work, even after the course is finished or whether the fact that I still have symptoms (burning when I urinate) this means I need a longer course of antibiotics. I've read that some Azithromycin is resistant to antibiotics.
I also had whitish discharge from my anus occasionally. I tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea, by both swab and urine. I was given azithromycin 1000mg and ceftriaxone IM 250 mg. The symptoms subsided after a few days, or at least I perceived them to. After waiting an additional week, I decided it was safe to continue to have unprotected sex with my long-term girlfriend (unaware of my infidelity), and was advised that it was ok to do so by my doctor.

My recommendation is it wait a couple of weeks since taking your antibiotics, do not have sex with anyone, and then test for Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma and Trichomonas. And here's some copy/paste info for you:

I have been diagnosed by myco g and have been on doxy first for 14 days then 28 days then tried azithromycin for 5 days then a longer 3 week course. Still no effect. Then got on moxifloxacin for 10 days. Symptoms got worse after day 5. Symptoms are pain in the left side of stomach and back pain. Very slight pain/discomfort in penis which is hardly noticeable. Did start out with discharge but this has gone away.
The doctor just called me to inform me that I tested positive for Mycoplasma, but negative for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis.
I've since noticed that my urine is sometimes cloudy and if I pee into a glass there seem to be small particles floating around. Also, I don't know whether it's because I'm paranoid now, but I feel like my groin area and lower abdomen are a little bit swollen.
What is Mycoplasma?
The medical community throws their hands in the air and says there is nothing they can do for us. Look into Mycoplasma Genitalium and Ureaplasma. Although there is debate regarding these bacteria, it's been well published that M. Genitalium is an STD, but it's not screened for and is very difficult to erradicate.
Also, were you treated with anything else after Azithromycine? Please keep us updated.
I got an NSU/NGU infection in my urethra last Jan. Took Azithromycin for it at the GUM clinic and it flared massively, had horrible urethral pain after taking the antibiotics.
Flash forward and it has morphed into prostatitis, urethritis, epidydimytis, strange vascular symptoms on my penis and testicles (apparently thrombophlebitis - had that since the first month of infection). My glands are up in my groin but the doctors are having a hard time finding an infection.
After looking Online for info about m gen there is a lot of conflicting information. Almost every std site and government info site says the m gen can be acquired though oral sex. However, if you read the scientific literature, it says that the have not been able to detect it in the throat of people. Most notably sex workers and men who have sex with men.
Please take a look at my reply to your other posting. In it, I forgot to mention that if you do have some form of fungal infection, taking antibiotics very likely will make the infection and the symptoms worse, not better. Good luck!
On a recent urine test I was notified that I tested positive for Mycoplasma Hominis. I have been married for 20 years and have had no other partners than my wife. I also trust that she has been faithful.
My Dr. prescribed a treatment of azithromycin and tinidazole. My questions are
1. Is this the proper treatment protocol?
2. Is it necessary? I have read that mycoplasma hominis is naturally occuring in the urinary tracts of almost all people. (including some posts on this board.
He had pain with urination and came up positive for mycoplasma genitallium. I have done doxy and azithromycin and still came up positive for mycoplasma genitallium and ureaplasma. my partner and I are finishing up 14 days on Moxi and I am still having cramping. My partner is still having testicular pain. So I’m guessing this didn’t work either. I would assume my symptoms should be cleared up right after the treatment, right? Anyone have success getting any other medications in the USA?

Just regarding the issue on what you said above above about the medication for mycoplasma genitalium. When I asked the GUM clinic at the time what Zithromax covered they informed me it covered "Chlamydia even though your culture was negative & the other possible main causes of NSU for which we don't have conventional tests for, such as mycoplasma & ureaplasma".
Me and GF had Azithromycin for Chlamydia. Few months after that she was diagnosed with Ureaplasma and Gardarella, while I am negative and was negative few months ago. Is she cheating? How could she have gotten these?
Hi everyone. So this is a bit of a long story, but I'll try to keep it short and to the point.
I went through a really tough time and I had a fling with a girl I didn't really know. We had unprotected sex and I'm now paying the price.
I developed symptoms, burning & discharge, took Doxycycline prescribed for 1 week and test came back positive for chlamydia. I finished antibiotics, symptoms cleared. Came back and prescribed 1g azithromycin. Symptoms completely cleared again.
It was also recently that my test results from a swab culture came positive for mycoplasma when in the past urine tests always said i was negative for all STDs. When my test results kept coming back negative the doctor told me it was fine to have sex with my partner. My partner also tested negative for everything and so after i finished the antibiotic treatments i waited a week before having sex.
