I was exposed to Chlamdyia on the 13th of October and then treated for bronchitis with a z-pack (500mg the first day, then an additional 250mg for four days) on the 22nd of October. Would this be effective against the chlamydia as well, or should I seek additional treatment? I can't afford the azithromycin again, so I'd have to use doxycycline if that were the case. I'm a 20 year old male and have absolutely no symptoms of chlamydia.
Should i call my doctor and ask for another prescription to help? If so what should i ask for? Pain killer or what?
steroid for non - inflammatory and to revive immune system azithromycin antibiotic to eliminate bacteria possibly causing bronchitis prescription cough syrup to STOP the coughing which causes the severe chest pain inhaler for symptoms similar to asthma GOOD LUCK
My 4 year old son was on Azithromycin for 5 days. He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis. He was given breathing treatments for 1 week and Azithromycin. He started having stomach issues (upset stomach) at the time of taking Azithromycin. That was 6-7 weeks ago. He has continued to have these same issues. We've been to his pediatrician, had blood tests run (nothing abnormal). He was on Zantac for 1 week with no changes. We've had him on a probiotic for 4 weeks approximately with no changes.
If it is in fact viral, the doctor wants to use azithromycin now to prevent possible respiratory infection or bronchitis. I have found a substantial amount of literature online that discusses how using azithromycin with QT prolonging drugs or other rhythm regulators can increase the QT interval and cause dysrhythmia. This relative was in the hospital before and after surgery due to rhythm problems. It took a while to adjust exercise and meds to balance everything out.
I have bronchitis this week and the doc put me on antibiotics. I feel like sh*t, coughing up green **** and my chest hurts and my head is all stuffed up -- but on the other hand, I have to laugh about it! hahaha As bad as the bronchitis is -- it's a piece of cake compared to what the bipolar puts me through on a daily basis.
I, all at once, took 4 out of 4 pills of Azithromycin 250mg tablets on 3/14 for the Chlamydia treatment and had diarrhea for a week. A week after (3/21) I got a little sick (light headed for 3 days) and my urethra was sensitive but I thought these were side effects. Now it is 4/7, my urethra is still a little sensitive (including just below the opening), warm, and my throat is now slightly sore and dry. I have no other symptoms and no discharge (but I am not circumcised so it is hard to tell).
If your present medications are not helping with the symptoms, it is best that you inform your attending physician for proper management. A change of medication or dosage may also be indicated. Treatment for bronchitis is usually supportive. And patients with underlying lung diseases such as asthma are usually at greater risk of developing recurring infection. Do keep us posted. Take care and best regards.
Last week I was diagnosed with bronchitis and my doctor prescribed me to take that same antibiotic that I took for 5 days, 250mg a day. Now will that antibiotic have cleared up both the bronchitis and chlamydia at the same time or do I need to get another dosage of another antibiotic?
Hello, Zithromax contains azithromycin and is mostly used for STD’s like non gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis due to Chlamydia trachomatis. It is usually not the drug of choice for UTI but is mostly used in otitis media (infection of the middle ear), tonsillitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
//www.annals.org/cgi/content/abstract/134/6/479 When do I need antibiotics for bronchitis? Almost never. Doc, I can't stop coughing and am bringing up pus. Well, you're not alone. Millions of other people are in your shoes right now, and over 90 per cent of them have viral infections with coughs productive of colored phlegm.
Z-Pack is a trade name for azithromycin, intended for 2 tablets (500 mg) on day 1, then 1 tablie (250 mg) each day for 4 more days. It is recommended and widely used for things like bronchitis, sinusitis, and certain skin infections. In a single dose of 1.0 g, azithromycin is one of the standard treatments for chlamydia. For gonorrhea, the 1.0 g dose isn't quite enough, as single dose treatment; but 2.0 g (eight 250 mg tablets) often works well.
I'm still wheezing and have chest tightness when I exhale for 10 weeks now. I take Dulera/Singulair/Xopenex and Spiriva and sometimes Combivent. Is there a med like theophylline that can help me? I'm also having bad sleep apnea and am crippled by this and can't work or think because of my lung diseases. Is my sleep apnea caused by asthma or narrowed airway?
I'm not sure why I'd miss a period - they have been gradually decreasing in flow since I started taking Yaz but this is the first time I've not had any sort of a period. I did have tonsillitis/bronchitis last week, so I was put on azithromycin for 3 days. Why did I miss a period? Should I be concerned about pregnancy? Advice is welcome :) Thanks!
May go to Shands tomorrow, than their all off to Italy for study seminar. AT ER they did fluids, meds, pain shot, etc. Xray, it didn't show, cat scan it did. Came home with Z-pack-Azithromycin, the 5 day whammy antibiotic. 5th day is tomorrow, not feeling much better so........ Should I get set up with more antibiotics? Is a vaporizer a yes or no with pneumonia? (think yes?) Any other tips to keep this from getting worse? Yes, smoking is out, getting nic gum.
About ten days ago I was sick with bronchitis and was given an antibiotic(azithromycin) after the five days of taking it I started to feel much better. The last two days I started to feel sick again. I was having chest pain, shortness of breath and palpitations that were really fast at times and seemed iregular. I am still continuing to cough as well. So last night it got really bad again and I went to the ER where they did an ecg, chest x-ray and blood tests.
Thanks for the title, but I really am just a plain 'ol MS'er that shares what she knows to anyone who wants to listen! :) 1. Does Lyme follow a relapsing-remitting pattern? YES! In my non medical opinion,,,people that are classified PPMS ( to borrow the term that one of my neuros helped coin, btw) would see a rapid decline in symptoms. Then people like me -RRMS as my neuro said I am; have an immune system that for whatever reason kept this bacteria at a tolerable level.
Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for Babesiosis first, then when that was extinct, Biaxin/clarithromycin and Omnicef/cefidnir for Lyme. Took 15 months, start to finish. Overt symptoms had been few, mainly tiredness but not the crushing fatigue others of us have had. Tests were initially run on the family only at my stubborn insistence, and I was dead-dog sick with the same things, Lyme and Babesiosis. Go figure.
Whenever I went to doctor for cold, fever and cough, they mostly prescribe Cefixime 200mg or sometimes (Cefixime + Azithromycin). I felt amaze when I saw in the internet that antibiotics will not work for common cold and flu as they are viral infections. So is there any reason why most of the doctors prescribe antibiotics when we are suffered from common cold?
And then my husband got it. Strangely enough, my son and my husband were given a prescription for azithromycin and their symptoms cleared up. As for me, I had terrible wheezing that always managed to disappear when I was at a doctor's office. Soon, the runny nose symptoms cleared up and I had extreme breathing problems. It felt like my lungs had a chemical burn of some kind. I had to breathe very shallowly to avoid coughing fits. I was coughing up clear, white and green mucous.
and I was told by the heart clinic to get checked for Celiac as well. ( Something to do while I wait for the heart results anyway lol) She also mentioned getting tested for thyroid issues...so many problems out there that mimic heart problems. Steeterwav - That feeling in the back of your throat is called post nasal drip. Mucus runs down from your sinuses into your throat...it can cause you to cough, swallow constantly, clear your throat, etc. The palpitations could be caused by anxiety.
I didn't notice anything abnormal with his penis. Also, I've been taking azithromycin for about 4 days for an unrelated problem( bronchitis). Would that help if I caught something? Thanks for your help!
If not he will be sending me to an ENT for scoping and a CT scan. I am in the Tampa, FL area for those who are asking.
I went to a walk in clinic and they swabbed me for strep. I didn't have it. I then went to my family doctor on march 27th, and he said it was a viral infection and i had to let it take its course. He gave me some mouth wash that was supposed to take down the swelling but it didn't work. It's now may 19th, and my tonsils are STILL swollen. I'm very scared, and I don't know what could be causing it. I don't have trouble breathing, I don't have any flu symptoms.
I went to the doctor last night and was diagnosed with bronchitis. Now I am having severe localized pain in my upper back region kind of around where my kidney is. Should I be concerned. I also have fever of 102.3 and severe congestion.
I have 6 pills of Zithromax at home at 250mg each that were prescribed before for bronchitis. I understand that Zithromax is also used to treat Chlamydia. I also understand that it takes 1000mg to cure chlamydia (correct me if i'm wrong). My question is, do I take 4 pills (1000mg) all at once or should I take 1 a day, 2 a day.. what do i do?
I have had a cold for over a week now. I took one cipro 500 pill and then decided I needed to see my doctor. I took that at 5PM. My doctor prescribed prednisone and azithromycin. I have checked and seen that there are interactions in taking these drugs together. How long until the cipro 500 is out of my system so I can begin the other antibiotics and prednizone? Thank you.
Hi all. I recently had a rather bad bout of Bronchitis and as such am on a 5-day course of antibiotics (Azithromycin). I've noticed some difficulty urinating and discharge so have made an appointment for an STD test in 10 days time. Will the antibiotics have any noticeable effect on the outcome of such a test?
I also had bronchitis, and was being treated for it when i developed strep. I was taking only azithromycin for the bronchitis. The strep developed about 4 days after starting the azithromycin. There was something mentioned about a cat.. my cat had kittens about 3 or 4 months ago . She had 6 of them and i still have one. Could this have anything to do with me being sick. Or could this be something serious. I had a mono test, but it came back negative. I did have mono 3 years ago.
